Bird still a target for Rosenior/Hull

Well quite, but let's call a spade a spade. Our last promotion was similar in truth.
Agreed, but the issue with the last promotion was not the actual promotion but what was done with the team once they got there.
If we played like this week in week out in the championship I’d be a little more worried but horses for courses and all that

Our results are stupendous. Our form has been patchy, but was good today (for about 75mins).
Quite frankly, if we win 90% of our games with a scrappy goal off Collins arse or NML shin then defend for 90 minutes I’ll still be happy. We are not in the league to enjoy it, the club have one aim this year and that’s to get out this league.

Because he had to accept a 6 month contract. If he had proper contract offers he wouldn't have found himself in that situation.
Fairly certain it was the other way around, didn’t warn say he had been after him for a while but there were clubs in higher leagues interested in him? 6 months was probably a mutual call for both club and player to assess their options come January.

Keep Nelson, Wilson and NML fit and in the team as much as possible. Those three are dragging this team out from mediocrity most games.

Has no one said it yet? Okay then...
Tell them £25m with 20% add on.

Our metric of ‘successful’ is completely wrong imo. Most of us would have either been much younger (or not even born at all) the last time you could say we were successful.
If we go up as champions or from sneaking into the play offs and poo-housing the playoffs then it will have the same result for us. We can worry about getting promoted from the championship if/when we get there

I thought albeit briefly but embleton gave us a little more energy and movement higher up the pitch… but then obviously got crocked
warne will know what we need , its just a case of can we get it
He doesn’t just know what we need, he’s told us.
Defence is fine (despite what some would say) and our defensive record speaks for itself.
Midfield we either need a nasty sod who would do the dirty work to free up Bird/Fornah or a pacey creative player in a young Hourihane mould.
And a pacey striker, literally just pace and a pair of strikers boots will do.

Could’ve really done with CM9 up front today 👀

A few changes to formation and personnel and it seems to have clicked now.
Bird and Barks coming back to full fitness has made a difference and noticeably we have been much stronger in second halves now that we have a stronger bench. Jury is still out on Warne until we can show some consistency but it’s definitely an improvement.

Would really like to see him on the bench today, but it won’t happen. Maybe later in the season?
With Brown playing in the U-18s Cup and Waghorn presumably not yet fit I suspect he will be on the bench today. A well earned place in the squad too if he is.

Brown and Collins, who plays where?
Knowing Warne, Collins will play lone striker and Brown will play left CB 👀
-
Rated him when he was at the club, but his general conduct since leaving plus all the dodgy claims about his agent lending money to Kirchner just makes me think he’s going to be drama wherever he goes.

5 at the back. Against Blackpool we were 5 at the back but Wilson played almost a false 2 position.
Nyambe is doing the job that we expected Nelson to do in that he covers the area both a RCB and RB would cover in a game giving Wilson licence to run the wing.
When under pressure Wilson drops back to cover the wing and Nyambe tucks into the box with Nelson and Cash. Cash is a more traditional CB and therefore we need an out and out defender at the LB/LWB spot.
-
Weirdly Nyambe has proven to be the last piece of the puzzle and it seems to have clicked as a result (bet no one thought that would be said prior to the summer).
Not saying Warne is a genius, or even that he’s successful yet but he did say that there was a championship player we were after that we were chasing. The signings are looking good value (Waggy scoring goals, Nelson a defensive rock, Fornah giving us something different in midfield etc).
It’s a funny old game and if we can get a run of 10+ games unbeaten that will probably set us up for a real run at automatics. If we can’t keep it consistent then it’s a marathon for the play offs.

Collins will get 20 this year, PW will become a fan favourite again and Rams will be championship next season. Bookmark it.
You okay over there @YouRams? It seems a little early in the week to be on the strong liquor?
No, in all seriousness I think the only one of those that will happen will be promotion this year. Warne is too much marmite for our fan base and not convinced Collins will hit 20 (more like mid teens along with Waggy and potentially Barks if he stays fit)

The phrase do anything to get out of this league may apply in a one off game, but it’s foolish to say in September.
Play crap football in this league (even if it results in promotion) will almost certainly result in relegation from the Championship.
There is a reason why Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham look so awful up there.
You’re conveniently leaving out Ipswich right now, and Sunderland from the season before. Both of which didn’t play attractive football but are excelling in the championship right now
-
Ugly football, not good by any definition but got the job done. Happy with 3 points, doesn’t matter how we got them
-
Not saying Warne has proven anyone wrong yet, but the difference last night were the players coming back from injury or building up to full fitness.
PW has been dangerously stubborn with his love of 5 at the back this season but it seems the players available to him have forced his hand somewhat to a change of system.
Would we have had a stronger start to the season if we had Fornah, Sibley, Wilson, Elder, Embleton and Barks all fit and ready to go? Potentially so.
PW doesn’t have any excuses now, he has a strong squad to pick from with options in pretty much every position with more players to come back to fitness over the next month. Horses for courses and all that, there is no course where 5 at the back works with our group of players.
-
Ward and Wilson when fit should be our new Brayford/Coutts combination. Both are comfortable at right back but can overlap each other in attack.

Think that ship has already left the port. Their recent form means they are relying on teams around them to drop points in order to stay top
