Well play a different style of football to suit us instead

Literally got nothing to do with your "barely any press" post that I was replying to. Didzy doesn't all of a sudden start running the bleep test to finish because we're playing 442 and passive. He's 34 mate.

You say that its about running alot but we sit deep and have barely no press, you look at ipswich press compared to ours its unreal! When we press it knight running round like a headless chicken, Ipswich press they all press the feont 3 are closing all of our space! I feel like warne needs to sort it soon because derby fans are not going to accept this for much longer

Hirst (24), Chaplin (26), Burns (28) and Broadhead (24). You're just not going to get the same out of Didzy (34), Collins (32) and NML (30). Knight is the only one who presses well and it's not really surprising is it? He's 22. You're comparing apples to pears.

The last statement is just mental really isn't it. Warne won't be able to do anymore with our press until he's able to bring in some players who can do it for 90 mins.

I would'nt use the words "way more possession" today's game we had 56%, Peterboro 58% and Fleetwood 56% and thats not way more in my thoughts. 73% against Lincoln (14th Feb) was probably our best in recent months and that was a crap performance that ended 1-1 even after 21 shots at goal.

Conceding goals from our own corners, can't be classed has having possession when you pump a ball into the 6 yard box, unless you take a short corner to keep possession.

It’s more than enough though. We’re third on average in the league, which I think is good enough for this team and manger given the circumstances. The use of that possession however…

The corner thing was a tongue in cheek jibe at our own failings - having the ball at the furthest away possible distance from our goal and still conceding. It’s clearly not “safe” possession for us.

Building from the back, keeping possesion, having more possession means the opponents don't have the ball to hurt you.

We generally have way more possession than teams we play under Warne.
I don’t necessarily think that statements true either, given that we concede goals from our own corners!

I think either style would work if your players apply themselves. We’re way off it.

  5. Not really arsed about the result, expected a defeat and they delivered it. Ipswich were better in the moments that mattered. Can't see anything wrong with Cashin's goal though - be nice if we could get a decision like that in our favour.

Another midfield better than ours. The question marks get bigger on Knighty, Bird and Smith being "very good" players in this division. When was the last time any of them left their mark on a game in a positive way. Knighty had a great game vs France by all accounts yet plays like that in League One? Somebody make it make sense. Bird looked terrible on the ball.

Hopefully the clamour on here for Smith in midfield and Rooney at right back slips silently into the night. Exposed and punished again.

Despite the sloppy start I don't think we were that bad. McGoldrick sorts his 50p head out and the ref/lino get a grip for the corner and who knows what result it ends up. Hopefully the flat track bullies return vs FGR, MK and Burton in the next few - we need it.

Ipswich were good though - decent away performance. Probably chase the top two at this rate. Their fans were pretty quiet and all stunk of BO when encountered up close though - hopefully don't have to smell them again in the play offs.

  6. Thankfully been out all day so only had to catch up on the petulant rage in here and not live it minute by minute as it happened.

    Biggest take aways;

Warnes crap for not changing things at HT (when we were putting in one of the best performances of the season away from home).

Play Rooney and Thommo who have been liabilities more than reliable when playing this season.

Can’t be arsed to read anymore. This threads a farce. You’d think we’ve actually had a good team and good football to watch for the majority of the past two decades considering the opinions in here. Entitled b*******.

No doubt Warme and the team can do better. But f****** hell. Have a word.

  7. Great win, nice to see that one out with relative ease - Pickford a spectator in the main. Hard to see how we mess this one up from here... Hopefully get Ukraine beat on Sunday and then look at sorting a potential 11 for Germany next year against the minnows.

    Up the stale/disgraceful England boys!

I hope Collins and Hourihane don't stay another year

I prefer Liam Thompson in that left defensive midfield position, let Sibley take the corners and free kicks or Bird.

Hourihane's a weird one. Really frustrating watching him and whoever is his oppo is get dominated despite their talent, but his numbers are fantastic. There's no doubt the quality is there, it's the rest of what he brings where there are question marks for me.

If he plays the remaining 9 games he'll likely be close to 10 goals and should get over 10 assists. Seen nothing from Thommo to suggest he's capable of getting anywhere close to those numbers. I'm all for blooding the youngsters but we've got to have a bit of substance as well.

Same sort of vein to what Tom Lawrence was for us the last few years. Loads of questions around his general play at times, missing for consecutive games but he would win you a game out of nothing. As miserable as the football and goal scoring was under Wazza, if we didn't have Tom chipping in it would have been even worse.

