Couldn't lead a horse to water.

    Shambolic decision.

Hope he proves the neigh sayers wrong.

I actually think this could work out great. He played some of his best football when he was the main man at Ipswich. Perhaps goving him the armband is Rooney’s way of giving him that ego boost to get the best out of him. We certainly need his best next season.

Wonder if anyone else's transfer forum has been silent for 14 hours?

    Depressing isn't it?

As soon as it's come home this evening DCFC will release info on the takeover and accounts.

Messi will be flying back to Europe next week with the Copa America trophy. All is seemingly normal until his plane diverts to East Midlands airport where he is then whisked off quickly to Pride Park in time for the Man U friendly to be unveiled in the new DCFC 21/22 kit (White with blue shorts and pink trim to stir up debate on the forum).

People will ask how we signed him with our embargo, which is when Stephen Pearce appears with Rick Parry and pulls his hair until the mask comes off and reveals Steve Gibson who has been impersonating the EFL chairman all this time. "I would've got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids" he mutters as he's led away.

Rooney is free to ring around his mates and see who's available for a kickabout next season. Neymar, Ronaldo and Mbappe all cancel their contracts to join Messi and the most feared attack in the world. Unfortunately, Jagielka and Stearman aren't up to much at the back and ship at least 6 or 7 goals per game. HOWEVER... the newly dubbed "Battering Rams" frontline soon gel and average at least 10 goals per game between them for the rest of the season gaining promotion with at least 12 games spare.

    Never a dull moment.

(They all retire at the end of the season and we go on to beat our 11 point record in the prem with a measly 7 points - all draws)

  3. So much respect for Cav!

I have to admit, I thought his chance at the record had gone years ago when he couldn't beat Greipel, Kittel, Ewan etc. in sprints he usually would've dominated, but chapeau to him for keeping going and working hard to get back to the top of his game. He's been a revelation this season.

I wouldn't put it past him getting at least 2 more wins before the tour is over.

  4. He'll play against us in that friendly, one of our u23s will injure him for the season. Then it'll transpire that we have to pay his loan fee and wages while he's out. He'll then magically be fit for next season, at which point he'll go to another team in the Championship and be the player of the season.

There's a bit of positivity for ya.

But why would they choose to do a deal with us?

This is meant to be the biggest merchandise deal outside of the Prem and, judging by the state of our club at the minute, I can't help but feel that there would be better choices elsewhere.

Unless, of course, this is just the Rooney factor, having spent some time over there in the US?

For the record, I'm inclined to agree with you. I just find the commercial side of this quite interesting.

As I mentioned earlier, we seem to be the only team they deal with outside of a top flight league at the moment. It’s weird and could mean something is bubbling away.

The Rooney factor is one thing, but not enough to justify a 10 year deal when there are loads of prem  teams that would be better money spinners right now.

https://www.fanaticsinc.com/all-partners Using our old badge on their website though!

Probably because our actual current logo doesn't say the team name on it and will be confusing to people that don't know us.

I've been aware of Fanatics for a while, did some research after finding a job listed for them last year in my field of work. They're obvisouly expanding their net across sports and new international territories, but I'm not sure that this means they will be taking us over.

What is interesting though, is that (I think) we're the only second tier team that they work with according to their site.

Also, when companies the size of fanatics do a normal deal with a minor club (in comparison to the huge global names they work with) it often takes a while for the larger company to acknowledge this on their site and show changes, but having the DCFC stuff on their site this morning when the club has announced it seems to show that there may be more in this.

I could also be overly optimistic and none of this has any relevance.

Well he said the squad we have is enough to operate with.. do you agree with that?

He was referring to the squad for the pre-season friendlies. The next sentence (and the sentence before) indicate that we are looking to add to the squad later in the window when it is possible to do so.

Please take on board all of the article instead of scanning for snippets to support a worst case scenario.

"We have a clear plan ready, pending the future ownership." - For me this is a key quote. It seems a lot of us have thought we'll be scrambling in the bargain bin looking for free transfers on cheap wages. But this (to me) reads that the club aim to have some spending power to bring in the right players when we are able to do so. It all depends on when we can get the new owners in place though and lift any restrictions, but Pearce is indicating that it should be in time for us to add to the squad before the end of the transfer window.

Is it just one year or did he mean he's back again next year?

I read “back for another year” as though he’s just extended for a year. I’d be glad to hear if he’s signed for longer though.
