  1. Leicester are massively under performing. I rate Rodger’s as a manager but after 2 seasons his methods do tend to go boobs up.

Actually fear them as it’s reported they’d need to give BR a £20m payout and they’re cutting their cloth to stay within FFP.

BR doesn’t want to be there and the players don’t want to play for him. A change is needed otherwise they could end up back in the championship which would be crazy for saying how well they’ve played these last 5 seasons.

  2. Definitely in the camp that think he’s done an ok job to date. With how the last season and a bit has gone id like nothing more than for LR to lead us back to the championship. But I’m not yet convinced he will be the man.

Let’s not make any excuses we should be top 6 this season. The football so far has been pretty but the familiar lack of killer instinct is rearing it’s head. Plus our second halves have been a tough watch.

Ideally I’d keep him as interim but can appreciate that DC might have to act now or lose him. Another thing in his favour is that there isn’t an abundance of good managers out of work at the moment.

  3. I actually enjoyed their announcement yesterday.

That said Burnley's social media manager has been head and shoulders above everyone else this season. Charlton did a good office unveiling as well, but that got taken down so clearly some bigwigs weren't happy that they were missing out on royalties.

I'd love to know how much clubs have to pay to use this sort of stuff.

Anyway back to the source subject, they lost last night and have started the season as many predicted.

  4. Not sure whether senior striker necessarily means an OAP. Could just be a striker over the age of 25 that we’re looking to get on loan or permanent.

Out of the luncheon club there really isn’t many that get my juices flowing. But maybe we can’t be too choosey for this season.

Nixon is also hinting that our remaining budget maybe used to get this one over the line. Disappointing if true as I’d liked to have seen 3 players brought in.

Andre Wisdom, Martin Kelly, Cyrus Christie, Michael Hector, Nabby Sarr, Massimo Luongo, Dale Stephens, Danny Drinkwater, Izzy Brown, Scott Sinclair, Robert Snodgrass, Aaron Lennon, Adama Diakhaby, Marc McNulty, Adama Diomande, Andy Carroll, Oumar Niasse

All still free agents, would do a decent job at this level imo.

Christie and Brown would both serve a purpose.

Christie to be a solid right back at league 1 level and in Brown's case to have the ability to operate in all 3 of the attacking positions behind the striker.

To throw my hat in to the ring in relation to potential targets i think we could do a lot worse than George Hirst on loan from Leicester.

  6. Actually think we’re in a bit of a quandary with Knight. As far as I can see we have 5 options.

    - Play him as first choice right back all season. How happy he’ll be about that I don’t know. Some will argue that we’re wasting his talents at RB as well.

    - Providing we get an half decent offer sell him. Anything over £3m could well be considered.

    - We sign a right back and he plays either right wing or CAM. I’d argue this isn’t ideal as he doesn’t have the trickery, pace or creativity to be a demon in these positions.

    - He plays in the 2 DM positions which I also don’t think will work.

    - He plays in a midfield 3 in the Bryson role. This would be my choice but so far LR hasn’t plumped for this formation at all.

He seems to be a very good player that in true Derby fashion can’t be utilised to his and our benefit.

Why has it got to be someone above him?

(Mind you he is an interim coach,he's not been appointed yet don't forget).

I'm thinking of a wise old head to assist him not take over from him, someone with experience who can nudge him in the right direction with our goalscoring issue.

Think this is part of the problem. A couple of shrewd appointments to the back room team could ignite the players and give us fans something to sink our teeth in to.

Alas we’ve got mastermind Jake Buxton kicking around.

However, Clowes isn’t going to green light an appointment until he’s certain LR is the right man.

So we’re doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different outcome.

We need a RB who's comfortable splitting his time during games filling in as a ball-playing CM & getting back in position at RB to defend.

It's a role requiring good positional sense, a decent level of footballing intelligence and a willingness to work hard for the team.

Cyrus Christie, perfect, really? I mean, really really? Really?

    Really?

Not sure we're going to find that player this window with our restrictions. So LR may have to compromise on that masterplan and settle for a right back thats prepared to fly past the wide man and over hit a cross out for a goal kick 8 times out of 10.

  9. I'm completely split on my thoughts towards Forest's spending spree. On one hand i applaud them for having a go and not accepting relegation like Fulham and Bournemouth have done. On the other i feel sick that they've spent £150m off the back of a play off final where they should've conceded two penalties.

Even if they go down they'll have the squad to go flying back up (or have a good go). Whereas we can't spend a penny for two seasons and by the time we do meet them again the gulf in quality will be so vast its sickening.

Just shows you that luck is just as important as skill.

Yep. I worry that Rosenior is setting himself up to be Cocu-esque. We've some really good players and football at this level isn't that complicated, don't overthink it.

Funny you should say that, i believe both me and you were one of the early ones to show our disgruntlement over Cocu's tenure and i was making the similar connections during my lunch time thoughts. Lets hope its not history repeating itself.

This is our best start to a season since 2014.

And all done with a team of free transfers and a EFL enforced wage cap.

Just let that sink in for a moment.

    Point taken.

Although I would argue that it’s in the make a wish league and that to LR credit he’s assembled a solid squad for this standard. So I’d be actually concerned if we hadn’t started half decent.
