I'm led to believe that the agreement with BZI was something like £15m to Mel, an agreement to take over the £15m debt to MSD and proof of having £25m to fund the club for next season and £15m for the season after. Mel just needs out and has written off the vast majority of his investment. Obviously some more funds were put in over the Christmas period, so there might be a larger loan, but I doubt that the deal would require more than £20m upfront and the ability to service the MSD loan.

Someone with ready access to £30m and the ability to show further backing should be able to secure a deal if the EFL approve.

That's fair enough, I hadn't seen a breakdown of where the money actually goes but that makes sense.

It was just a potential reason as to why the Sheik's bid was 'preferred' over Alonso's, without actually meaning that Morris found the Sheik more credible, as if that's the case it would be a worry.

There’s certainly things of concern surrounding this takeover.

One that stands out for me is, why is Alonso such a good option now after Mel snubbed him to go with the Sheikh?

If it goes through we’ll all just have to take him as we find him, there may be some unpalatable stuff on the politics side, but we don’t really know his thoughts on this and we don’t really know what our previous owners political inclinations have been.

One positive is that he had a bust up with Chansiri over the appointment of Pulis, with Alonso wanting Paul Cook instead.

This at least suggest some knowledge and understanding of this level of the game and the type of manager he would be inclined to appoint!

It's guesswork, but perhaps the price offered was one reason.

The Sheik could have offered £20mil or £200mil, if he doesn't have the money and/or didn't have the intention to actually spend that figure, he could have bid whatever he liked.

Alonso was reported to have bid £30mil for Sheffield Wednesday, which is half of the £60mil that Mel reportedly accepted from the Sheik. I'm not saying that's what he has also bid for us, but if he values Weds at 30, I doubt we're worth twice that.

  3. Four games in hand for Rotherham is going to have a big impact in the relegation picture. I can’t see them going through those without picking up a point, so we’ll have to hope the gap stays as big as possible once we’re all on a level playing field again.

  4. It looks like his SWFC bid was with the backing of an Indonesian consortium and Alonso fronting it.

He was brought in as an "advisor" by Chansiri at Wednesday, although I'm not sure when. It could be of some concern if he advised actions which has since left them with a points deduction and second-bottom though...

However I wouldn't necessarily look negatively on him purely because of his relationship with Chansiri, he's hardly stood out as one of the better owners to pass the EFL's fit and proper persons test of recent times.

Why are we still talking about this little rat/skunk,hes gone good riddance to rubbish

If you don’t want to talk about him, why are you visiting a thread focusing on him in the Ex-Rams section of the forum?

    Christ alive ?

Weren't we meant to be the ones creaming ourselves over a draw? And look at the state of that **** anyway. His kids are going to have to spend their entire childhood with paper bags on their heads.

It's funny because the quote doesn't even make sense.

If they battered us and he said it's not Barcelona, it's Derby then maybe. But they drew with us and now that stupid quote is on a poster. It's hilarious.

Would be interesting to speculate how many of our present players will be in our first team squad on kick off day of next season. My guess is six loans including a couple of our present loans. Our loanees have 14 more games to impress and be offered a contract for next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the loanees have been brought in with a view to bring them in again either on loan or permanently in the summer. I'd love Clarke to stay but I can't see it, especially if Brighton come down then there's no chance. Edmundson may be here for that reason, Baningime as cover with Bielik unlikely to return until around Christmas etc...

Confidence and being on the up can give you a flying start next season

It can, but I can see a lot of changes coming in the summer with personnel. There's going to have to be with our expiring contracts and six loanees. I think the confidence will be built (or possibly not built) through that in the summer. It's nice to win games and finish as high as possible, but it'll mean the exact same for us. Finishing towards the top of the bottom half or closer to the bottom half shouldn't really have too much of an impact on whatever our prospects are.

If we can’t get 12 points from 14 games, would we deserve to stay up?

If we lost every game left this season and finished out the bottom three, then we'd still deserve to stay up!

You can take average figures from previous seasons, but it matters very little. Yes it would be nice to get to 50 points as the average chance of us going down probably decreases, but as long as we can keep the gap to the bottom three, and increase it where possible, then I'm happy.

Obviously things change very quickly in this division, and a team in awful form can suddenly be a team in good form in a couple of games, however the likes of Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield etc. look so poor, I just can't see them being able to win enough to make up the points total and then the extra to overtake us.

Performances like last night are frustrating, particularly given the opposition, but points like that could be very important. This season is a matter of survival, it doesn't matter if we finish 14th or 21st, we will still be in the exact same position to approach next season in the Championship. I'd personally be more than happy just to match the results on the bottom three for the rest of this season, and get it over and done with so we can hopefully begin to look up again and improve.

This was a farce before VAR even got involved!

Precisely! At least the farces we're used to are over and done with inside a minute. We had to wait about 4 minutes to review the farce, presumably while those at Stockley Park quickly wrote a variety of decisions on some scrap pieces of paper, then picked one out a hat to reach the conclusion.

  11. Tonight’s result was so important, the more we take points off those around us, the less we have to worry in the games we aren’t favourites.

We’ve made things so much harder for ourselves by not doing this, Wycombe & Cov at home, Sheffield Wednesday, both Rotherham games. Think how different things would look.

Even if we were able to “swap” our wins, it would change the outlook completely. Hypothetically we lose to Swansea & Norwich but beat Rotherham twice. We have the same amount of points, but are 14 ahead of Rotherham, essentially meaning we are fighting to avoid just one relegation spot.

I think we will still stay up relatively comfortably but I was worried that a tendency to give those around us a leg up could be costly. Another three points on Friday and another team in our buffer to the bottom 3 and things will be looking rosy.

Not sure how the ref gave a penalty when the defender was already on the floor and looking the other way when the Everton player fell over him, but delighted that Liverpool lost....

Having this argument with a Liverpool supporting mate... I don't see how it can be argued that it's anything but a penalty.

Trent is sliding because he's tried to block the shot, he doesn't get the ball and his momentum keeps him sliding in front of Calvert-Lewin's path. Calvert-Lewin is going for the ball, he shouldn't be expected to change or stop his run just because Trent is sliding in front of him, he'd be denied a certain goal by doing that.

It's unfortunate on Trent because he's not meant to do it, but it's still a clear penalty.

The 1st four look completely believable.

Last one I'd think Wednesday more likely to win.

Yeah, the fixtures this week seem to have put the vast majority of teams below us against teams that should beat them. I think Forest might beat Blackburn, however the downside is sides might consider their games as "free hits" much like ours was tonight. They're not expected to get anything, but it's going to be a huge boost to the likes of Coventry or Rotherham if they get a win tomorrow.

Huge opportunity for Sheff Wed or Birmingham though. SWFC are still in a slightly false position with their points deduction. I'd be happy if we're still at least 4 points above 22nd by the end of tomorrow.

@Red_Dawn genuine question and no p*** taking intended (glass houses, stones etc)

Was the aim of this season promotion one way or another?, a *** or bust season?

ive just looked at your entire squad and it’s huge, I’ve never seen anything like it.

what’s the general consensus around Forest and FFP if you don’t go up this season?

I’d be very surprised if they went up this season to be honest.

However next season with their squad they must have a really good chance of finishing in the top six at the very least. Although they’ll have some tough competition with the likes of Hull, Portsmouth, Lincoln, Sunderland & Doncaster, I still think they can do it.
