Do you ever look at team lineups we had in the early 80s and wince at how bad we were.
And then realize we’re as bad now?
This didn't age well.
Hurrah!

I would snog Ryan Allsop.

If we hold on the Lawrence debate is going to go mental.

Rooney's Babes will storm the 1st division.

The biggest complaint under Cocu and the early days of Rooney was the teams apparent lack of effort.
Well, WR has certainly turned that around in spades, this team is working really hard for each other.

Drag them all onto the next plane home and end this holiday in the sun.
Half of the players look terrified when facing the bowlers, spinners included, and seem to be relieved when they get out and can put their feet up.
We have been appalling, but nothing I have heard or read suggests the players see this is a holiday.
It could just be we're nothing like good enough.

Word War II in colour.
My knowledge of 20th Century history is pretty poor prior to Thatcher becoming PM, so I thought I'd check this out.
I expected to maybe last half an episode but I was utterly hooked and have a much better understanding of how the disparate elements of the war fit into place.
Using actual footage that has been colourised and interweaving it with expert commentary and other footage that I presume has been taken from movies and/or films specifically, it really is riveting.
I've watched the first 5 and I'm left with the overwhelming feeling that we were really, really lucky.
A lot of that luck was the multiple times Hitler hesitated from Dunkirk, to the Eastern Front against the Russians, to giving the go ahead to build more U-Boats rather than war ships, his indecision saved us.
Some interesting facts that I didn't know.
The noise the Stuka dive bombers made was artificially generated to make them sound more scary. They were kinda scary anyway.
The Americans biggest losses after Pearl Harbor came when they were attacked by the French in North Africa because the French were still pissed at Churchill for attacking their navy.
The battle of the Atlantic kicked off after a German U-Boat sunk the civilian SS Athenia by mistake.
Montgomery's hesitation almost meant a loss in North Africa, but Patton kinds bailed him out.
Half the Nazi high command were raving narcissists.
Ok, maybe the last one was kinda obvious.

Seeing as everybody else was watching Dr Doolittle on Christmas Day I decided to finally check out The Platform.
Very dark and superbly well acted. A fairly obvious allegory/condemnation on modern society, but still well done.
I'm not sure I'd say I liked it because films like this I tend to appreciate more than like per se, but I thought it was very well done and worth checking out even if it never quite fulfilled its potential.

Recent - 'Back' is decent, 'Fleabag' was good too.
Fairly recent - Inbetweeners and League of Gentlemen.
Oldies/nostalgic - 'Allo Allo and Home to Roost
Classics - Frasier and Steptoe
So bad they are good - On The Buses and Some Mothers Do Ave Em.
Inbetweeners is one of my all time favs, just everything about it was perfect.
I totally loved 'Allo 'Allo at the time and even went to see the live stage show somewhere in London, but now I cringe with embarrassment at it. Some comedies just don't age well.
Loved On the Buses just for Blakey and of course Steptoe was way ahead of its time.

They might get him by giving us a first and a third.
He's Mr Average, I'd be stunned if an organization like the Steelers would give that for a player of his age and ability.
having said that I've no clue what the draft is looking like for QBs and there'll be nothing much elsewhere.

Can't wait to see the back of this year. Will say now I'm ok, but it's been a challenging year, starting out with Derby going into admin.
Broken foot makes you realise how much you need both your feet
Next up both sisters and partners testing positive for Covid, little sister has been hit pretty hard.
Out of isolation period but still having breathing issues.
Next up Mum has also tested positive, home alone for Christmas, not a lot I can do other than FaceTime. Luckily she's not been hit hard by it, first couple of days were rough but quickly recovered.
Was due down for the first family Christmas my side for years, that was cancelled with my mum still isolating until next weekend.
Now the hammer blow, Leanne's sister in law found out this week she has 5 months to live, been having tests for pains, was suspected kidney stones, came back she has kidney cancer which has spread to her lungs.
Tomorrow is now billed as the "last time Christmas" for her whilst her other brother was sectioned again at the weekend. Believes Adele is in there with him.
Football has become secondary at the minute, but not lost on me that the clubs future is in serious doubt.
Roll on 2022
Jeez, and I was just whining because it's raining and I have to take the dogs out.
Very sorry to hear all that, I hope things pick up in massively in 2022.
FWIW, I have heard countless stories from the wife about patients being put on palliative care and being give this or that amount of time and totally blowing through it by many months and sometimes years.
