Imagine derby is liquidated, that's bad.

Yet it gives the opportunity to totally rebuild under a new name.

It gives the opportunity to buy a club in League Two and rebrand that club as say Derby AFC.

Still keeping a version of Derby as  a club.

It removes the hmrc debt, msd debt, arsenal debt etc

I'm not sure Derby if there would be the money to buy Chesterfield or Burton  and rebrand them.

That could leave a club like Mansfield vulnerable.

A mansfield rebrand wouldn't give Derby much, there grounds not great, there players are not great and how do you move the ground to Derby.

Recall Wimbledon afc plays in Milton Keynes a very long way from Wimbledon, that club was rebranded.

It might be an extreme solution.

It might appear strange to buy a club in League Two for about 10 million and rebrand, but I don't think there's anything in the rules that says that cant be done.

Under that scheme finding new owners seems more probable.

I think there are rules now.

And even if this was possible, I wouldn't support the destruction of either of these clubs for our fanbases benefit. Would be horrible.

  2. I think we are done sadly, and I feel that I'm starting to accept this eventuality.

I suspect we'll still be a club by next season in league 1, with some ancient players on 6month contracts, but doubt we'll make Christmas and fold.

  3. I think the government understand Putin's view I just don't think negotiating with him recognising those views as legitimate in negotiation is ever going to be seen as the right thing to do by the west.

The west didn't intervene in 2014 and allowed crimea to be annexed in to Russia proper and allowed Russian troops to take over areas of donbass. What happened then? Minsk agreements which were never properly followed by all parties.

Russia doesn't respect Ukraines territorial integrity and therefore no agreement will ever be made

Actually I'm not sure. I know that Sky pulled their channel out of choice without waiting for the verdict of an Ofcom investigation. With regards to free to air, I don't know who made the call.

The satellite used to distribute sky tv is owned and operated by a Luxembourgish company hence to comply with EU law it was pulled from the satellite by the operator (and therefore sky).

If that's not bad enough, the delay may indicate that none of the bidders, if there are any, have reached the minimum "price". If that's Ashley playing his game of bidding as little as possible, that doesn't auger well for the future either does it?

Would not surprise me one bit if Ashley is playing games or proposing some weird restructure of the club to reduce his liabilities.

He had been trying to offload Newcastle for years before he finally managed to offload the club. He's now even sueing Amanda Staveley who headed up the sale for breach of contract to get the money back he lent her.

Ukraine is releasing inmates and criminal suspects with a military background so they can join the fight against Russia’s “special operation”  in the country, an official in Ukraine's prosecutor general’s office confirmed on Sunday.

Sinyuk was quoted by Hromadske as saying that Sergey Torbin, a former combat veteran, was one of the inmates released. Torbin previously fought in the conflict with the DPR and LPR. He was jailed for six years and six months in 2018 for his role in the murder of a civil rights activist and anti-corruption campaigner Kateryna Handziuk. The woman was doused with acid in July 2018 on a street outside her home and died in the hospital with severe burns later that year.

Sinyuk said Torbin handpicked former inmates for his squad after his early release. He added that another ex-serviceman, Dmitry Balabukha, sentenced to nine years in jail for stabbing a man to death at a bus stop after an argument in 2018, had also been released.

First paragraph seems to be true as other news sources are carrying that.

The second bit doesn’t appear anywhere else apart from Russia Today.

  7. Russia will overwhelm Ukraine eventually, probably annexe donbass eventually and then withdraw after putting some pro Russian puppet government in kyiv, probably with the long term goal of incorporating them into the union with Belarus.

I don't believe Putin really feels threatened by NATO as a threat to the Russian Federation. He is upset that NATO and the EU have increased their influence to the east, including many areas Russia would consider as part of 'Greater Russia,' parts that had decades/centuries of Russian influence under the ussr and Russian Empire. He doesn't view Ukraine as a real country and believes in Russia's right to dictate to the other former soviet republics how to conduct their affairs.

As far as I'm concerned this war is for territorial expansion and a partial restoration of the Russian empire.

Couldn't you apply a straight-line amortisation yet still arrive at an end-of-contract value? Must the contract always arrive at £0.00? It doesn't work like that for business assets like plant, buildings, fixtures....

Buy a player for £3 million over a three-year contract, amortise him for £750k each year = £2,250 'depreciation'; £750 ERV

Out of all this, I still cannot see why a player's registration should be valueless at the end of a contract with his club.

But then, this is football, sometimes 'beyond statute'.

At the end of a players contract they leave the club therefore they are no longer an asset as the club can't realise any benefit.

Whether or not by extending contracts you can amortise over a longer period.. That appears at first glance to be OK.

    Wasn't really a fishing expedition.

@Ghost of Cloughappears very knowledgeable on the finances and P&S, and I greatly respect his/her opinion on these matters.

I certainly think it looks like we were treated leniently, however I have no idea what factors are taken into consideration.

I guess the total overspend over the period of MMs reign was going to bite us on the arse at some point in time and does make me wonder if my protestations about our treatment have been misguided at times.

The agreed decision was brokered on the understanding derby would withdraw their administration points deduction on the basis of covid.

It must also have considered that the length of time it took to charge derby for the first year and how that impacted derbys activities in the subsequent years.

Personally think they need to do away with the agreed decision. Too much space for inconsistent approaches.

  10. The efl arent really helping us, because it isn't their mandate. All they care about is upholding their rules, regardless of who they impact (efl is run to the benefit of club owners not supporters/customers).

The only reason they have some sort of interest in Derby staying in the league is to protect the integrity of this season's competition.

I personally think mediation is a waste of time to find a solution.. Particularly if the efl are to act as a mediator.

I think Derby are (rightfully) weary of arbitration. A big loss at arbitration in regard to amounts owed to boro, WWFC and the method of exiting administration could spell the end of the club. There's no prospect of appeal and 2/3 arbitors will likely be appointed by the efl and WWFC/Boro. It

I guess the first question is 'Can the EFL restrict Derby on the way they exit administration?' - seems to be precedent for this in the football creditor rule being found ok. Seems like this can go to the high court.

The second question is on amounts owed (if any) to WWFC/Boro. Now I thought that this has to go through arbitration....

We’re only asking them to update it in line with real UK law. The EFL are an unregulated quango run by an unprofessional board. In their world the earth is still flat and leaches are used to treat septicaemia. ducking get a grip of it Rick.

Yeah but why would they if they don't have to? It's completely contrary to their mandate of representing the other clubs. The EFL are not fair or independent... I don't think that should come as a surprise.
