Ambitious
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Peterborough pick up six points. Barnsley will be resting players for the playoffs, so it’s not like they’re going to be full strength. On the other hand, Wednesday are likely to have something still to play for going into the last game. Far from over, but at least we can concentrate on ourselves. It will be interesting to see how Portsmouth approach the game next week.

If they do then all Ipswich need at home on Saturday in a fairly easy game is a draw (sure they will win) to ensure autos … that means the Wendeys have nothing but (home) pride to play for against us on the last day - and may not risk or may rest some key players… So long as they still got a chance of auto promotion they'll be breaking their ass to take three points from it next game. Even if we were to win there's no guarantee of a promotion. Exeter and Fleetwood seem so simplistic to comprehend, it's like almost six points on a plate for us but unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way. You think it's hard in the play-off zone, you should try the automatic places, it's tougher than a two dollar steak. Plymouth are a real obstacle but as much as we berate them / cause an issue, got to realize they're actually a very resilient team. Caught your score today. McGoldrick was never as free-scoring when with us. Going to be interesting to see if Derby, Bolton even, makes it or not. I guess that's the enthralment of the league. Like it or not where we are there's been some stellar games and situations arisen and still to conclude. Ellafella

I am not taking anything for granted, but some of your posts in recent weeks have been OTT and dismissive of the challenge bigger, more established teams face playing at this level. That’s the point. We can’t finish 8th, so whatever happens it won’t be the lowest league position in our history. By the way, we finished 7th in the old Third Division in 1985 and four years later we finished 5th in the First Division, so maybe the lesson is that things can always get better? Bris Vegas
It’s looking pretty incredible that one of the top three could finish on mid 90 points and not get automatic promotion. Goes to show the levels in this league. Rammy03 and jimtastic56 1
StantonRam
hi all Posh getting thumped yesterday gave us a real lifeline. We now have a better GD than they do and we are 2 points clear of them as well. Bolton can therefore do what they like, they have a game in hand and a better GD than us, they are not the problem now. It's a straight shoot out for 6th between us and Posh. We are now unbeaten in 5. The significance of the GD is this - even if Posh win both their remaining games (unless they score a lot of goals in doing so) we would need a win and a draw to finish in 6th. Therefore, we have to go all out for a win against Pompey. If we did win, then unless Posh pulled off a miracle on the last day we would need just a point against the Owls on the last day to finish 6th. Trouble is though that the Owls might end up needing to beat us on the last day to secure 2nd place, which would set things up nicely for a very feisty encounter methinks! We can do this!!! Bolton haven’t been “the problem” for a while. They are an opportunity, however slim (there is very little chance they will slip up given their run in) for a team to catch. We’re definitely in the driving seat again but I do worry that Posh will beat Bristol and Portsmouth prove problematic for us. Of course the ideal would be we win on Saturday and Posh don’t. It would be nice to go into the last game not needing anything.

We can't finish lower than 7th this season unless the EFL changes the rules and starts giving 4 points for a win. We didn't get 11 points though which would be the lowest points tally in our history. But this season must be a disaster then by your account. Caerphilly Ram

MackworthRamIsGod
We could do with Barnsley beating Ipswich next and them Exeter. It would then set up a tasty last game against Peterborough. Next Saturday is must not lose, a win would be terrific. Rammy03

So, just another 2 points and it definitely won’t be our lowest ever finish. Actually, even with 4 points for a win Portsmouth can’t catch us. Wycombe can match us but, unless they overturned an 11 goal difference deficit, we’d still finish above them on gd. So the EFL will have to come up with another cunning plan.😀

UTFR
Any one know the likely semis dates so I can (ever so lightly) pencil it in, just in case. Edited April 23, 2023 by UTFR

When are the 2023 League One play-offs? The weekend of May 6 will be the final one of the League One season and determine what the play-off fixtures will be. After that, the play-off semi-final dates will be announced, but it's already safe to asuume the first legs will be played the following week. The team that finishes third takes on sixth place, while fourth and fifth will go head to head in the other tie. When is the 2023 League One play-off final? The winners of the two semi-finals will face one another at Wembley in a one-legged final, with the winner being promoted to the Championship and the loser remaining in League One. It has already been confirmed that the match will take place between May 27 and May 29, and will most likely kick off in the afternoon. https://www.efl.com/news/key-dates/ League One Play-Off Final – Monday 29 May (kick-off 15:00) Edited April 23, 2023 by Curtains Added Rammy03
Leicester Ram
I’m still hoping Bolton lose this game in hand against Accrington and even things out slightly. Last chance saloon for Accrington so hoping they pull out a performance Don't feel comfortable with a straight shootout with Posh, I’d feel a lot better if we were fighting for two spots come the final day rather than one Rammy03 and Caerphilly Ram

But thanks for your time and the advice from such a far-off place, you should apply for a job advising Joe Biden. I think he'd find your advice more beneficial than we do.
