They are all good players that can progress but Warne needs to use midfield more not tell them to hoof it past them at every opportunity

IslandExile reacted to Day in DCFC Quiz Night @ Pride Park in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association
Event organiser Peter Mills is an East Stand season ticket holder and secretary of MNDA (Gloucestershire) branch. He is still close friends with his former John Port School mate Martin Kelly who was first diagnosed with MND in 2017. This cruel and debilitating terminal illness currently has no treatment or cure. However, the search for a cure has accelerated thanks to recent high-profile fundraising efforts from leading sportsmen such as Kevin Sinfield, Rob Burrow and Doddie Weir who once said “MND is not incurable, just underfunded”.
Having observed at close hand the devastating progress of the disease; Peter says “My old schoolmate Martin was diagnosed with MND at age 59. It’s heart-breaking to see but he battles on with dignity and good humour. Everyone attending the Rams quiz night will be raising funds to support people living with this dreadful illness and the search for better treatment and a cure." The evening will honour all Rams fans past and present with MND.
Update 30/04/2023:
We are anticipating having a table of ex-players taking part. Roger Davies (who will be asking some of the questions) and Steve Powell are already confirmed.
In response to feedback, in addition to being able to enrol a team for £30, we are now offering individual places @£8 per head. Just sign up and we will make up teams from the applications.
To sign up email peter.millsdcfc@gmail.com
Please help to promote the event by retweeting the pinned tweet @millsdcfc
Thanks everyone

European Cup Semi Final 1st leg – Wednesday 11th April 1973 & the away leg with Juventus at the Stadio Comunale in Turin
Whilst Derby had avoided reigning Champions Ajax & perennial Champions Real Madrid in the draw, the task of facing Juventus was hardly a straightforward one. By 1973, Juventus had been Italian Champions 14 times & were in the midst of winning number 15. Their squad also contained many familiar names - Dino Zoff was in goal, prolific striker Jose Altafini (who managed to play for both Italy & Brazil) was up front and the team even featured a young Fabio Capello.
Pre-match Brian Clough interview with some horrible prescient comments about refereeing of the upcoming game in Turin;
Despite Kevin Hector’s equaliser on the half hour giving Derby a precious away goal, Juventus scored twice in the second half to secure a 3-1 win. This though was only part of the story given the now infamous scenes outside the referee’s room at half-time & the highly suspicious bookings of Gemmill & McFarland, meaning they would miss the second leg
Footage of the goals from Stadio Comunale;
Daily Mirror match report;
Programme from Turin;
In the other semi-final, Ajax took a two goal lead into the last 10 minutes but Pirri struck with 5 mins remaining to give Real Madrid a priceless away goal for the second leg at the Bernabeu;

IslandExile reacted to Comrade 86 in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
Won't be a popular school of thought, but next season is the season where we need to get promoted. Happy-clapper I may well be, but if we went up this season with the current restrictions in place, I fear we'd be hideously outgunned. Of course, this season is not over yet, not by a long shot, but I'd not be too upset were we to miss out this year, re-group, plug a few gaps and then hit the Championship the following year with no finance-related monkeys on our back; free of soft or hard embargos, free of debt, free of wage cap, free of EFL business plan... These are surely the sunlit uplands for most Derby fans and the more I think of it, the more I feel that this is probably what Mr Clowes has envisaged as the most achievable and arguably the most optimal route forward.
For balance, I made it clear from the outset that I had reservations about PW's credentials and how effective his style would be outside of L1, but the good run of form he and the team produced mostly quelled those fears, that is until we came of the rails. As someone who always wants to see managers given time to build a team (something they've not had at Derby for a decade), he remains just about in the black. That said, the argument that Warne has been found out against more canny managers holds water and our record against the better L1 clubs is frankly appalling. At the outset, us doubters were informed that Warne had more than one style and could adapt to our current roster, but that has not proven to be the case, so doubts linger about both his tactical nous, and the suitability of the type of players he might recruit trying to implement it. Put simply, will he recruit a top L1 team for a campaign in the Championship. Equally, will pump it down the channels to the quick lads be an effective strategy in the Championship? I think we need to finish the season as strongly as we can and take stock. There's some big decisions ahead, whatever the outcome and the fairest and most accurate assessment of Warne will be when he has a deeper squad with a full -pre-season in their legs.
A last thought, would be that those sticking small knives into David Clowes really, really need to STFU. Without him there'd be no Derby County. The same people repeatedly tell other folk we need to 'move on' and forget what happened, but they are simply trying to scrub history so they can whine about anything and everything with impunity. While for me, Warne's 'credit' is under review, Mr Clowes retains a 'AAA' rating. I find the lack of appreciation and loyalty in some quarters really depressing, not to mention a bit distasteful.

Our three jewels were all better playera during Phillip Cocu’s first season in charge.
They haven’t kicked on at all.
Put it down to managerial changes, the club situation, relegation…
But those three were tipped to become £10million+ PL regulars.
Now they don’t even stand out in League One.
I hope for their sake they move on and fulfill their potential elsewhere because I just can’t see it happening at Derby.

We can moan about decisions all we want but the simple fact is this game should have been put to bed in the first half. Nobody to blame for that but ourselves.
