  1. Definitely need a CB this month. Maybe not to disrupt the Cashin/Fozzy partnership, which is doing so well at the moment, but injuries/suspensions will come and we can't rely on Davies or Chester to be fit.

If somebody would have told me back in July that Fozzy would be our first choice CB whilst mounting a play off challenge, I'd have laughed and laughed hard. Fair play to him and the coaching team, rekindled some serious form after seasons of injuries and cameos.

  2. Great win, bring on the next game.

Can all the misery guts please stop and just enjoy today for once. Moaning about Warnes explaination of his Christmas Day at home or his style of play that is so turgid is just absolutely boring.

Enjoy your Christmas, smile, life could be worse. We’re in a s*** state and we’re doing ok, cheer up jeysussss.

    Merry Christmas.

  3. A game of fine margins but as well as I thought we played it's still so very classic England in tournament football. We're never on the right side of the result against the big boys are we.

As for Southgate, not sure where I stand at the moment. I thought this would be his last tournament and if I'm honest I expected us to have a bit of a stinker, following the last Nations League performances we had running up to this. But after it's all said and done I think we had a good tournament and lost to one of the best teams, no disgrace at all. Manoeuvred the group easily and made easy work of the first knock out round. I don't have the same feeling as I did after the Italy game where I thought Southgate could have done more.

Southgate's not a top class manager but he's a really good fit for this England team I feel. I'm not sure it's as simple as getting rid and unleashing our attacking players on the world to win a tournament.

On another note, how bad has Mason Mount looked this WC? Looks miles away from being international quality. Can't say I see much of him at Chelsea, so no idea how he plays in the PL, but he's been a real disappointment every time I've watched him this WC.

  4. I think we were alright considering all the circumstances today. A drab game but at least we tried to play a bit, take the point and move on. Good minutes into all the injury returners. Centre mids at both left and right back doing ok again, old timer MOTM... it wasn't all bad.

I've not seen much of Wednesday over recent years but if I could have guessed what a Darren Moore coached side looked like it'd be close to that. There was only Barry Bannan that wanted to play football.

I know s*** refs are a given at this level but they can at least try and be consistent with their s*** decisions. Some baffling decisions considering what he was letting go.

  5. We can say what we want about Southgate but another tournament group stage navigated with ease. Three on the bounce. Obviously there are tougher tests ahead but another tournament with no surprises suits me fine. A fair few 'favourites' have had it much rougher against worse opposition.

Thought Rashford was poor up until the freekick and then was sublime afterwards. Can't drop the tournament joint top goalscorer now. Hendo added that bite we lacked on Friday so I see no way back in for Mount. Plenty to be pleased about, even the first half snoozefest was completely controlled and we should have been 1-0 up after the Rashford 1 v 1. A good nights work.

    Onto Sunday!

  6. Walker for Trippier, Hendo in for Mount, Foden for Sterling and Rashford for Saka.

Only change I wouldn't have made would be the last one but I don't think there can be too many complaints after the performance vs the US.

    Don't mess this up.

This seems to be what Warne wants us doing.

Not sure that's true, especially after the Torquay post match interview that we heard.

I don't think you can say any of the 11 players have executed anything expected of them so far, even the bare minimum. Tactics/selection obviously up for debate but it's up to the players to perform too and they're not today.

We look like we’ve set up to match their system and to try and stop them playing, which we’ve mostly done, bar one bit of poor defending from a set piece.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think we should be trying to outplay a team a league below us, make the most of having better players than them ?‍♂️

Screams Nigel Clough. And nobody wants to go back there.

Get Ousla and Dobbin on to try and win the game. Who cares if we go out? Let's at least have a go.
