Billy wants back in too 👀
-
Nelson will go RB next game, Bradley and Cashin will look solid.
Quote me, @ me, laugh at me but I don’t buy that he’s just not up for it. When we don’t have any choice about playing him they will get him integrated into this team.

Squad is looking a good size these days, maybe lacking in quality but feel that to bring anymore in will require others to go out.
Is there a loan window anymore?
Heard Barks is of interest to Burton.
Sibley and Bird won’t be fit for a while. Think two more signings would put us in the right place without anymore leaving.

Genuine question-has the DET broke a single transfer story this summer that wasn’t already picked up by other outlets/Big Trav?

Reading want to move Andy Carroll on and off thier wage bill. I still think we absolutely need someone to win headers up front and give us that kind of big option with 30 mins left in every game this season.
His wage will be more than our entire front line combined. No way we would sign someone like that, especially not an aging, injury prone player

Weird one for the Forest connection, they have a vested interest in him doing well for us to get a profit on him in the future

Wildsmith
Rooney, Nelson,Bradley, Elder
Hourihane, Thompson, Smith
NML, Collins, Waghorn
4 across the back when attacking, Smith covers across the RWB when defending.

Started today for Sheffield United, general consensus is Sheffield Utd have been stripped bare of their decent players this summer
-
Derby fans are a fickle bunch (and I don’t think that could be considered too controversial).
No point talking up a big season if they don’t perform. Fans will soon turn for it.
Good thing is the fans are also easy enough to get back on board. A strong performance and a decent win would go a big distance to settling the camp.

Vickers for Wildsmith
Elder for Fozzy
Robinson for Hourihane
Washington for NML
We have almost got to use the early season cup games like pre-season games, in the sense that their primary use will be to get some minutes into those that need them and build a solid spine to the team.

No Waghorn in the squad 🥲
-
Get Smith and Waghorn signed and we’ve got four forwards who have all scored double figures at some stage either in the championship or League One.
Really can’t see the issues with this. I couldn’t care if they were all 39 and only had one season left in them, if it gets us promoted then Warne has done what he was tasked to do this year.

If there was a player we should be pulling out of every stop to tie down to a longer deal it’s Bird.
Might be an unpopular opinion but we won’t be able to replace him with anyone that’s even remotely within the current restrictions.
If there was no other option, and Bird decided there was no way he would sign an extension then we have to be looking at 3 million plus for him, anything less would not be worth what we would lose over the next year in a promotion push.
Feel like this is a truly defining situation for Warne and Clowes. I’m one of the biggest supporters of both but if they can’t keep Bird then I think we will see a lot of fans turning on both quickly this season if results do go the right way.

Here’s a list of our top scorers for the past 10 years:
22/23: McGoldrick
21/22: Lawrence
20/21: Kazim Richards
19/20: Martin/Waghorn
18/19: Wilson
17/18: Vydra
16/17: Ince
15/16: Martin
14/15: Martin
13/14: Martin
What has everyone on this list got in common? Not a single one of the players came off the back of a high scoring season elsewhere.
Buying a goalscorer doesn’t guarantee goals. That was always the case in the championship, and it’s certainly the same at this level.
Every season we’ve found a goalscorer we weren’t expecting. This season won’t be any different.

Do we have a behind closed doors game today or something, Warne mentioned if he could keep the old lads (Waghorn and Johnson my guess) till after Tuesday it would be great.
Think it’s meant to be a Derby v Derby game, which would make sense to keep the old players so that two teams of 11 could be fielded

Where’s the money gone?
Not sure the money has gone anywhere.
We’re assuming the business plan was based on ‘spend what we bring in’ but it’s more probable that we had an agreed plan based on a set budget.
We probably factored in Bielik money but not necessarily Knight.
Even with the attendance, are we profit making at this level? If we’re losing money then the Knight money is covering loss

Waggy’s son still in the academy setup? If so it’d make sense for him to come back as a player coach (although perhaps for the first team rather than U21s)

Would replace Wisdom with Bogle, given we bought Wisdom and turned him in a flop.

Ward on a plate for Collins, how many times will we say that this season…Warneball?
