No, it was more like "got Keogh".

Think Shackell left without much fight from us. Which was odd after a good season with us. There were rumours at the time involving another player.

But yes maybe Clough discovering Keogh softened the blow and allowed everyone to move on.

Surprised to see Peterborough so far down. They ended the season with a punch with McCann looking like he can get a tune from the squad.

Think Wycombe may have had their chance with an aging squad and Ainsworth linked away.

Let’s see who we can bring in and keep.

  3. Think best case scenario is either he stays (which now seems unlikely) or we loan him out with his wages covered and maybe a loan fee of around £500k -£1m. He stays fit and has a class season, we get promoted and then come next season we’ll have him back or be able to sell him for his worth.

Can’t see another alternative which would suit us and whilst it may not be good for morale to have him sulking around the place. We didn’t spend £8m on him to be injured for the best part of 2 seasons and then let him leave for nowt.

Think him and Lawrence are definitely gone.

His tweets on Saturday said to me all wasn't well. People took them as positive, but his "I will give a conclusion to proceedings", or words to that affect, didn't sound like someone who was about to drop a whole lot of happiness on us.

He will be gone and I don't blame him.

He is used to dealing with real business people and then he comes up against Mel Morris, Quantuma and Stephen Pearce, I bet he things us English are a right bunch of wallys

You’d think Q would have a solid master plan set up when they gave him the call to come back. Apparently not.

  5. Winning Time is decent. The pilot is probably the best episode or at least the most comedic. Well worth a watch.

I wonder what the next big series will be? I’m talking Game of Thrones level big.

  6. I think Rowett’s signings in comparison to Lampard, Clement and Pearson’s appear to be good value for the money. They were very short term signings but looking at Mel’s sacking record can you blame him?

Obviously Nigel seemed to be the best when it came to sustainable recruitment but even he had some flops. Plus our scouting network didn’t stretch outside the UK.

Stevie Mac made some good loans and appeared to have the contacts but ultimately he failed to get us up.

Think the biggest fault lies once again at Mel’s door for not implementing a style and not implementing a successful scouting team. Plus throwing money around like it’s sweets.

As for Rowett being linked with QPR. I’m not sure he’s the right man for the job. I imagine he’ll have another season at Milwall before stepping down to see what else is out there. He seems to have a ceiling at championship level which must be upsetting for him.

  7. Unless MA has upped his offer significantly or he has an ace up his sleeve for the stadium I can’t see how him coming back in helps anyone.

I imagine even the administrators are pulling their hair out now. Got a good enough deal to see us on no minus figures for next season but Mel won’t play ball.

    That worked out well.

Even then, Rowett wasn't a good fit for the "Derby way" - if that means bringing youngsters through the academy and playing attacking, entertaining football.

At the time of Rowett’s appointment it was hard to tell what his style was. As both of his jobs previously was taking a struggling outfit and getting them near the top end of the league on a small budget.

He may have even told Mel what he wanted to hear to get the job. But ultimately he put his chips on experienced players to poo house us up the league and it backfired.

He had a shocker at Stoke and then to be fair he’s doing a good job at Millwall. But I guess there’s less snobbery about the football played at the Den.

  9. We’ll never know whether sticking with Pearson or Mac2 would’ve correlated to a better present. However I remember during both runs I was happy to see the back of them.

I think the bigger issue is that the players most of us have a good word for had a serious mentality issue that either allowed themselves to get to big for the club or not have the capacity to stop the rot.

In hindsight we probably should’ve allowed Bryson to go Burnley and recruit from there a la Brentford style.

  10. Sometimes a player and a club don’t quite click. Roos has been here long enough for that situation to not quite be the case but ever since the PO final there’s always been a question mark over him.

I feel a lot calmer with Allsop in goal. That said, Roos is definitely a luxury to have on the bench at league 1 level, so if Allsop was to get injured it wouldn’t be a disaster.

Personally if I was Roos I’d be off to get the number 1 shirt at another club but maybe he’s settled and happy to play second fiddle?

From my very subjective research at the Supporters Club event last night, ? I think Lawrence, Ebiowei, Knight will go, possibly Sibley - seems genuinely upset he is not getting more pitch time. Kazim already gone in his head, didn't even bother to do the meet and greet bit of the evening. Whereas Plange and Ebosele really enjoyed themselves!

Morrison struggled to cope with being in a room with us all but seemed to appreciate the love.

Bielik is either a good liar or definitely wants to stay. He is such a good conversationalist, as are Ryan Allsop and Nathan Byrne - he seems keen to stay too, says he loves it here, but will surely get offers from Championship clubs.

All the rest of the young lads seem to want to stay, they love us fans. Let's see if they change their minds when the offers come in.

Cybulski was so excited to start but knew he needs to improve, says he wants to stay his whole career, which will no doubt thrill you cynics over in the matchday thread. ?

Wayne did comment in one of his speeches (he made several) that we need to be patient over the next couple of games as he will continue to be looking at potential within the squad for next season.  He didn't sound like he was going anywhere. ?

Thanks for the insight it’s appreciated. Unfortunately it’s pretty upsetting if all of your predictions are correct.

Especially Ebiowei who has only played for 1/4 of the season and who under normal circumstances wouldn’t have even been in the first team this season. For him to get his chance in the limelight and split when the light is at the end of the tunnel is disappointing.

Lawrence is a big earner so that make sense and Knight is being courted by a handful of clubs so also makes sense.

Sibley also disappointing but can totally appreciate his point of view. Rooney doesn’t seem to rate him at all.

  12. Really excited to see who we bring in. We might not be splashing the cash but we’ll be a pull.

Both Wednesday and Ipswich seemed to really recruit in big numbers last summer and it’s worked for one of them.

If Rooney stays I imagine a couple of smart loan signings could be in the pipeline too.
