The most important thing Warne needs now is consistency. If we played like we did last night, he’d have next to nobody wanting him out, even if we did come off 3-1 losers to Stevenage.
We have showed on a couple of occasions that we can play good football and get good results, if we just revert back to poor football and poor results, it’s even more frustrating.
He deserves credit for the victory last night in the same way as he deserves criticism for games like Saturday. If we just perform hot & cold, we aren’t going to progress. Hopefully it’s something to build on.

We weren't playing like that when warne took over Roy,all we did under rosenior was play side to side, endless pointless passing football, this was nothing like that.
Last night's performance was a vast improvement to that style.
Swift and accurate passing, the ball going through the middle as well as the wings and 4 lovely, technical finishes.
You would have enjoyed it if you had been there,I did and I've been a critic of our gameplay not being slick or enjoyable enough.
Credit to warnes management team where it's due,the changes last night were effective and there was a lot of attractive football on display.
    Let's hope it continues.

I think that's maybe down to 2 things.
While Exeter were poor, Northampton were out of this world bad. As their fan representative posted on here, they looked like a poor League Two team, didn't press us, didn't defend, literally did nothing to oppose us. It didn't feel like an 'earned' victory, pretty as it was.
The Exeter game didn't come on the back of the 'vote of confidence', which has emboldened some of the absolute weapons we have on this forum to gob off at anyone who who's been negative about Warne, so we had a lot more posts goading others last night than we had last week which inevitable leads to the discussion about our performance getting lost to bickering.
Not denying I'll take part in the bickering 😆 but genuinely I come on after a match like last night's with every intention of spreading the positivity, but when the first thing I read is people weaponising the result (hence my earlier descriptor) it makes it difficult.

Well that was absolutely dreadful, pathetic, embarrassing etc etc from us. The worst performance we have put in for a long time which is pretty much the thoughts of the entire fanbase.
We set the team up with players playing out of position, despite that the lack of clear plan or seemingly effort was staggering and something I am not used to under our manager. We usually try and press high, but today we didnt do that or sit back with any sort of organisation. We did nothing but allow your players unbelievable amounts of space to just waltz through and around our team time and time again. As for Tyreece Simpson the less said the better, if you are not going to try at least try and buy a foul or something, but alas to no avail. The whole squad and manager come away with zero credit from that shambles.
I do remember this is a Derby forum though, not a Northampton one! You can only play who is in front of you and you took us to pieces, it could and probably should have been 6 or 7. We didnt handle your pace well, you had players on the half turn which we were unable to intercept or get near. Also all the finishes were tidy finishes which I felt our no keeper had any chance. Realistically we looked like a poor L2 side there, let alone a L1 side.
Anyways, all the best for the rest of the season, see you back here for the reverse fixture. I hope you pick up some form and get up the table, hopefully we get some players back from injury and can scrape enough wins to survive.

Connor Washington came across really, really well in his interview. Smart, sensible comments and came across as a bit brighter than the average footballer. Seemed to talk, albeit briefly, about aspects of the game that PW just doesn't but perhaps that's just a style thing - i.e. PW says it in a more... layman's fashion whereas I think as fans, we actually want to understand more about the tactical side in detail.
Anyway, CW - gone up in my estimation.
Collins however - missed some sitters.

Just on that Rotherham thing, you know when you create a topic and later think why didn't I say that at the time? Maybe trying to avoid an essay, who knows but....
I never quite understood the turning up the nose of any Rotherham player that was linked, with any signing all background checks on their character on and off the pitch, if work hard in training etc. is all gathered by references, via third parties.
What's better than previously working with a player and wanting to bring them with you?
I can only put it down to that we're bigger and better than Rotherham to be signing any of their players, which kind of ignores the current league status of both clubs, or is it a Warne = crap so Rotherham players = crap assumption?
Don't get me wrong, there is a limit to how many former players you can bring before it looks like you're recreating Rotherham at Derby and that has to be a worry, this wasn't the case. As we've seen today with the Eustace link, these former connection links are always made, can't go bursting blood vessels over each one.
It's funny really as when Lampard was here everyone was asking where all the Chelsea superstar youngsters were, like Mount and Tomori were never here.
We're not too big for Rotherham players, need to lose that snobbery as he looks a useful player for us that many appear to be warming to now.

He's not doing too bad is he? That goal last night was a bit of alright.
496 minutes played which is the equivalent of 5.5 games worth of football, in that 3 goals and 2 assists.
So a goal every 165 minutes (1.8 games).
Joint 3rd goalscorer, kinda need to see him on the pitch more right? Just need to forget he used to play for Rotherham as that doesn't go down too well with some 😬

Must confess I did enjoy watching that. Clearly the opposition were very limited but that's not Derby's fault.
What struck me tonight was how comfortable we looked with the ball - pop passes, plenty of movement & patience when in possession. That mentality gave us control of the game very quickly & thereafter they couldn't stop us slicing through them. We have the players to play this way regularly & I want us to have the same principles away from PP with oppo midfielders closing down quicker than Northampton's did tonight - not the hot potato rubbish we've seen in recent weeks.
Shout out to Conor Washington who I thought was very good with his movement, touch & work rate - great finish too. A deserved MOM for Max Bird though who looked like a mini Frank Lampard that first half in particular. Two immaculate finishes & maybe the start of a breakout season for him in terms of goalscoring.
Pleased also for Dajaune Brown getting his first minutes of first team action & hopefully his debut sees him kick on to be a regular first team squad member.

