Big season for him this year, probably the player with most ‘potential’ to be shaped into a Warne type player with players like Bird and Sibley already having their style of football clear.
If Warne can shape him into a box to box style midfielder rather than a defensive midfielder he could probably do a similar job to Knight.

More like...
GK: Wildsmith, Vickers, Loach
CB: Bradley?, Nelson, Cashin, Forsyth, Rooney
WB: Ward, Elder, Youth Loan?
CM: Bird, Hourihane, Knight/Loan? Smith, Tommo, DRobinson
SS: May?, Sibley, Mendez-Laing, Barkhuizen
CF: Washington?, Clarke-Harris?, CollinsYou could make strong arguments for not needing to sign another player to replace Knight.
Feel like that would be a perfect summer. Bird and Smith for one midfield spot. Hourihane, Sibley and a loan player for the second spot.

Expect a tweet from the club today something along the lines of ‘Gaffer wanted 5 signings by pre-season, Gaffers got 5 signings’ with a bunch of emojis and Washington getting announced.
-
Pretty sure Darren Bent was on an eye watering amount of money too

Part of any deal for Jason Knight?
-
Fozzy club captain being the longest serving and most experienced player.
When fit, Bird should be playing every game so expect him to be captain.

Not too concerned with prior record, before Derby McGoldrick only really had one good goal scoring season.
previous records doesn’t guarantee anything, everyone expected Collins to boss the league but it didn’t work out that way.

Honestly don’t see where Knight would fit into this team if he stayed. The wingbacks we’ve signed are clearly coming in to play most if not all games.
Midfield is stacked with Bird, Hourihane, Smith, Sibley if no one else comes in or none of the academy lads step up.
Could he be any good as a wide forward/winger over NML? He’s not really got the finishing to play forward.
Honestly in this league 2-3 million would rebuild our front line with some quality long term strikers. It’s a bit of a no brainer.

Another player who’s relatively tall for full back, first real signs of the impending Warneball?

Predictions for next transfers guys.
tomorrow - double CB signing Flint or Bradley or Harding
friday - SK signing Alfie May fee
knight sold
to be the five in before Pre season
then LB, another striker , midfielder signing during opening week of pre season
extra FW and versatile player for CM/CB - both loans from premier league or championship.
max fee spend I reckon £750,000 - £1m but money received in transfer fees
Think we will see more ins than that if Warne can help it.
Knight and Bielik to be sold.
Two strikers in, Two CBs, a LB who can cover CB, two wide players then probably another attacking midfielder.
Expect we will pay a decent fee for a striker and potentially a decent fee for a winger/wide attacker

Fair signing, experienced and a good age. Filled a gap and doubt he’s on daft money

Could just be an odd glove design but it’s the only AB keeper I can think of…
Tattoo on left wrist though? Begovic doesn’t have this but Vickers doesn’t either?

We currently only have 7 players registered in the under 21 squad.
Assume that’s why we’ve brought in a new academy manager, given the free rein to completely refresh the academy.
There are always going to be players who are on the cusp between the first team and youth team in the same way Rooney was last season.

This point is a real concern. Our squad was too small last season and he seems to want it to be smaller.
20 players is nowhere near enough depth
Not sure I agree, we are used to having a big squad with a lot of older legs that would struggle to play the full season.
For arguments sake let’s say we had a squad for 442:
GK x 2
CB x 4
RB/LB x 2 with cover players from midfield.
CM x 4 (at least one of which can cover full back)
Wingers x 4 (at least one of which can play centrally as additional rotation forward)
Strikers x 3
Thats a squad of 19 senior players. Another 5 players who are on the cusp from academy and that seems plenty, with relevant reinforcements in January

Unfortunately something we have to accept that whilst we might have the history and size as a football club, we are ultimately up against clubs in a higher league than us.
If this was a choice between a premier league club and championship club we wouldn’t begrudge him going for the higher league. Same applies to Championship and League One.

SuperDerbySuperRams was the one. He used to get pretty much everything right. Until he was convinced we were signing Callum O'Dowda and he ended up at Bristol City.
To be fair to him, I think the deal was lined up and we were waiting to sell Hendrick and O'Dowda lost patience.
Not claiming to be an ITK at all, but this one I was ITK on.
Everything was ready for him to sign, he already had property in the area and was all but done. like a lot of signings, there just wasn’t enough to get the deal over the line in time and someone came in for him.
Think he still owns some property in the area following this

Think TFR were actually pretty good before weren’t they? Didn’t they break the news for the goalkeeper from FGR?
-
Think the reason that NML is having such an effective season is because he doesn’t have to worry about tracking back to RB with Smith there.
If we still had Bryne there then there’s no way that NML would have the freedom he normally gets up the wing. Let our defenders defend and attackers attack.

Listening to his post match today, don’t think I’ve enjoyed listening to a manager as much as PW.
For a guy who wasn’t particularly smart footballer (rather the hard working grafter), he has an intelligence you don’t see in many managers

Could see us going 3/5 at the back with Cashin coming in. Davies doesn’t deserved to be dropped but we can’t keep Cashin on the bench.

Smith didn’t really play in midfield last season until the later side of the season, plus White was brought in to cover Bird. Once Bird was fit White barely got any game time.
That plus we will likely play 3/5 at the back most games so we will only need two starting midfielders.
Warne’s comments suggest we would only sign if Knight/Bird leaves and that pretty much makes sense with 4 first team midfielders with another two reserve/youth
