"I worked with Kev Phillips at Derby and felt he brought a great deal to the strikers and was really, really good at what he did." Gary Rowett on the Stoke website.

To be honest, a lot of us myself included have wondered what Kevin had done here, but given that a number of different managers all kept him here shows he may actually be good at his job. Having said that, it won't be the same as when we hopefully announce Drogba as part of our backroom team to replace Kevin

Well we’ve been paid off for most of his coaches which is good news, more money into the coffers given we’ve only had to pay off summerfield. Should be able to put that into getting lampards new staff in.

Bloody cheek of rowett to nab the likes of Delap who’ve didn’t even bring here though, leaves us with more men to replace. Poor Kevin Poole as well left out in the cold, wonder why we haven’t sacked him too?

Seeing as were supposedly cutting costs in the academy, it's surely better to let people take up new roles elsewhere and keep redundancies down to a minimum?

Would make sense yeah, I would imagine perhaps the u16 manager will be promoted to delaps role (des walker I think?). Not a fan of academy cuts myself tbh, I’m a believer in more men to do specialised jobs will produce better players, but that’s just me. Either way up we probably won’t hear much about anything at that level Tbf so it’s probably not much to concern ourselves with.

Poole may well stay as GK coach, it's not like he's done a bad job with Carson as far as we can tell?

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for us to put our backroom staff together. It would be good to get some experienced coaches in, plus some former players looking to earn their stripes.

Interesting few days ahead. I'm assuming that this is fundamentally all sorted, it's just the paperwork. I could be wrong.

I read it that summer field will not be joining Stoke so looks like he is staying here? Very odd as Rowett brought summer field here but not Phillips.

I bumped into Kevin Summerfield on Friday in Plymouth city centre. Had a quick chat with him, seemed a bit gutted that he was no longer on the Derby payroll. I didnt want to mention why Gary did not take him on at Stoke. He just said he was back in Plymouth. Did quite a lot of years at Plymouth Argyle as youth team coach and was an ex-player. I wonder if he has secured a coaching job with Plymouth. Should have asked him, but he did look a bit pissed off when i asked him if he was still with the Rams.
