I've had enough. Warne out.
Oh wait. That's not what you meant, eh.
Sorry, as you were.

I reckon the people that are criticising posters for criticising performances are equally annoyed at being criticised for criticising posters for criticising performances.

IslandExile reacted to Bald Eagle's Barmy Army in Academy thread 23/24
They decided to leave in May this year - this isn't a new revelation. The decision was made before the new academy manager came in.
A lot of talk around the academy is "would Omari be anywhere near the first team at Derby if he'd have stayed'? The answer has to be no and he certainly wouldn't be getting the opportunities like he is now.

IslandExile reacted to Caerphilly Ram in Our best eleven - when all fit
Thought I’d bump this topic and see what people’s thoughts are on this at the moment? Ideally without it turning into “well Warne won’t do this” or “so and so is useless”. More a general chat about the players in the squad and what the best combination of them is.
What do you think our best side is? Given he’s the best finisher at the club how would you fit Sibley into the side? Do you break up the Fornah and Korey De Bruyne partnership to play Bird deeper and Sibley in the 10? Does Ward start ahead of NML? Etc.
I think I’d go;
Wildsmith
Nyambe Nelson Cashin Forsyth
Bird Fornah
Ward Sibley Barkhuizen
Waghorn
Subs; Vickers, Bradley, Wilson, Hourihane, Smith, Collins, NML

I'm slightly disappointed the range doesn't include a homage to our last promotion winning manager, tbh.
Billy's Bitter is a perfect beer mat.

IslandExile got a reaction from Miggins in We are all Derby
You make some very good points in your post but I have to pick up on one thing....
Some of us who are dissatisfied with Warne are not basing it on 4 or 5 games, the performances or results, or judging it on the new players that he's brought in and who are still settling in and/or overcoming injuries, or even the efforts of the players.
No, we are basing it on the impressions we have formed of his tactical approach over the year that he's been in charge.
Warne has been here for over a year. He hasn't merely presided over 4 or 5 games.
He has had time to lay the foundations for how the team should play and how the club should be run.
Yet, it seems, he's been forced to change formation from 352 to 4231 by injuries and Bradley's poor form.
He places too much emphasis on scoring goals from set pieces rather than enterprising football.
He rarely gets team selection or substitutions right in my view - Blackpool was an obvious exception.
For someone who claims to live and breathe football, it's surprising that the reports are that he hasn't been to a single academy game - and doesn't even know the names of some of their star performers. That's hardly providing an incentive to the kids.
If, as we're told, Warne was brought in to establish a tone for the club as a whole, he shouldn't be merely focused on the first team. The club have - rightly in my view - had an emphasis on having a Grade 1 academy. The impression is that Warne does not share that same interest.
So, you see, those of us who do not think Warne is a good fit for Derby County are basing it on far more than a handful of poor results at home.
We are concerned about the overall direction of the club, team tactics and the development of young players.

The question ought to be:
"Warne what would it take for you to honourably resign?"

IslandExile got a reaction from Miggins in We are all Derby
I've seen a few comments on the matchday thread along the lines of "the 'haters' will be really unhappy that we won tonight".
What nonsense.
I don't hate anyone. Football - as with all sports - is a game of opinions. Just because I may have a different opinion about Warne's tactics than somebody else, does not mean that I "hate" him.
I actually quite like Paul Warne, the person. Unlike some, I even like his interviews. But, no, I do not like his tactical approach. But if he is successful at Derby then, of course, I will be delighted because it means that Derby are successful.
And we all want that.
Regardless of tactics, team selections, signings and substitutions. We are all Derby.
So let's all enjoy the wins - together.
Please let's understand differences of opinion are fine, healthy, a good thing - they are not signs of "hate".
Thank you. COYR 🐏

IslandExile reacted to CBRammette in Warne: what would it take?
The Sibley position. PW's had long enough to work out how to get the best out of him and many others. Today made me think he's def not going to. Also Tommo came in because he had to. Now would like him gone before we lose the last few youngsters if not already too late.

IslandExile got a reaction from Carl Sagan in Would you cash out now
Given that we are not far behind the play off places despite the current poor form at home, given the quality of the squad, given that players are starting to return from injury, given the poor standard of other teams in the division, then I would hope the minimum would be a play off position.
That's even from now. At the start of the season, I thought we'd be certainties for the automatics. Less sure now, but it's still very possible. Depends on January and further injuries. Keep going.
