  1. He's possibly the best we can hope to sign in the summer window for that position (if he continues to progress and develop as expected).

I don't think Clarke will come back for a 3rd time unless Brighton have no need for him and let him leave permanently (unlikely).

I'd like to see us sign Edmundson, as he has looked composed on the ball and solid positionally in the chances he's had on the pitch. Is he out of contract this summer? If not, hopefully he won't command much of a fee. I think Rangers might be recruiting a lot to build on their new dominance in the SPL and their European chances.

I was expecting better to be honest.

Poor touch and positional awareness so far.

I think his height will be his longer term detriment - is he a centre back or a full back etc.

The lads played a handful of first team games for a team struggling for points in a highly competitive league... but yeah we can all tell from this that he won’t make it at all and definitely won’t improve any further.

Mine too and my business is in Data mining for health care businesses. Don't need one if you are good at networking and already have all the contacts you will ever need. Some businesses operate in a smaller sphere of operations. Thought I might need one when C19 hit but now I have am glad I didn't as I have too much work.

So, if you would've had a website you could've been a billionaire by now and you could be the one looking to buy DCFC...

  4. From some very quick scanning of articles it seemed as though he came in as an advisor for Chansiri, but was secretly trying to work his way into fans affections by immersing himself in the club on social media. Then he made a lowball (£30m) offer to buy the club from Chansiri and was told to do one.

Seems like he's doing a more straightforward tactic this time.

Couple of key points I'd like to know more about:

Is he a face of a consortium? (Probably)

If so, who are they and where are they getting this 'debt free' money from as reported?

Is the Matt Southall guy involved at all?

Do we assume that this is the only bidder now? Is the Abu Dhabi deal completely dead? Are other bidders interested after rumours of US investment etc. over the last couple of months?

Will Mel keep some control to make sure that the new owners don't asset strip the club?

Now I don't want to wee on anyone's fireworks but let's face it, CKR is a pretty limited footballer. Sure he holds the ball up well and his attitude is terrific but as a striker he is slow, not great at heading for goal and is often subdued by good defending.

Had that ball not been blasted into his chest against Forest, we would be talking about a second successive disappointing game by him.

The dreadful dearth of centre forwards at the club has elevated him to folk hero status.

He leads the line well and is great to have 'in the trenches' but we will need better to launch a challenge next season.

I think he is a better footballer than you are giving him credit for. His highlight reel from his Brazil and Mexico period show that he is a well rounded centre forward with good strength and solid control. He also managed to fire in a few thunderbolts in his time in those leagues.

Now I'm not saying that competitively all the opponents he played against were at a good level, but there are some outstanding clubs over that way and he had to adapt his game to the style of those leagues. He's come back to the UK a totally different player to the one a lot of people are trying to remember from his younger days.

He doesn't need pace with his positioning, but he isn't particularly slow anyway, he tends to use his energy wisely over 90 minutes.

His heading has been alright so far. With more service from wide areas I'm sure we'd see more of this.

I think the thing holding him back more at the moment is his team mates not getting closer to him when he is used to hold up the ball. He has linked up well with Gregory and his through ball for Waggy shows his eye for a forward pass.

I'm sure we might being in "better" next season, but I'm confident we can get more from Colin and that he will give more to the team until he can't any more.

Would've thought somebody more lyrically advantaged than me could make something out of this.

Woo hoo, when we signed Kazim-Richards.

Woo hoo, people said we don’t need him.

Woo hoo, but I’m pleased that we signed him.

All of the time that we were never sure why we need him.

    Pleased we signed him!

    Naa-na-na-naa na-na-an-naaaaah woooooo hooooo! (Repeat)

  7. Perhaps if we weren't in such a financial pickle then we might not have put him in the shop window and pushed a little harder to keep him with us for a couple more years. Seems to be that the timings were all wrong. I'm sure if Bellingham was at the same point in his career as Kaide when all the Brexit/Covid stuff happened then they might have had to offload him for a lot less money.

The reality is, he made his way into the first team picture for a whole season (not just 5 minutes in a match that was already won) and proved he was ready for 1st team football, Kaide needs more time to develop and we couldn't afford that. I'm also pretty sure Birmingham have closed their academy now as they can't afford to run it. At least we can still bring through new youngsters and there will hopefully be more stars developed in time.

Not sure another right winger is really a massive priority to be honest, we’ve already got Waghorn, Mitchell-Lawson and Ibe back as well.

Does look like this one is happening though, and to be fair, I’m delighted with it on paper. Roberts is a top class talent at this level going forward, and has potential to get loads better still if he improves his all round game. Surprised Boro haven’t used him more.

He’s left footed. Which is something we need in my opinion. We’ve been playing Knight and Jozwiak on the wings lately and Lawrence would be in ahead of Waghorn I reckon. 3 right footed players as current top choices. Ibe is also right footed, so we need someone who can balance that out and be better than Waghorn.

  9. Rooney's first ever signing as manager. Ok, it's a loan, but this one will be important for Wayne and I have a good feeling about it.

It would be a bit deflating if Lee Gregory was the first one announced (not against the LG deal, but y'know, 32 year old Championship mainstay or 18 year-old England Youth international, Man U U23 captain and all around highly rated young defender with a cool name?)

  10. With what Rooney said about only guaranteeing Evans game time in a back 3 then I guess that Mengi is coming in as 3rd choice ahead of Edmundson (who will most likely be injury cover) and will most likely feature when we do line up in a 3-4-3 like we did at bournemouth.

A direct replacement for Evans, and hopefully a step up in quality too, although he is very young so I don't expect him to dominate games like Clarke does.

  11. Good article on him here: https://royalbluemersey.sbnation.com/2020/7/10/21319277/beni-baningime-stock-rises-again-after-90-more-inactive-minutes-everton-southampton-match-recap

    Standout quotes:

At which point: enter Beni Baningime. Into this discussion, at least, if not yet the pitch. Because five games into Project Restart, and Baningime, 21, is beginning to establish himself as more of a placeholder than a footballer, the ninth of Everton’s nine substitutes, a bunch of letters scribbled hastily at the foot of a list of names.

That’s not to suggest Baningime has nothing to offer Everton; far from it, in fact. It’s easy to forget, ancient history it now feels, his rousing first team debut at Chelsea in October 2017, when a vigorous, immaculate tackle on Ethan Ampadu characterised a man-of-the-match performance. “He’s a class act and probably shouldn’t be playing at this level,” said mentor and then-caretaker boss David Unsworth after an under-23s game last September, like a proud dad on parent’s evening.

    Most interesting tthough:

Not only tough-tackling, but the energy to glide from box to box, and - the rarest of rare things - the ability to pass the ball forward.

Could be short term Bielik replacement if the lad from Ligue 1 doesn't fancy joining
