Wonder-save this week had more to do with a dreadful finish by their sub striker (who then made amends, unfortunately). 24Nyambe - 6 - did as well as one could reasonably expect... playing left wing-back, i.e. on his weaker side, and not known for his attacking... and being fed the ball on the left in potentially attacking situations. Not his fault. 16Ward - 5.5 - good to see him back but no miracles bestowed on him. 35Nelson - 6 - found himself in positions he shouldn't be in, requiring more offensive ability than he has. If it has to be a back 3, he should be in the middle of it. 6Cashin - 5.5 - dozy first half and average at best in the second. Didn't improve in a back 3. 3Forsyth - 5.5 - clumsy tackle for the booking. Not at his best. 5Bradley - 6 - didn't do much wrong, although collective share of culpability for 3rd goal. 8Bird - 6 - tried hard to make things happen and showed the quick movement needed to have a chance against the Stevenage terriers (including his dummy for the goal), but things came off less and less as the match went on. By the end looked ineffective. 4Hourihane - 5.5 - just not enough physicality and other aspects weren't strong enough yesterday to make up for that. 2Wilson - 5 - totally ineffective 9Collins - 5 - one weak shot on goal but otherwise contributed nothing 17Sibley - 5 - poor game other than the sort-of-assist (which was really made by Bird's dummy). Had moments of remembering he was meant to be "pressing". Should have been booked in the first 3 minutes for a rubbish tackle. Has not taken his chance but possibly because he's confused as everyone else with what he's meant to be doing. 12Smith - 5 - couldn't and didn't improve things. 11Méndez-Laing - 6 - includes a 0.5 for the goal. Otherwise not effective enough and made some poor decisions. 14Washington - 5 (originally 6) - decent effort. Still no idea what happened with the claimed penalty, but if he genuinely wasn't touched then I should probably take off at least 0.5 for the length of time he spent fussing about it. EDIT: just watched it back. Took the ball cleanly. Pathetic behaviour, sitting on the floor for ages begging for a penalty he didn't deserve! Mark reduced to 5. 7Barkhuizen - 5 - might as well have kept that bench warm as he offered absolutely nothing - so a like-for-like with Wilson Sorry for the downbeat tone.
