Anybody under the age of 27/28 has never witnessed an automatic promotion for Derby County.

    Quite a sobering thought, really.

Given most kids under about 6/7 don't really have the attention for a whole football match its a quite bit older than that! There's a whole generation of Derby fans under the age of about 35 where the only successful season they'd remember was the Billy promotion season. Kind of remarkable really, some clubs have been relegated and promoted far more frequently. When we were relegated we'd had the joint longest span of being in the championship.

That’s a good point.  With Sky now taking over the broadcasting rights in the UK across the EFL, maybe the red button will also cover L1 and L2 for midweek games?

I think the idea is that they'll be online/through NowTV/SkyQ and I think it is going to include L1/L2 games.

What will probably happen is that currently at Saturday lunchtime there is a choice of either premier league on TNT or 1 championship game on sky. What'll happen is that you'll be left for a choice of a premier league game on TNT or a choice of a few EFL games on at lunchtime and there will be a few on in the evening. I believe this will be incredibly unpopular. Don't understand why they don't just leave the games on at 3PM and let you watch them on TV. It's evident so many people watch the games through other means at 3PM so why not just show them? I think people go out to the games for a day out and the atmosphere not because they can't watch them on TV.

Meanwhile, the EFL tried to impose a Premier-league-mandated points deduction on Leicester. Leicester said, hold on, there's nothing in your rules that allows you to do this, and took out an injunction to stop it. The EFL said, "oh yes of course you're right" and withdrew the deduction.

My conclusion is that the EFL doesn't know its own rules and if we'd had the wherewithal to be able to contest their outrageous behaviour against us, we'd have won as well.

    EFL statement:

    Leicester Statement:

They just make it up as they go along. I don't support Leicester breaking the rules but it's just clear to me that EFL is run by a cabal of club directors and go after clubs base on what they feel is right.

We need a regulator and proper process.

  4. If derby get promoted I would expect 75% of our games to be on TV or streamed next season under this deal.

I hope rams tv continues next season as it is but if there's no domestic streaming wouldn't be surprised if it's cut down a bit.

The EFL completely bottled it with this deal.

I would say though that piracy (dodgy firesticks and the like) probably help lead to this outcome. If they were responsible for their own revenue the risk is just very high that people use that over paying for an EFL product.

I think they could have partnered with Amazon or YouTube and got them broadcasted on their platforms that people were familiar with.

They probably thought that they didn't want an ITV Digital style collapse either that puts them all at risk.

That was just unacceptable - we can still easily finish second but that performance for a second placed team with 4 games left was so bad. No game plan, no idea how to create a chance, can’t string 3 passes together,  tactics were again reliant on hoping we score from a set piece.  Didn’t look like we had spent the last 9 days working on anything.

Saturday is huge now - must win no excuses and hope others do us favours.

I think that's the main point for me - what on earth have they been doing since the last game? Thought they'd be refreshed, motivated and up for the challenge.

Bruges was lovely - we stayed in one of those big canal barges which had been converted into a rather swank hotel.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Salzburg is great - interesting with its' castle, gardens, good restaurants and wonderful mountain scenery close by. We would also re-visit Verona (& Lake Garda), Sienna, Cologne, Budapest, Rome and Florence but give a miss to Pisa & Venice.

Plenty to choose from - we're looking forward to a few days in Northumberland in June.

I think Salzburg is a great choice for a break for a weekend. It's a great town, doesn't feel too busy, some nice traditional places to eat/drink and its got great countryside around it. Airport is pretty small and very close to the city on a bus/taxi so you aren't messing around.

  7. I like the rams daily podcast. Living far, far, away from derby its a great way of keeping up to date.. along with RamsTV.

It'll be a massive shame when the BBC run out of money and they have to have one broadcast for each game.

Back in the mel era when I guess the budget was a bit higher, I really enjoyed the RamsTV meets series.

  8. What wound me up about the charges (and still does) is the fact that it appeared that they were approved then retrospectively the decision or view changed.

The later charges are a direct consequence of the inadequacy of oversight of the EFL. If we'd known they weren't going to be seen as compliant, then business would have been different. It's not evident in the findings by the tribunals that this was ever considered.

An independent office of football regulation is needed.

If jc is out and we are lacking a number 9 then we play a front 3 with nml , cbt and barks buzzing round and interchanging, bird sitting behind them linking and threading passes , we can still get wide with lower pulled back crosses too , yes we need to change it up a bit but these are decent players with pace and can finish ,,,

We gotta just adapt and move on. Ideally we'd only have to push through final 5/6 games but at the stage people just have to pull together and sort a system out to make it work.
