I don’t know about them, have they been employed by the same bank for 30 years? I doubt it. And they aren’ t being funded by licence payers.

Nah just 3/4 years at a time.

Seems as if Gary was playing by the (poor) rules at the time and is now.

More likely a number of contractors on three month contract with no employment rights, yet dumped into IR35 tax rules,  yet someone like Lineker who has been employed by the same Company for 30 years yet is deemed outside of IR35. One rule for the champagne socialists and another rule for the ordinary workers.

What about bankers/people in finance who were on huge day rates for years on end? The rules were being abused, the rules had to change. Not saying it works well now but ir35 rules had to change.

Can only speak for myself but I watched it, safe in the knowledge that I'd just be watching football and not 45 minutes of inane drivel and people telling me what I had just watched, padded out with 15 minutes of highlights.

Didn't think it was great but only because of a lack of commentary.

Put pundits back on and I won't be watching again.

Just watch the Sky Sports YouTube highlights which come out earlier in the day then?

Lineker isn't daft, he must have known what the outcomes would be when (a) he posted that Tweet and (b) the repercussions when the BBC inevitably had to remove him from his position when he refused to retract or backtrack on his inappropriate behaviour.

He might not have done, he frequently posts political stuff.

For me it's no coincidence he's been brought in to the culture war stuff.

The DG of the BBC was smirking and smiling when talking about the Linekar situation. This is directed by the top.

  5. Why does it matter what Gary Linekars political views are? I don't think his views are particularly extreme apart from being anti government which is hardly a fringe view based on the polling figures. My view might be different if he was actually interviewing politiicans.

Andrew Neil wasnt exactly politically neutral when he worked for the BBC and he was a political commentator for the channel.

The whole thing is stirred up by the political appointment at the top of the BBC and the government to keep the flames of the culture war going.

It's not likely to relegate them this season, but you wonder what kind of season they would have had last season if they hadn't been allowed to sign as many players as they did, including some expensive loan signings.

Watch the furore among other Championship clubs be a fraction of what it was over DCFC's transgressions.

Sounds like a claim to me

It seems to be what they told the press ie a pack of lies as usual. They didn’t withdraw their approval until Quantuma had already withdrawn preferred bidder status and Kirchner himself pulled out.

I think I've forgotten what was claimed - couldn't remember this EFL claim.

A response from the EFL when I questioned how our club got so close to falling into the hands of a fraudster:-

"Thank you for your e-mail, we appreciate you getting in touch in this regard.

As I am sure you will appreciate there is a significant range of information that the EFL is party to during a change of control process that must remain private and confidential.

In this particular case, whilst we are limited as to what we can divulge, a significant amount of time was invested in the due diligence process with the EFL requesting additional information from Mr Kirchner. It is important to clarify that the EFL approves changes of control based on purchasers and Clubs meeting the requirements of its Regulations. The EFL undertook a full and comprehensive review of the proposed purchase of the Club by Mr Kirchner in accordance with those Regulations.

This included requirements to provide evidence of funding and submitting to the Owners’ and Directors’ Test. The Owners’ and Directors’ Test is a subjective test that measures all ‘relevant persons’ against a series of disqualifying conditions. The full test can be read on the EFL website here.

The additional requirement is for individuals to provide source and sufficiency of funds, to demonstrate their ability to operate a Club sustainably moving forward. The EFL duly received and considered both UK and US-based evidence, that ultimately led to a withdrawal of the application.

As above I am afraid we are not in a position to comment further on specific details as it involves personal and confidential information relating to Mr Kirchner. Nevertheless I hope that has helped to clarify the matters your raised, and thank you for contacting the EFL."

    This seems pretty interesting?

    Is it on rams player?

No but it is on Israeli, Norwegian and US TV.

Don't understand the approach to the FA cup staggering KO times - unless it's because they're using VAR and they don't have the capacity to monitor every game.

  10. We lost because we didn't create enough from open play. Apart from the kane 1v1, the Bellingham strike and the Maguire header be web didn't look like scoring at all. Couldn't create enough space for anyone to take a strike. I think we defended well most of the game but both of the goals came from us giving far too much time to players taking a strike or playing the ball in.

Kane will be haunted forevermore for his missed penalty but these things happen, he looked under immense pressure even for the first penalty (I don't really believe he wanted to dummy lloris) and it clearly got to him.

Im disappointed because I think if we'd beaten France we might've won the whole thing... But we didn't.

Generally happy with our performances so can't blame the team or the manager generally think we were beaten by a better team. There's always 2026.

Enjoyed this world cup but didn't enjoy the drug fueled morons at the pub tonight who were shouting, being aggressive, breaking stuff and were slagging off our players. The French dad and his kid left at HT... It was a disgrace.

It’s a tough one. The ball clearly hit his arm and changed direction but I’m not sure it met the requirement “ A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation”. I tend to agree with the pundits opinion that his arm was in a very natural position to break his fall.

Yea maybe you're right based on the rule as it is written- the hand is in a natural position due to his dreadful challenge he deliberately chose to make but it's probably a stretch to say he deliberately used his hand.

The only reason I can think the ref gave it was that the movement of the arm towards the ball was deliberate, through the challenge, even if he didn't deliberately go to touch the ball with his hand.

I don't think it's as terrible a decision as people are making out, though.