Yes, but can't you see that it's the system that leads to this sort of ownership. Derby, Reading, Wigan, Sheffield Wednesday - it doesn't really matter which club, the game of football is not sustainable for the majority of clubs in its current form.
We have had a recent administration and a new owner in place for fifteen months and some are already calling for him to spend money the club hasn't got, chasing success. Or sell.

Whilst League 1 revenue is lower, costs are also lower.
Clowes would be losing a lot more money as a mid table and above Championship team.
Probably why recent reports suggesting Warne has his full backing, he's more patient than us to go up.
Not suggesting we stay here, make ourselves comfortable, I hate this league. Just the reality of the current state of football and why it needs to change.
Looking at Ipswich, that has to be the dream scenario, up up and see ya later.
Frustrating thing is, Covid game football it's chance to reset itself, then you have Chelsea go out spending half a billion, Saudi getting involved and the knock on effect has kiboshed any chance of sensible spending.
I feel for the Wednesday fans, they have been through a rough time and hope their club can get through and see better days.

Ah yeah of course, so then everything else is a moot point?
For me this situation is not and never will be as binary as some people are keen to suggest. It is always more complex than simply Warne in or out. Clowes saved the club, is rebuilding the reputation and rebuilding/reinforcing the infrastructure from what I have read, heard and seen. Warne will only ever be here temporarily whether that’s the length of his current contract, an extension beyond that, a resignation before then or a sacking. The work Clowes is doing for the clubs future extends beyond the appointment of Warne for me, even if that proves to be a misstep there’ll still be a club beyond Warne and that matters.

The problem is there is a distinct lack of mature and sensible criticism on here and social media generally as evidenced last night. The forum used to be a haven away from the polarity and divisiveness of twitter where views were exchanged with humour and without malice but no longer. Certain posters are so hell-bent on an outcome, every other opinion is trampled. I am now reluctantly Warne out but that doesnt mean I have stopped supporting the team or the man who reluctantly moved from obscurity in the North Stand so that we have a manager to moan about. What DC did was massive and obviously his management of the club is not immune from criticism or discussion but the disrespect and insulting comments online to him personally are unbelievable.

    Ah well. I'm disappointed.
I was opposed to Warne's appointment in the first place, based on what little I knew about his style of play. I had hoped that I was wrong but, as things stand, it's even worse than I had feared.
But it's David Clowes' perogative. After all, he bought the club, thereby rescuing it.
If we cast our minds back, we faced losing this great club of ours. At that time, we were thinking about phoenix clubs in even lower tiers. Be honest, in those dark days, I think most of us would have jumped at a few years of turgid football in League One.
Well, it looks like that's what "stability" will bring us.
We will lose the promising youngsters, I mean from the academy; Bird, Cashin and Sibley will be gone in the summer if not January.
The football will not be great. Expect a lot of balls down the channels, early crosses and moaning about Collins.
The championship and higher will be a long way off for a few years now. Crowds will dwindle.
But, trying to look on the bright side - we do still have Derby County Football Club. And that is thanks to David Clowes.
    That's all I got.
But I am glad we have DCFC in whatever form. COYR 🐏

    https://clowes.co.uk/2022/07/01/breaking-news-clowes-developments-takeover-derby-county-football-club/
July last year, it was announced that David Clowes had bought Derby County. Saving the club from disappearing into the ever-growing abyss of crushed football clubs.
I cried that day. I didn't think it was bothering me that much. As an adult in his mid-40s, I found myself resenting the amount of money I've "squandered" following Derby County around the country. I can probably count all the enjoyable moments as an adult on my fingers and toes, but there are plenty of bleak and miserable memories, from watching Jim Smith's magic-touch fade, Colin Todd's reputation dwindle, John Gregory's over-confidence implode, Phil Brown trying to reinvent the wheel, Paul Jewell signing everyone he could, to Nigel Clough being too negative to try and win. That's before Uncle Mel came along with his mad rollercoaster.
A few years ago I decided to squander my money on playing Golf badly instead of football, beer, gambling and a curry every Saturday, that made me think I was detached from it all, that I'd cut the ties that only a few years earlier had me desperately scrambling for away tickets for 0-0 draws at places like Preston on a Boxing Day!
I'd consider myself an armchair radio/TV fan nowadays, and my stress level and general health has been much better.
I no longer live in Derby/Derbyshire, which has left me further detached from the club and fellow Rams fans. But from this forum over the last few days, I'm feeling some real rage towards Warne, and maybe even Clowes. It's worse that any time on this forum. Even Pearson had more support!
Am I the only one who, whilst disenchanted with performances, and perhaps football in general, doesn't really feel Warne needs sacking?
Or am I still just glad we have a club to talk about?
I think some of the people so enraged by Warne could do with taking a step back and a deep breath.
AS for Clowes, he jumped into Shark-infested waters to drag us back onto the muddy bank, shame on anyone critical of a man who had no ambition to own DCFC, only duty.
Disgruntled fans could do with finding a way to contribute to the growth of the club, not the demise.

