I'm hearing this alot .  Wanting and buying are different things.  If we were in doubt going into the season, we should have offered Sibley more time in his position.  We have two players in Adams and Ozoh who play the same position and a goalie who'll never play. We have a dearth of strikers adequate at this level.  More should have been done in over 3 months and the season starts tonight.

What would you have done exactly? Its alright sitting there saying "more should be done"

But if you have got your number one targets that you want, and you get told that you have to wait because his club want to look at thim in pre season? Or they say "yes you can take him but at the moment I have a lot of players away on holiday still due to the Euros, so when I get everyone back, we can let him go"

Do you just say no straight away and move on to players you dont want as much? Just to say you have made a signing.

Whats the issue with having Adams and Ozoh? There will be games where they are both needed, games where one is injured. You have 9 subs, you need depth.

So last season when we were going for automatic promotion, we just change our set up, change our best team (a team that won 8 out of the last 10 games and conceded 3 goals) play Sibley, just incase we may not be able to have a number 10 in for the first 3 games of the season?

Then when Sibley turns down a deal and says he wants to move on, we would still be in this position now.

We could easily go and sign 4 players tomorrow that nobody wants.

We have 3 league games before the window shuts.

Middlesbrough have bought 20 year old attacker Micah Hamilton from Man City for around £4 mill. Pep has played him in the Champions League and he has scored . Boro are a mid- table team with a mid- table budget . Can we expect anything similar ?

Of course, we aren't there to make up the numbers, we have a good Championship budget, one that will see us be competive.

Just incase you aren't aware, there are 3 weeks left of the window...just incase.

You could just as easily say we should have kept Sibley and looked for another 10 as we'll need two.  Adams was an emotional signing.  A good player at league 1, technically lacking at this level or he'd play for Cardiff.

Sibley played full back last season.  You sign a better option than him there as he would tread water against some of the wingers in this league and utilise him further forward to try and get 7 or 8 goals.

We are starting the season with Collins as our only striker.  Jackson and Mendez Laing are not strikers.  Washington wouldn't get through customs he'd set off that may alarms.

We are going into this season with far less goal threat than we had last season having released 5 or 6 players and had a cash boost from sell ons and TV money.  We needed  more strikers last season but muddled through with 5 games here and there in support of Collins and a resurgent Gayle who had a cameo.  What if Collins knee breaks down and we have 3 games without a striker.  The first 3 games are essential to get some confidence on the board.  There has to be a striker somewhere on a reasonable wage with pace we could have brought in in over 3 months as well as an out of form Yates.

We need to be in a position to compete for signings that the middle of this division would also be interested in .  I'm not seeing it bar Ozoh thus far and we don't want to drop off the others.

Who did we release that was such a goal threat from last season?

Sibley and Hourihane got about 12 last season.  Gayle had a few, Waghorn had about 5 early doors. I've no issue letting players go due to fitness or improvement.  In terms of goals - Yates may get 10 as his game involves more link up from what i've seen.  Other than that no improvement in an attacking sense.  We've lost goals

But why keep Sibley? If he was as good as some of our fans think he was, we would have had no choice for him to play in his best position and he would have scored goals at league one level. He played under several managers here an nobody continuously selected him. Because he is not good enough. If he was and we had a championship number 10 who was capable of 7-8 goals, he wouldn't have signed on a free for Oxford.

Do you think if there was the exact striker out there we wanted on a reasonable wage, that we wouldn't have signed him by now? Or possibly because the one we want is not available just yet, so we have to wait. Try and name one?

Bristol City have spent £2.5 million on Armstrong who has scored 3 goals in 61 games. Osula gone for £15 million. Stansfield meant to be 6 million.

Midfield was paramount and to get 4 midfielders in was a necessity and a striker who last 2 seasons has top scored for his club is pretty good business. Kenzo looks a real find. Osborn is experienced at this level.

Adams is not in the team to be technical. He is in the team to do his job, which is energy, breaking play and protecting the back 4.

I think it’s offensive to label the Adams transfer as emotional. For fans it probably was but look how brutal Warne was with letting others leave. To suggest he bought him because of the emotions of last season is fairly harsh.

Cheers . There are also non contracted players available after 3 weeks . Like we did with Dwight Gayle . On my way to Blackburn - expecting to be very competitive v a bottom 5 team.

We didn’t let Sibley go, he rejected the contract offered to him. Waggy barely played due to injury. Hourihane barely hit in the team towards the end and certainly wouldn’t now. Yates scored more than them all including Gayle who also was injured.

Weve also kept our 2 highest scorers and added someone (Yates) who scored more than anyone else in our team. So not sure your point is valid mate

We can expect to ship a lot more goals this season, that's what we can expect.

Boro are being tipped to challenge for autos by some, and firm playoff challengers by most. Gibson is splashing the cash again because big sales in the last two seasons have put them in a sound position FFP-wise. We aren't in that league yet.

Why not stop being coy and just come out with whom you think should have done more in the transfer window and what they should have done differently to appease you.

And please don't come back with generalisations such as the football club......

You will be correct if that is our position when the transfer window shuts but until it does it’s not fair to totally grumble - we better not let Brown go out on loan if we are not getting any goal scores signed - he can gain experience with us !

It's not offensive, it's an opinion that he's a very good top end league 1 player but  He'll struggle in this one.

I think this post is an opinion and perfectly valid I think accusing our manager and recruitment team of making an emotional signing is quite offensive?
