I totally agree, there are too many smoggies on there giving red thumbs to comments supporting the article. We need to turn the tide.

I've just read this article, I don't normally believe much that comes from the Daily Mail, but this article by Martin Samuel is brilliant and has needed to be put out there by the media for some time. What we need now is for more of the mainstream media, like Sky and the BBC to run with this and show up Boro and WW for what they are.

  2. We need short term funding, to finish the season. I know people have come up with the idea of selling next year's season tickets, but I fear that this may come with various problems, legally and how much people would be prepared to pay.

My suggestion is that the administrators sell us gift vouchers, which can be redeemed against megastore purchases and/or next year's season tickets. Fans could then pay as much as they can afford to lose, if it came to the worst, but hopefully be just paying in advance for next years season ticket and/or megastore vouchers for birthday/ xmas presents.

This could be implemented very quickly and relatively simply, I for one would be prepared to buy sufficient vouchers to cover my season ticket renewal, others may feel they cannot afford so much, but would be willing to buy £10, £50, £100 or any other sum.

    Thoughts?

I think we are near certainties to stay up with the huge caveat that we keep this core group of players together.

Here is the latest handicap table - that puts us ahead of cardiff and reading as it stands.

I still think we're behind those atm, using your handicap system, Cardiff, Hull and Reading should get an extra point with their game in hand and Reading a further 2 points because of their deduction. But it is very close and we're only 1 point behind our safety schedule as it stands. Factor in current form stats, it looks quite encouraging.

  4. Looking at it from a financial point of view, letting Shinnie go makes quite a bit of sense. It saves the club tens of thousands per month on a player who could be deemed as surplus to requirements. This run has been achieved without him and on top of that Beliek is likely to be back this month.

Yes, it would be nice to have cover, but unfortunately, that is a luxury we can't afford.

  5. I'm not even sure that Tom's first goal was even the best goal today.

The more I see it, the more I like the second goal. Festy's contribution was fantastic and Tom's finish was a thing of beauty, on his 'wrong' foot.

Upon looking at the goal again, a massive shout out also to 'old man' Fozzy, who was deep in his own area when Festy broke free. He went on a lung busting run to get involved in the goal.

  6. I have a message for MM, I have supported your actions over the years and have felt that over the years you and the club suffered several incidences of bad fortune which has ultimately lead us to the sorry position that we are in now. Unfortunately this has happened under your tenure and you are ultimately responsible for this situation.

This group of players, management and especially the fans do not deserve the trauma that they are being put through at the moment, but it appears that short term funding could help immensely. I know that you have already lost a small fortune investing in this club, but I ask that if you able to offer the administrators short term funding, to satisfy the EFL to help get this sale over the line, it would change the feelings of many fans towards you.

  7. I haven't seen anywhere that any media outlets such as Talksport, Sky and especially Derbyshire Live have interviewed Gibson as to his justifications for his frivolous claim. There's a story there that needs telling and obvious questions that need asking such as;

What is his motivation, if it was to actually get the money back, surely he should be taking action against Villa and other clubs promoted to the Premier and have actually got the funds to pay him?

Does he feel that every team that has missed out on promotion over the years should have a claim against other clubs in breach of ffp?

Should relegated teams who have had points taken off them by the same teams should also be able to claim?

Should he resign his position on the league board as there is a conflict of interests?

Maybe some of you could think of a few more questions, you'd like to ask him.

Does anybody understand why Nixon is claiming the club cannot be sold until the Boro and Wycombe claims have been sorted

Not really, because it's a ridiculous statement.  There isn't any legal requirement for their claims to be sorted beforehand, it's up to the potential purchaser to assess the risk involved from the claims. All business acquisitions carry risks, which have to be assessed by the potential purchasers.

  9. I've got to agree that Ashley ruined Newcastle, a great club with a recent history of winning the league, cup and european competitions multiple times, just before his ownership of the club or maybe not.

He will be interested in getting a return on his investment, which means getting Derby into the Premier. He was criticised at the toon for his lack of capital investment investment in the stadium and training facilities, these investments aren't guaranteed to bring success, as we can show. Fortunately, our ground and training facilities can survive for a few years without any major investment. So, any investment he makes, would be towards strengthening the squad and/or coaching staff.

  10. I would think that Quantuma would be liaising with the potential new owners when dealing with bids received for players. The offers received for the club take into consideration the value of all assets, which the players are part of. When making their bid for the club, I would think that each and every player was assigned a value and if the incoming bids don't meet this value, then the potential purchasers wouldn't be happy.

  11. They could offer the season tickets with an interest free payment plan over 10 months, which would reduce the risk element and make it easier for supporters to fund.  If we could get 10,000 supporters to buy season tickets this way, it would bring in around £400k per month extra revenue.

  12. Statistically, we are a fraction under 3 points short of Cardiff and Hull ATM which would suggest around a 5 or 6 point shortfall at the end of the season, if things continue as they done so far.

A couple of extra wins or holding on to leads compared with the first half of the season, is what we need. When you think of the 17 points we have lost from winning positions, those 3 points shortfall seem to be quite achievable.

Just Over Halfway - Review of where we are...

Firstly, how fantastic have the boys been, the fight is there and there is more than just hope - they are playing like they know they could be making a little bit of history this season. Still a big task but i'm still confident we will stay up, never thought otherwise to be honest unless the takeover stalled and we had to fire sale.

i will put one chart per post to make it easier to digest. one thing to call out just to highlight the task ahead. We need to get to at least net 46 points looking at the data right now - hopefully it will drop slightly but at this moment my guess is it could even go slightly higher. That means we needed at least 39 points in the 2nd half of the season - a feat we have only managed once since we were relegated from the Premier league (2013-14 with 41 points). We were close in Cocu's season (38) so I firmly believe this is achievable. We usually have a horror run 2nd half of every season - so we avoid that we stay up..simple as that.

Chart 1 is the handicap chart where the 21 points deduction is split across all 46 games. based on that, our reality position after 24 matches is just over 20 points - so really right in the mix (obviously every game we lose circa. 0.46 points so its the wins we need).

    23-HC.JPG

That's an excellent way of viewing the situation Yani. If you were to put us on 20.04 points after 24 games in the current league table, Peterbrough and Barnsley are effectively below us and Hull, Reading and Cardiff are only a couple of extra wins away from us.

Looking at the table this way makes the task look a lot more achievable.

  14. At the half way point of the season, I've noticed the following;

Add the 9 points deducted for financial irregularities and we would be 23rd

or add the 12 points for going into administration, we would be 22nd

or add the 17 points lost from winning positions, we would be 19th

or add them all together and another 38 points would put us 1 point behind the top team, with a game in hand.

if we need to sell players to recruit in the summer then we're in a worse position than I feared. We should be able to recruit the players we need without spending anything on transfer fees.

But with regard to FFP and sensible financial management, it may be prudent to sell one 'star' player on high wages and replace him with 3 good league one players. This would strengthen the squad and make us less susceptible to losing one key player to injury. Had we had sold Beilik last January for a few million and had replaced him with a couple of decent strikers, I think that we would be in a far healthier position at the moment.

Don't forget we are currently losing over a million pounds a month

Isn't this figure based on current income and expenditure? Current income is severely reduced by the fact that a large proportion of the attendance have already paid for their season tickets some time ago. I would think that without administration costs and including future season ticket sales, the club would be close to running at a profit.

It'll interesting to see when next season's season tickets are made available and at what cost.
