It's half term. Sally Pepper has kids. Sally Pepper and Ed Dawes are a couple. Both are currently off-air. Might they have gone on holiday?
Regardless of that possibility I think that Ed and Chris shouldn't be on air anyway while the investigation runs its course - it's usual practice.
Anyone who heard Chris trying to calm Ramage down earlier that evening when he was ranting about Max Bird (totally without cause, in my opinion) will hopefully know how difficult that task is live on air and take that into account in the investigation.
I think he's a promising journalist and I also think Ed Dawes is a better journalist when he isn't having to contend with Ramage live on air.

Tram Ram you know what else is an age thing - you taped it did you, whenever I say that my Granddaughter says what do you mean taped it? I correct myself to "recorded it"
I tried to explain once but gave up at "you used to put TV programs on a tape !!!???"

I was in love with Harry Gregg in the 50s. He was the first really athletic goalkeeper I had seen. He never stopped moving wherever the ball was on the pitch. We lived nearer to Leicester than Derby so occasionally went to Filbert Street if we didn’t have a home game. As well as cheering the opposition we always stood behind the goal so we could jeer at Gordon Banks who for some reason my dad couldn’t stand!

Sounds like you have been treated reasonably fairly then for the accepted social norms at the time.
Might be a different story for the boy who was repeatedly sodomised by the randy PE teacher, or the scared girl who was constantly groped by those cheeky boys much older than her, or the black kid who was constantly stopped and search by the friendly racist local bobby who turned a blind eye when some local lads kicked the kids head in for dating a white girl, or the gay lad who was forced to live through years of taunting and abuse for being different until he tried to kill himself.
This sort of stuff used to happen back in the glory days of which you speak. Clearly you and many other people would not condone this sort of behaviour but it all happened and no one did much about it.
If a slight downside to trying to prevent this sort of thing means a few people feel they can't be quite as open in how they speak to others, or occasionally their language is judged in harsher terms than they might have meant, then this is surely a price worth paying.

Being nearly 80, I was brought up in a society where many of these words were acceptable although now we realise they are racist. Over the years we have become more enlightened and understand how hurtful and damaging racist language can be. I still am aware that sometimes I have to think about the words I use - it’s quite difficult to erase language learnt in childhood.
However, without knowing what age he is, I would assume that Craig Ramage grew up in a time when our use of language was already being questioned. Although he winds himself up til he says the first thing that enters his head, it might have been hoped that he’d thought about and tried to retrain his automatic verbal memory if that’s what appeared to have happened.

I think it’s important to put some perspective on this.
I am a black man in my 40’s growing up in the 70’s suffering horrendous, unimaginable racist abuse, not only from people in my majorly white British community but also from parents and school teachers.
Whilst what he has said cannot be condoned, it’s a racist comment by definition of the very words he chooses to use. If he says the two full backs or just the young lads etc then it’s just a comment that everyone can debate and either agree or disagree.
Is he a racist ?, no not for a minute do I believe that at all, I have lived through racism, it’s defined me as a person through no fault of my own.  I never asked to be abused, never asked to be singled out when walking into a room where only I looked different from anybody else.
He’s made a mistake, he has received his punishment for what is a lack of judgement and poor use of words. Racists hate, they cannot praise, they cannot admire and most importantly they cannot hide it, if he was this way we would have seen this way before now.
When John Terry behaved the way he did with Anton Ferdinand lots of people who knew him all said football knows what Terry is, this will not happen here because Ramage isn’t that person.

Because of my colour my opinion matters no more than anyone else’s no matter what colour you are but please let’s not crucify the man for just poor use of words.

The trouble for Ramage is that it only takes one comment of that nature to tar someone’s character indefinitely.
Let him take the punishment - losing his job and being able to do what he enjoys - and let’s move on. As a club, we have had enough controversy and drama for one season.
Respect to Bogle and Lowe for handling the situation with class and dignity. I just hope they can now be left to get on with their careers.
I am sure if Ramage is as decent a man as many suggest, he will take the necessary steps to make amends and perhaps educate himself.
When people have such views, it’s not a time for outrage, but a time for understanding, guidance and learning.
You have to open people’s eyes or they’ll remain blind to the challenges faced.

No such thing as a neutral on here buddy.  We are all as one. You are as much a member of this family as the rest of us, and your attendance on here is no less warmly received.
Red, white, black... or even that disgusting shade of grey that Fergie kicked off about at Southampton, when they changed their shirts at half time... The colour of our shirts matters not.  Just the heart that lingers below it, and the hand that extends to friendship.

it all just goes to show we still have a way to go until Racism is eradicated from not only football but society as a whole.
The good news is I guess 90% of all posts support Lowe and condemn Rammage. If I was to try and put a positive spin on things, 20 Years ago it would have been a lot less and in the not so distant past it would have simply been considered acceptable to generalise like that. One day perhaps we'll get to the point where 0% of people think it's ok to generalise.

If you looked at Max Bird last season you would've thought he'll never make it. I was confused as to why Lampard kept picking him, especially after watching us against Villa away. This season though he's been one of the most consistent performers since Christmas, he's been incredible. Morgan Whittaker reminds me of Max Bird last season. But there must be a reason he keeps getting into the team, if you watch any of the youth games he's a level above.
Bogle and Bird are both the same age (19) but if Bird has a bad game the excuse is 'oh he's still finding his feet' but if Bogle has a bad game there's so much more of a negative reaction. Same with Bielik at the start of the season, him and Lowe are both still 22, but there's so much weight on their shoulders if they have a poor game. People forget how young this team is, they're not gonna be a 8/10 every game, if they were they wouldn't be in the championship. Just think of the players they will become in 5 or so years when they're in their prime...
