What is that plan?

He complained yesterday about not making runs behind their defence especially in first half but then I didn’t see him once on the side telling the players to make the runs. It was blatantly obvious after five mins this was needed.

I don't know but he always goes on about whether a player is 'ready'. So in that case it's rubbish he can't get FloJo or Whittaker or Lawrence to do it?

Cocu in, as usual.

However, I do think someone like Hughton, or even Warnock, Allardyce or McCarthy, would get more out of the current crop of players. You just know Hughton or Warnock would switch us to 4-4-2, stick Marriott and Waggy up top and take us up the league table pretty sharpish. It wouldn't be pretty but my word it would be effective.

I'm Cocu in and will continue to be, but it's getting harder to be in that position and the other available managerial options are beginning to look appealing.

Cocu out ASAP, bring in a strong character who knows what's needed to do well in the Championship. There are plenty of players who could improve our squad who would not cost a fortune. At present we are a complete shambles, without a change of management we are in serious trouble.

This is Derby.

"Strange little club", that's how Pat Murphy described us as, and he's not wrong.

We've tried all sorts. Mac1&2, Clement, Pearson, Rowett and Lampard and either ruined them all or they've ruined us.

They come in fresh, 3 months later they look like tramps, Cocu included!

There's no guarantee that even a championship specialist like Warnock wouldn't go the same way, and even if they did keep us up it's no way to build longer term, we'd still be pissing about in the Championship.

Cocu will lead us out of this division I'm sure, just don't know which way!

Whoever thought that bringing in a manager without any experience of the Championship would work. Who's the fool here, I don't blame Cocu for taking the job, he must have thought he had won the lottery when he signed a four year deal.

Nearly worked last season when we brought in lampard with no championship or managerial experience ?‍♂️

Bielsa didn't do bad with no previous championship experience ?‍♂️ Wilder had no championship experience until he got sheff united promoted to it, where was farke's previous experience or wagners ?‍♂️

No agenda, you said all managers have injuries and that cannot be used as an excuse. Therefore I'm simply asking in your opinion why Pep has struggled to maintain City's form from last season as in your opinion it cannot be attributed to having several injury problems in centre defence.

I can only assume you think it's down to the manager as to why they are so far behind Liverpool this season ?

Kompany will be a huge loss this season.

You are right. It was a gamble employing Cocu. And now the gamble has become whether to retain him or not.

Up until recently, I was of the same opinion. Cocu needs time and it’s too early to judge.

But that is fair to say after 6 games. Fair to say after 10 games. Fair to say after 15 games.

But we are now 24 games in, in the thick of our worst run of the season, and looking primed for a relegation battle.

If we go all in with Cocu and it goes wrong, it could set the club back 4-5 years.

How many years have we been set back keep changing managers already ? .....just askin' for a friend ??

Would they though? I don’t think Warnock would get anything out of us unless he did something mental (and it worked) like sticking Bielik up top.

Hughton took over Brighton with a fair chunk of the season left and they finished 20th.

Agree. Then again Mel gave an unproven {in English football} manager an atypically long contract. He also did the same with Mr Clement. So Mel has yet again painted himself into a corner...Sack Cocu and Mel proves himself wrong, stick with Cocu and if we fail, Mel is wrong again. Oh the uncomfortable pirch high upon the sharp horns of that dilemma.

You usually talk a lot of sense, but I'm sure you have made this point more than once now and I am surprised that such an intelligent fella is making it.

Pesumably someone with Cocu's reputation and desirability wouldn't come to a mid-table second tier football team for a packet of pork scratchings and the promise of a bonus when he gets us promoted. He had his fingers burned with his last job, going from being linked with real stellar jobs to considering us. He obviously wanted the chance to rebuild his reputation and have the time to prove his worth and transform a club from top to bottom... and Mel was very impressive in securing his services for a club in our position. Really think its unfair to hammer him for tying Cocu down to a long contract, how else would he have been convinced to come?

Yeah, look at the other losers who had never managed in the Championship before...Daniel Farke, Bielsa, Chris Wilder, Lampard, Aitor Karanka, Slaven Bilic...

Wouldn't want Guardiola or Klopp here either. No match on Mick McCarthy or Grinny McClaren ?

Cocu in,  hasn't had a decent chance yet.  A very average squad to start with, car crashes and injuries have all hindered his plans.  He should get two windows to see what he can do.

I'm still delighted we aren't managed by Rowett any longer.....anything is better than that.

You do specialise in this kind of snappy, glib approach but I will give you a bite!

I have no idea who else were after him.. just like you have no idea who weren't after him!

So yet again he was worth a 4 year deal cos he was highly sort after - the original post set out to say we'd only get such a sort after manager if he was given a big deal. So I ask who and you say I'm being glib! Maybe you're making it up?

Seem to remember there was talk of Everton but that was pre-Fenerbache?
