Serial Whingers Notts Forest playtime, which we simply cannot accept.

I'll give them credit for persuading him to sign up for a year only - minimal financial risk, unless everyone suddenly wants a pay rise. And why wouldn't they, because it's not as if he's a superstar or a once World Class player like, say, Wayne Rooney or Ashley Cole, is he?

Perhaps Maryknackers has also promised an unlimited supply of heating oil from Russia too? ?

Forest fan at work was buzzing this was happening today. Reminded him that they're taking our sloppy seconds. He honestly looked distraught when he found out Lingard had played for us.

With any luck his appearances for them will be as brief as Ian Storey-Moore's were for us.

i am more disapointed its a 1 year deal so they wouldnt be lumbered with him for years if he flopped

Where did you read that?

That’s because the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, as well as The Times, have reported that Lingard agreed terms with Forest to the tune of almost £200,000-a-week.

It’s explained that West Ham were feeling confident about a reunion with Lingard and that despite being reluctant to meet the player’s preference for a £180,000-a-week deal, believed that a wage of £150,000-a-week would be enough to tempt him

150k a week might be enough for a prisoner sewing mail bags but not Jesse Lingard an international.

That's what he'll be telling them on relegation Van Hooidonk style.

Well that is a really surprising signing, based on everything I saw when we signed him - he was a signing we absolutely didn’t need - he was a signing that weakened our overall team play and was exceptionally selfish with no apparent understanding of his impact on others. I was amazed he ever got to play for England and even more shocked that he has 30 caps because he has never done anything.

you may notice I wasn’t a fan but if his reported wage is anywhere near correct he is going to carve a massive hole in team morale once the defeats start going in.

Don't think even Lingard has faith in the move if he's hoping for 3 points

Oh dear. And we thought Derby City was bad.  He'll be stoned to death tomorrow in the market square for this error.  Anyone would think he signed just for a suitcase of cash offered yesterday and knew nothing about them and their faux outrage.  This guys 30 isn't he.  Clearly never got past 15 in his head.

Kind of crazy he’d take £200k a week for a year and a relegation battle over £150k a week for presumably a 3+ year contract and europa league football. What a weird decision from him. I suspect he’s not very good at maths.

Loving the Reds on Twatter getting ultra defensive when people criticise the idea of paying him £200K a week - almost as if paying him £120K a week isn't also obscene.....

They're effectively hiring him for one season for the grand total of £10m. It could work out well for both parties, but if Forest get relegated and Lingard has a crap season or a bad injury, torn ACL say, it could be damaging to both, but catastrophic for him career-wise.