Hi Derby fans, I know you have bigger fish to fry in terms of wanting Warne out, but thought I would provide a little information on the current Northampton side to provide you a little context before tomorrows game.
We are very much a yo-yo side between L1 and L2 and as most expected we are struggling this season. We have not lost any game by more than 1 goal but that is not helping our points tally at all. Injuries have been a massive issue the last 12 months or so, its rare we have had less than 8 out injured. Whilst injuries are part and parcel of the game, when you already have a squad expected to struggle it creates a bit of an impossible task.
We are unlikely to have any of of injured bodies back for Tuesday, which means our best CB and best striker are injured. Considering both boxes is where we need to improve that is not good news!
Our manager Jon Brady has lived in the area for decades since moving across from Australia. Played for lots of clubs in our region and then got the permanent managers job after managing the U18's. He is extremely passionate (maybe too much so as gets booked so often), but he is also passionate about the club and area which really has built a link with the fan base. He has also done a fantastic job so far in my opinion, developing our style away from just pure long ball which we have endured a lot of over the last few decades. We are not total football by any stretch of the imagination but have the ability to retain the ball far better now. That being said he is clearly getting frustrated at the lack of available bodies and the low budget he has to work with in L1. Despite our lowly position he is still pretty much universally backed by the entire fan base.
In terms of danger man you are right to highlight Sam Hoskins. He has gone from a player who was very much a marmite player amongst the fanbase to a club legend. He has always worked extremely hard and has played in every outfield position for us during his time here. The problem was his work rate would often mean that he was seemingly undroppable which meant he was an easy target. However Brady has recognised that he is comfortably our best finisher, meaning he is now less involved in build up play but much more in the final 3rd which has seen his goal tally rocket. He was the first player to score 20 goals for us since the early 90's and is now top 10 all time in appearances and goals.
Two other players that stand out for us (that are currently fit) are defenders Sam Sherring and Marc Leonard. Sherring is a young defender who is comfortable on the ball and is continuting to develop, i have no doubt he will go onto bigger and better things. Leonard is on load for the second season in a row here from Brighton and is arguably the best natural talent I have seen in the CM for us. We have had Matt Grimes and Matt Crooks here in recent years but Leonard just keeps things ticking over effortlessly.
I wonder if we may set up with a back 3/5 (I know not popular here!) Something along the lines of....
                           Burge
               Willis Sherring Monthe
    Odimayo                               Brough
                   Mcwilliams Leonard
    Pinnock                                  Hoskins
                        Simpson

I am going for a narrow 2-1 loss which is very much the story of our season. A point would be massive for us but despite your recent troubles there are still several levels between the sides.
Looking forward to being back at Pride Park and will post my thoughts after the game. Enjoy the game and rest of the season!

I rate David Clowes' ownership abilities as impeccable. If they weren't this forum would no longer be a place for discussion but merely a garden of remembrance for DCFC Limited.
He made a much supported decision to run this club as a sustainable business with a four-year rebuilding plan for the academy and the first team. He decided that based on his previous record in this division, Paul Warne would be the man given the opportunity to return the club to the Championship. He did not hold a gun to Warne's head demanding that immediate promotion was essential to the plan. When we missed out on securing a play-off place in May, David Clowes didn't make a knee-jerk reaction but held firm in the continuation of the project and backed Warne's first opportunity to recruit players of his choice.
In the past three weeks the performances and results have been very disappointing. That can happen and often does even in successful promotion seasons. But the reaction of Paul Warne to the growing fan criticism is a critical concern in the direction the team is currently going. As he says, it's a new experience for him to face criticism from the fans but in his media interviews he simply appears to have no answers as to how to remedy the situation. He seems confused in his leadership and consequently both the players and fans are confused, leaving us rudderless on the field. Facing Northampton and then Crewe is now a much bigger issue than it should ever be for this club.
David Clowes is not just the owner but also an avid lifelong fan and for that he is probably just as confused, worried and disappointed at the moment as many of us. I would imagine that in his day job, there have been several occasions where he has had to revise projects mid-term in the interest of an optimal outcome, which may also have included parting company with employees sooner rather than later. He has kept his thoughts to himself the past month. However, with the current turmoil the time must be near to when he will reveal if he wishes to continue with project as it stands or revise it.

I’ve been a big PW fan. Not going to many games I know leaves me with more patience. But clearly the style has become a huge issue for many, including us in PWs camp.
Names banded about like we have Arab billions. Simply not the case. DC of course will be well aware, but the real world means we can’t pick who we’d want IF he pulls the plug on the current set up. I have absolutely no idea just now who I’d want. Seeing as PW is here and DCFC are my club I want some winning football.

He does however recognise that David Clowes made a football decision with the best of intentions. Hindsight is wonderful as always. I am sure that he is more frustrated than an other supporter (even B4!), but he will surely be trying to achieve the best for the club within the financial constraints that are in place.
