We are crap so far. No shots on target as yet and words can not express how bad Sibley and Cashin have been. Much better needed. Very disappointing.

It’s not the corner that’s the issue.
No one in Derby’s team can run, jump and head a football.
They all seem to want to head it from a standing start. It’s no surprise that they are beaten with such regularity or that on the few occasions they do succeed, the ball goes upwards not goalwards.
Showing my age now but years ago Southampton had a guy called Ron Davies at No.9 Boy could he head a ball. The thing I remember when I was watching Derby at the Dell was that he started his run outside the box for every corner. By the time he reached the ball he was at full height in the air approching the ball like a missile. Absolutely leathel in the air. Your point about the standing start took me back.

"Derby boss Paul Warne says he was struck by Jurgen Klopp's height and "amazing" teeth" ?
Just as well he never met Brian Clough or he would have peed his pants!

Definitely will be a weakened side. They'll still have better players than us obviously but you just have to hope that they lack chemistry and cohesion as a team.
Derby shouldn't just sit behind the ball and let them dictate things. That's what they want. They will likely have some young players on show who will be good with the ball. As soon as they don't have the ball they will be vulnerable. We need to impose ourselves on them, if we do that we can cause them problems.
Best thing we can do is stop giving the ball away so easily.

MK Dons sold out. At the moment our away support is unbelievable compared to previous years.
Just now 19 single seats available.

I notice this has brought out the wrist-slashers in force. How long do you reckon it will be until they've burnt themselves out and it'll be safe to come back on the forum? ?
I'm one of the most optimistic fans you will get but I'm not going to stick my fingers in my ears and go La La La pretending all is good whilst watching that.
That second half was shameful.

This is going to be a very difficult game. We have to realise that for most teams in this division coming to play at Pride Park against us is their cup final. They are bringing far more fans than normal and the whole fixture is a day out. We really need to be at our best.

The great unknown in this debate is the conversation between David Clowes and Paul Warne during the job offer discussions. Was style of play and the players at his disposal discussed? Surely it must have been and assuming so, what was the agreement/conclusion? Is David clowes now wringing his hands thinking, this isn't what was promised, or is he quietly content watching an expected and planned revolution.
I have my doubts about Warne, this is a huge opportunity for him but he has no experience of a club with expectations. To an extent Rotherham became a free ride.... Apart from last season It isn't and never will be at Derby.

This is going to end in tears reasonably soon imo.

Fighting for second balls is an effective tactic for players and teams with limited technical ability. Our players are not suited to second ball battles. It causes us problems. Im worried that Warne has only ever played that way.

Your opinion is a bit coloured though.

The players who came in said they made the choice because of the style of football and the support for the club. Most won't be happy playing Warnes way.

Basically I think our new owner has made a mistake in bringing in Warne. Bris has summed up perfectly above.

I predict Warne and co will soon find out the weight of expectation at a big club. Not good enough.

Two of their goals were ‘long balls’ run onto by ‘Usain Bolt’. How does that make them impressive? Odhuro was let down by lack of midfieldsupport. Thomson was awful, most of his passes were poor and he ran around aimlessly - unpopular to say I’m sure. The third was a deflection.
It wasn’t our first team and some of our youngsters matched theirs.
For me I don’t want to loan any more young players, we need experience.
I agree with some of this Roy but not all.
- The passing and moving combined with speed and energy that City showed was outstanding. We struggled to live with it.
- Odhuro looked out of his depth although he was exposed.
- Rooney looked out of his depth.
- Thompson ran around all over the shop but was, as you say, awful in possession, tackling and passing.
As I've mentioned before, worryingly our manager thought Thompson was superb as such Ive lost faith in his ability to assess. Anyway, lets hope it was all a bad dream and we come out and play Ipswich to death on Friday. Not holding my breath though.

So in roughly one and a half days we have sold 3,899 tickets to members for the Liverpool game.
