Updated Bag Policies

Stephen Pearce on the updated Bag Policy.

"We are aware of the fans' feelings in relation to the club reiterating about outside refreshments etc, and so it is important to clarify the matter,

Clearly, it is not about kids bringing a packet of sweets or a soft drink to the game, or any elderly supporters who have been coming to games for years and years bringing a hot flask.

We are not going to turn people away at the turnstiles. We are are going to be reasonable and understanding about this.

However, this is more about individuals attending matches with large quantities of food, fast food, equivalent to people bringing picnics.

We are not going to start confiscating items that have traditionally been brought in over the years. We will continue to operate as normal but we will be more vigilant towards people bringing large quantities of food and drink into games."

I have reached out to the club to share fans concerns over the updated bag policy which was tweeted today by the SLO.

The food and beverage policy has been in situ for a number of years and this was intended to be a polite reminder to supporters ahead of the new season starting.

Also to put your minds at ease, below is a website snapshot of the terms and conditions page from the internet archive site from March 2018, this clearly confirms the terms and conditions have not recently been changed.

How many people are complaining for the sake of complaining?

How many are upset over spending up to an extra £5 per game?

How many are upset they’ll now have to have a cremated pie and a bottle of coke instead of some prawn sandwiches?

Multiply that by a family of 4/5 it’s a lot of money.

So what's the point in reminding fans of a policy the club don't enforce, unless they actually plan to enforce it this season? Like someone has previously stated, it's like reminding the South stand that they can't stand up during games.

Not really a big deal is it... Cant imagine the stewards taking sweets off kids or flasks off OAPs

It'll be at the clubs discretion & theyre basically saying it as a reminder so people dont take the mick

Rams fans = Cash cows

Really pisses me off this does. They'll put ducking pay turnstiles on the bogs next!

It does seem extraordinarily petty. Plenty of folk will already be buying stuff...the concourses are usually packed when I've been up to PP.

So the extra revenue is probably tiny in comparison to the lost goodwill.

Sounds like the sort of idea Barry from accounts would have without thinking about the wider picture....

1st chant of the season could really confuse the opposition.....

Stand up, if you brought your flask,

Stand up if you brought your flask,

Stand up, if you brought your flask,

Stand up if you brought your flask.....   on repeat, waving your (securely fastened) flask in the air

I must say that I’ve never seen all of these fans picnicking inside the ground on their own grub.

The reaction as ever seems a bit OTT.

My first impression was that ‘I bet this policy has been in place years’ and lo and behold it has.  Storm in a teacup (though only one bought within the ground, obvs).

What ! And then they sell you a bottle of water from an official vendor and take the cap off you. So you have to walk around with it and can’t put it in your pocket. Complete Idiots. Total lack of intelligence. Never was there any policy designed to put me off buying than this.

Come on let’s name and shame .. someone actually sat down and thought it was a good idea. ?

What I suspected to be honest. Can’t remember taking any food/drink into the ground since the packet of wine gums when I was 10 to be honest.

EFL requirement?

If we bring a bag full of snap they'll confiscate it then? OK not impressed, but they won't be patting down 30000 for a bag of Werthers originals, surely?

If they're restricting what I'm taking into the ground, I'll be restricting the cash I spoff on the laughably appellated 'beer' at the ground...bubt I bet it;s a storm in a teacup. No way the students on the gate are going to give a duck.

Please don’t use phrases like that. You’ll be claiming to be a thought leader on LinkedIn next?

Thought leader? I like the sound of that. Follow me and you won’t go far wrong!

I think tonight has proven how many don’t read the small print!

I’m off to sneak into the forum terms of use that all members must purchase me a birthday present.

Forget and I’ll see you all in court ?