  9. Very similar to our game there the other week.

Couple of goals up without doing too much with the ball, just relentless with the press causing mistakes. Still giving Wednesday chances who probably should be level. Absolutely milking the freekicks from the refs - making every little nudge seem like a clear foul. They're good at what they do.

On the second goal, it’s worth watching Fozzie’s Olympian sprint from the half way line (after which his missed tackle as he tried to avoid conceding a penalty was unfortunate rather than negligent). Compare it to Hourihane’s effort - The flying Fozzie arrives and Hourihane stops running, despite then still being in the action.  He’s becoming an expensive midfielder Hourihane, in terms of our goals conceded. Warne should have considered a few games ago what the team looks like without him imo

Good spot, one that's crystal clear from the highlights and PW and the coaching team would have had a perfect view of it.

I think the people complaining about Warne's timing of the subs need to have a look at this clip. I've seen people call the subs embarrassing and disrespectful in here - I'd argue Hourihane's effort is both of those. I can take poor passing and rubbish corners all game but giving up is unacceptable. He could have stopped that goal.

The only thing PW got wrong was not dragging him straight away.

  11. I’ll make my mind up next year when he’s had a full pre season. This year was always a free hit regardless of the manager, Play Offs will be a bonus. Not sure replacing LR with PW has been Clowes’ greatest moment yet - purely because it’s upped the ante in the expectancy stakes. You can feel it at every home game. Far too many fans want to support through only the thick and not the thin.

As far as this year is going, I think a few things are starting to catch up on us. Our younger players are very inconsistent, Didzy now looks out of whack when not too long ago everything he touched turned to gold, as colossus as Fozzy was during that unbeaten run I think we’re now seeing the Fozzy we know, NML looks like the one Sheff Wed saw for the most part. Throw in the injuries and some dodgy first elevens and our current form is not surprising.

Hopefully it’s back to the 11 that saw us through most of our good run and play them into some form. That also requires the players to do their part too - far too many off the pace currently.

Knight trained. Where did you hear the 'badly' bit?

PW post match. Sounds like the opposite of what you want the day before a game.

If that's Knight after a week's worth of training it makes today even worse for me, I thought I was being kind thinking he hadn't trained. He was so far off the standard required it's laughable he's going to be playing international fixtures next week.

But it isn't hindsight is it? I am normally positive, at least before we have kicked a ball. So I posted that it looks like a strong bench. But to put it more bluntly (which is what I was thinking), the players who came off the bench should all have started. And we still had Harvey White, Liam Thompson, Jake Rooney completely unused. It's not as if he didn't have options.

It is when at kick off neither of us knew Didzy and Knight had only trained a day this week (and badly with the sound of it).

I'm all for playing our better players but can I see why they didn't start and those that won us a game last week kept their place.

Agree on this, knight should be doing far more in the division if he’s really a £5m player. Similarly no one is ever banging our door down for bird and sibley.

cashin been poor a while now as well.

Will give them the benefit of the doubt today as they are both returning from injury but we can't pretend we've not seen this rodeo before. Second to every ball. No control in midfield at all.

Cashin I don't mind as much, especially when you think it's his first full season. No denying he's had a rough month compared to his other performances over the season but very immature in his development. Compared to Bird and Knight on their fourth full season....

  15. All hindsight now but completely the wrong team. I can see why PW went with that 11 on the back of that win at Oxford and DMcG & JK not training much... but those that had the opportunity completely blew it. I think that puts to bed any rose tinted glasses views that Curtis can do a job for us, same with Fozzy at LB - the legs aren't there. Subs should have been after 20 mins not 43.

Bullied again and ripped apart by a superior midfield. Not sure how many games that is this year we've seen our lot chase shadows but I'm wondering if I'd be that arsed if we sold Sibley, Knight or Bird for significant fee's in the summer. They consistently can't do it. Boys chasing men around today again.

Big game next week, lose that one and it's panic stations.

Fleetwood were excellent btw. Strong in the tackle but played some nice stuff. Brave on the ball when they had to be and defended well - completely deserved win. Stockley would be an upgrade on Collins on todays showing. As would their no. 16 vs Bird/Hourihane/Knight.

The conspiracy theorists might have a point when it comes to Knight and McGoldrick. I think Warne may have some personnel issues to address - if so I hope he manages them well. He seems to have a habit of stirring the pot a bit then restoring calm. He needs to remember he’s got some bigger egos around than he had at Rovrum, also that Knight is very marketable

Steady on talking this into existence ?

Struggling to believe his post match update on the pair are all lies.
