Just seen that Ipswich have signed Nathan Broadhead for £1.5m. I’m surprised he’s gone for such a little fee I was under the impression he was highly thought of.

Plymouth have made 5 signings and I’m pretty sure Bolton have added to their squad.

If Derbys chance of promotion was tough before jan, the inability to strengthen considerably is a right royal kick to the balls.

Warne said recently that he views January signings as panic buying. Or words to that effect. Much rather strengthen in the summer as a rule he said.

Personally I'm not bothered what the others do.

I asked about booking a table at the Yard late last year. They could not tell me if it was opening again.

I guess the club are assessing all the options to generate more money, I wonder how viable the Yard is outside of matchday. There are some other restaurants nearby so there must be some demand.

On our match day visits from the South Coast we used to always book a table at the yard. Was a great way to set up for the game. Shame its not fully open.

  3. I've been critical of the Warne style of play earlier in the season but in fairness we are starting to see players moving the ball forward with accurate  passes much more quickly and with much more accuracy. Even when it's long its been much more accurate . If we can keep this up and hopefully improve even more then I'm definately a convert. We'll done PW now keep it up.

He was great today. Helped he was played in what seemed like a 40 yard exclusion zone like, but he did use it well.

I'm rather hoping Warne has found his best position. Like the above it's tempered with the space FGR gave him but if he can continue in that form that's where he should play.

  5. I suppose for me the issue is style of play. We are committed it seems to kick and rush football whereas to me that is not what I want to see nor is it progressive.

If we get promoted with it do we suddenly change our style and bin off Warnes own players for more fluidity or do we stick with it and presumably do a Rotherham and get relegated a couple of times?

The shame is Rosenoir had these same players playing at a technical level far higher than they are showing now. It's true we couldn't score which caused us problems particularly away from home but that failing is still generally with us.

    Not a happy Ram.

I sometimes think people forget that we are in league 1, we have a league 1 squad, and we’re playing against league 1 teams. If some of our players could finish, they wouldn’t be playing in league 1 with us. If burton could finish, they wouldn’t be bottom of league 1. L

i know we think we’re this massive draw, and compared to most league 1 teams, we are, but we are still league 1. We’ve been spoiled by the quality on show at the World Cup.

As I said, league 1 crap

I think that the failure to get a good attacking RB, has cost us this season. Over the last few seasons, the likes of Bogle and Byrne have featured at the top of our assists' statistics. The thought of NML and a good attacking RB working together is quite exciting.

Talking of right backs, where did Nathan Byrne actually end up?

  8. Let's not rewrite history. The first half was appalling, only Wildsmith came out with any credit. The worst two were Cashin and Sibley closely followed by most of the others.

Second half was a big improvement and both Cashin and Sibley improved hugely. I don't agree with the excuse of playing  out of position either . Basic skills of control, passing, crossing and shielding the ball don't change.

It’s not the corner that’s the issue.

No one in Derby’s team can run, jump and head a football.

They all seem to want to head it from a standing start. It’s no surprise that they are beaten with such regularity or that on the few occasions they do succeed, the ball goes upwards not goalwards.

Showing my age now but years ago Southampton had a guy called Ron Davies at No.9 Boy could he head a ball. The thing I remember when I was watching Derby at the Dell was that he started his run outside the box for every corner. By the time he reached the ball he was at full height in the air approching the ball like a missile. Absolutely leathel in the air. Your point about the standing start took me back.
