So if Billy Sharp turns us down (Cov still interested apparently) who do you think we'd go for? Who's still left! A quick glance at Tranfermarkt shows the following out of contract players who'd perhaps realistically / maybe sign for the Rams:

Connor Wickham

Macauley Bonne

Lewis Grabban

Keyendrah Simmonds

Josh Eppiah

Nathan Delfouneso

Dom Dwyer

Lyle Taylor

Gary Madine

Bright Enobakhare

So if we can't spend any money (which it appears we can't) who out of those would you take? If any?

Personally I'd try for Macauley Bonne. Right age and has scored goals at this level.

Thoughts? Or is it just Billy Sharp or bust at this stage?

Connor Wickham - Always injured

Macauley Bonne - If we had to sign someone from this list

Lewis Grabban - High wage demands

Keyendrah Simmonds - Not even L2 quality

Josh Eppiah - Not even L2 quality

Nathan Delfouneso- Not even L2 quality

Dom Dwyer - Plays in the MLS for a reason

Lyle Taylor - No

Gary Madine - Injured until Christmas

Bright Enobakhare - Not even good enough for the Indian league.

The obvious one to add to the list is Chris Martin.

The only other free agent who I'd be half tempted by is Elvis Manu - previously at Brighton. Awkward, gangly, doesn't look like a football at times, but would add the much desired pace to our forward line. Can also play on either wing.

Loan options:

Daniel Jebbison - Match time seems limited at Sheff Utd. 1 goal and 2 assists for them in 489 minutes last season, and 7 goals in 1238 minutes for Burton the season before. A Championship loan is more likely.

Jay Stansfield - 9 goals and 7 assists in 2505 minutes at Exeter. A Championship loan is more likely.

Josh Coburn - 10 goals in 2308 minutes last season at Bristol Rovers

Reyes Cleary - 16 goals and 3 assists in 12 games for West Brom u21s. Doesn't appear to be in their first team plans this season.

Dickson-Peters - 2 failed loans out so far, but has 18 goals and 7 assists for Norwich U21s over the past 2 seasons

Dom Ballard - 13 goals and 4 assists for Southampton U21s last season. Still only 18.

Divin Mubama - 13 goals and 2 assists for West Ham U21s. Played twice in the Conference League, scoring 1 and assisting 1

Dane Scarlett - Didn't quite work for him at Portsmouth last season. 4 goals and 1 assist in 1719 minutes (3 goals and 1 assist in 1032 mins when starting CF) with little impact when on the wing

Nathan Young-Combes - a goal contribution every 65 minutes when on loan at Wimbledon last season. 3 goals and 3 assists prior to picking up an injury, resulting in a recall in January.

Do I think we need a striker? Yes

Do I think any of those listed would improve us? No

If they are our only options may as well just save the money

That's what Warne thought in January, hence us not signings a 3rd CF to compete with McGoldrick and Collins.

Since our forward options are currently: Sibley, Barkhuizen, Mendez-Laing, Waghorn, Washington and Collins, we definitely need someone. As promising as DBrown is, he needs a full season at U21 level before being a full time member of the first team squad.

+1 for Stansfield.

Hate to burst the bubble... Not a chance

-he's above this level and Fulham would want him in the champ

-if he comes back to league one, it'll be at exeter again. He lives in Cullompton, his dad is a tragic legend there who has a stand named in his honour, he and Caldwell are peas in a pod and the fans love him

Sing a song for Stanno.
