We have a lovely new colour palette to work with.

You'd expect to see some of that in accent details since it was announced with so much fanfare.

The app was recently rebranded with these colours. All the marketing materials feature these colours. There's no way they wouldn't use these on the shirt somewhere.

Not looking likely on the home shirt. Agree the away and third kit might be fancier though and FWIW i'd be happy to see the navy, pink, brown etc be used smartly on our home but doesn't seem likely.

German national team usually make a good job of it (with the flag colours as detail).

True but they have orange and red to work with.

We’ve probably had 4 decent kits in the last 25 years. Not many stinkers, but like I say much of a muchness.

  3. Gallagher coming in for Trent, no talk of Foden being dropped. Classic Southgate, Gallagher will drop a 6/10 we'll squeeze past Slovenia and then he'll think the problems are solved for the knockouts.

His treatment of Gordon, Wharton and Mainoo has been a disgrace.

  4. Always tough to make a white shirt interesting.

Plus you can never satisfy the full fan base. For instance I liked the zebra kit from a few years ago. Others voiced their disdain for it.

As long as we win, it doesn’t matter what we wear.

Not sure what he’s going to do as there’s not phenomenal options to fix it.

The issue is stylistically, every single midfielder and forward on the pitch wants to come short and receive the ball to feet. This is shrinking the pitch, forcing us deeper when the defence get the ball in our own third and it’s really easy to defend against. We need balance with some players who want to run in behind and stretch the play. This is being exacerbated further by having a left back who can’t stick wide and has to turn back whenever he gets it because he’s not a left back.

The only way you could begin to make something out of this team selection as it is, is by setting your stall out playing on the half way line and playing fast. That last point is key, as England don’t seem to know the meaning of moving the ball quickly with any intensity.

Trent needs to be dropped because he’s not a midfielder, but he then needs to either move Bellingham back to move Foden inside allowing for Gordon on the left. Or, simply bench Foden for Gordon and bring in Wharton or Mainoo (he would pick Gallagher, because Southgate). There’s clamour for Palmer but he’s the same style as what’s on the pitch. Southgate needs to drop players he perceives as better actual players for the benefit of team cohesion and balance.

It was a poor squad selection truth be told. Too many similar players. As bad as Rashford has been, he would have helped with this. You can see why he picked Sterling or Rashford so much in tournaments gone by. Added balance and pace in behind.

Yeah agree that the 1/2 changes will be the ones that everyone is saying.

I really like Wharton but he seems last in the pack and with Southgate wasting Denmark on TAA it limits Wharton’s chance drastically.

Think Gordon will get the nod and sadly he’ll need to bring his top top form if we’re going get further than the QF. FWIW once Gordon is knackered I’d put Watkins on the left. Think he played there at times for Brentford and has the hustle non of the other options have.

  6. In other news: It’s quite embarrassing that England’s two matches must be in the bottom 5 so far for entertainment. We’re stinking the place out, that’s said can’t wait for Tuesday already. Surely Southgate will do some tinkering and get us firing?

  7. Think last nights offside sits in one of footballs many twilight zones. Offside to the letter of the law, but anyone with eyes can see he didn’t affect the ball going in.

Personally think Atwell’s biggest clanger was taking too long. He should’ve just made a judgement call one way or another or ask the ref to go to the screen straight away and let him make the call.

As Koeman said post match, you can’t be talking for 4 minutes and then chalk it off, it’s not clear and obvious at that point.

Denmark do have players in their team from Spurs, Man Utd, Barcelona, Sporting Lisbon, AC Milan and Roma.   Perhaps their just not as crap as people assumed.

In isolation a point against Denmark is fair. But take in to consideration the Serbia match and the 4/5 matches before the tournament and it’s a bleak picture.

The players have always been 100% behind Southgate. But they don’t look to be playing for him IMO. Either that or tactically we’re so shot they don’t have a clue what to do.

  9. Southgate has taken us back to 2016, the way I see it is as below:

2018: Pure vibes, got us playing for the shirt and a favourable draw saw us get a semi.

2021: Peak Southgate, had the momentum from the WC, plus the squad was better, should’ve won the final.

2022: Vibes no longer as strong but the squad is the best it’s ever been. Poor tactics and Kane bottling it cost us.

2024: Most fans have had enough. Poor balance in squad. Got a match to try and work out a system that works. Can see us getting ko’d in the last 16.

  10. Would prefer Iversen or Rodak as they’re both younger and better shot stoppers IMO.

Ryan is good with his feet, but under Warne is that trait that important?

Better than Wildsmith though so wouldn’t be upset with the signing.

  11. All the twitter xG nerds rate Erhahon so would be a good signing from an analytic point of view.

A lot of talk and little substance so far with us this window. Will be intrigued to see who we eventually pin down.

To clarify, I’m not moaning about the slow start to the window, just making an observation.

  12. Regarding Nixon, he weirdly does all of his stories on a patreon which you have to pay to access. Some of his stories end up in the paper for free. But the reason why he’s so cryptic at the weekends is for this reason.

  13. To be fair we could’ve offered him the same wage. But on a 1 year deal and Warne’s told him it’s for compo purposes. Doubt he’d sign that even if financially it is the best offer.

  14. Pretty ignorant to the ins and outs of City’s case. How was they allowed to accrue 115 charges? Surely this wasn’t just one window or season?

PL just like the EFL have got themselves in a right pickle.

Personally I think clubs should be able to spend what they like. However, you can’t be punishing Forest and Everton and then letting off City because they broke more laws which delayed the verdict.

My prediction is that City get a massive fine, maybe a 20 point deduction for the following season and maybe have 1/2 titles stripped. No way they’ll be relegated or have all the titles stripped.

    True 😂

Another half century in the game for Brooke Guest, so its been a good outing for him.

David Lloyd was out for 49, caught behind off the spinner, and he didn't look too pleased with the decision. Couldn't tell either way from the replay.

Once again the likelihood of getting 20 wickets always looked remote. It’s not just a Derbyshire thing, it’s problem for basically everyone except Surrey and Essex (and this season Sussex) it seems. When Day 4 of a cricket pitch is the easiest time to bat, something is wrong.

What do you think the reason is for all the dead pitches?

No idea but everything points towards DC wanting to run the Club sensibly. Quite right in my opinion so there will only be so much allocated for new players, hence the restriction.

Luton got promoted on a shoestring, so not sure we can use tight funds as an excuse for inept performances due to poor signings.

If we spend £2.5m this summer and finish 14th, thats fair in my book. But spend that and go down and thats on Warne and recruitment.
