At what point is it too much in terms of signings?
Clearly need two full backs and a back up keeper but beyond that we seem pretty stacked across the team.
-
Top 6 to be realistic. There are some strong teams and some teams with momentum. We're not used to this league so I'd expect the first 6 months to be about adapting.
-
Think we're probably 5 signings away from being a promotion team:
LB-most likely Fozzy with Roberts rotation/cover
RB - wouldn't mind getting someone like Christie or Brayford back, both experienced and would allow for rotation with the new signing.
CM- assuming Bielik doesn't play for us this year then we 100% need another midfielder. Probably could do with an enforcer with a bit of experience. Stephens/Mcdonald or even Johnson could probably do well.
GK: not a clue, probably a keeper who knows the lower leagues and would be happy to be a cup keeper and to challenge.
Another winger/wide attacker: most likely a loan from a prem side, not going to expect to start every game but will give options. That plus Glover would top up the squad and give the u23s some depth.

Fair signing, nothing flashing and gives us some league experience. Imagine the young keeper is going to 2nd keeper.

Just signing the entire Republic of Ireland team at this point really aren't we?

Don't need a player like him, promotion won't be decided on skill with this kind of league, it's decided on a team who gels well and plays together well.

Cover for the whole of the back four. Not a bad move

I still think I'd rather have Cashin and Davies as our CBs (assuming we're playing a back 4). It'd be a real shame if players like Cashin and Thompson dropped to not getting much of a look in
Thing is we're not just having a squad to stay up next year, they're looking to challenge for promotion.
One injury to Cashin and Davies and we'd be done for, especially as there's no real youth CBs otherwise available.
It's going to be a busy season with the various cups plus the league will be far more physical. Having two players to every position is an absolute must IMO.

He has a great record in league 1 , looks like we are getting mcgoldrick instead though
Right now we have Stretton as our only striker going into the season. League One needs so big and strong players so wouldn't be surprised to see CKR, Collins, McGoldrick and Stretton as our strikers this year.

Who's actually coordinating all these signings is it Rosenoir or someone else at the club?
Am asking as Rosenoir is only on here on an interim basis in the short term and if things don't work out and they're all "his" signings then another manager comes in and wants to start from scratch again, rinse and repeat.
Hopefully isn't a scattergun approach "just" to get numbers in though numbers is what were short of.
Mendez-Laing and McGoldrick are both previous targets, as is Chester.
Barz we've been linked with since before even the season end.
Only leaves the GK which we didn't need until last week came around. Rooney and Rosenior likely made their targets long before Rooney left so its likely a follow through of any original plan.

However, the only thing that worries me, is they're only for 2 years. Suspect this may be down to the EFL restrictions, because I can imagine the club will have been wanting to put 4 years on both Cashin and Thompson.
Business plan is in place for two years following the exit of admin, which includes caps on wages. At the end of the two years I would imagine that the cap ends so players won't want to sign for longer when they can get a pay rise at the end of two years.

From knowledge, Clowes and Appleby have some very close links in a number of communities in Derby.
Very much expect him to be named preferred bidder with a joint bid with Appleby to be the final outcome. Clowes is business smart, Appleby is sport smart.

Scenario: Kirchner pulls his bid, no other bids were close to the valuation asked by the administrators.
Counter scenario: the bidders and the admins are holding announcing who they are until a preferred bidder is selected.
I would imagine the vast majority of those involved would prefer to negotiate quietly and make an announcement once the real details are resolved.
Kirchner broke the norm by coming out with his bid, but the reality is he was no closer to owning the club than any of us. Then he throws his toys out the pram when he didn't get it all his way.
The analogy on here seems to compare the deal to buying a house. A house purchase can easily take 9 months if complex but people expect a multi-company insolvency transaction with non-valued assets to be done in less than 3 months?
-
Kirchner will likely have the least liquid funds, least footballing links and least knowledge of the current bidders from the information we have so far.
It's likely he realises this and wants to hammer a deal through before the other parties step up their interest (if at all). If you get the likes of Appleby/Rush/Moxey etc getting serious their links to existing footballing infrastructure will be more valuable than any money can add.

Billionaire owner is only really a big thing in the prem and they have much more freedom to spend their money.
Can't think of the last championship club to get a billionaire owner and storm the league.

Even I must admit that I am starting to feel sorry for Rooney.
When the points deductions are finalised, he will be left to do a job that is way beyond his current skillset and level of experience, and he has seemingly been left in the dark and the cold by the very people who brought him to the club.
Let’s see what he can produce moving forward and let’s see where he is 12 months from now. I don’t see that he has done anything out of the ordinary so far.
Staying at the club, and contributing to the costs of away travel and such things will surely reflect well on him and of course build goodwill.
However, let’s not forget - he probably will have been consulted by his agent or PR team on the best steps to take.
Not sure you could find anyone with the 'skillset' and 'experience' that could potentially face the club.
Worst case scenario we could be facing the highest points deduction the league has ever dished out.
-
Really had a dislike of Rooney as a player.
Had even more of a dislike of Rooney as a man.
Whatever the outcome now he leaves the club a legend though.
-
9s across the board, started at 7, up to 10s for the effort from them and dropped to a 9 for making the second half difficult to watch.
-
MSD take control, likely lease it back to the club (or phoenix club should it come to it). 10-15 years time under a stable ownership they buy the stadium back again.
-
Most likely Rosenior takes over I'd imagine.

Would be the best player in the league and has plenty of experience playing at European level. Really can't see it happening.
