It's an interesting discussion, the correlation of match statistics to the perceived ability/failings of coaching staff. Personally, I don't think anyone has a leg to stand on, either side of the fence. No-one knows how good he is, or how bad he is. Rowett enjoyed working with him, clearly, but that doesn't tell us a great deal. Statistics from last season certainly support our finishing, although not so much our chance creation. Surely his job isn't only the motion of putting the ball in the back of the net? There were only like...6 first team coaches, something like that. If all of them had jobs that specific we'd need about 20 of them. But as has been said, 4th highest goalscorers, must be doing something right. On the flip side, he wasn't only with us last season. IMO, regardless of whether or not the new coach is better or worse than KP - there will no evidence of either. So it's a bit irrelevant to try and diminish his role at this juncture - he was just a coach, you never really feel the effects of a coach leaving. No logic, no real reasoning for questioning his coaching ability, just a face that’s been around a while and got bored of looking at. It’s why ex Derby players are always put forward as coach suggestions, all about the face. Igor manager with Poom, Eranio and Baiano as coaches, Yates as physio and Wanchope kit man. You are correct we will never know but it is a similar trend with a lot of the home grown players - been here too long - get someone different - never performed highly enough in the scraps of opportunity afforded to them which is usually when out of position - get rid - two examples mason Bennett and Jamie Hanson Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MACKWORTHRAM Posted June 27, 2018 Share Posted June 27, 2018 That's the fitness coach from Chelsea I mentioned a while back with Pascal Z. Doubt Lampard will want Kevin Poole as his Keeper coach.
