Imagine the scenario...Reading lose next 2 and we win ours...it could happen - you would think Barnsley would beat Bristol C but struggle away at sheff utd. Likewise Peterborough could beat Swansea at home then lose to QPR...
Massive week ahead..we could be out of the bottom 3 ?
Trouble is, I've been imagining that scenerio for the last few weeks now and we're running out of games for it to happen. We're getting to the stage of the season now, where strange results happen and luck and referees' decisions can make all the difference. Saturday could have been so different if we'd had Barnsley's ref, or maybe not.

And until we know otherwise it's understandable to think that they are paying their bills, that's why they can recruit players. If it comes to the time they are not then they will have the same embargoes placed upon them.
It's nothing to do with them being able to pay their bills, it's about them being able to pay their bills whilst staying within their financial plan agreed with the EFL. A lot depends on whether there was any pay off for the old manager and how much they're paying Ince senior and his assistant.

Just watched Rob Dorsett on Sky who did say that there is no specific time stated today but take your point....not sure why you would want to leave it right down to the wire though when you've had a month....
Same reason that every transfer window goes down to the last seconds, when they've had all month. Someone, somewhere believes that they can gain an advantage by taking things to the last minute.

Well the last person bought the club out of the goodness of his heart and look how that turned out.

If i remember correctly Joe Corrigan paced out the distance and he wanted it taken from the 18yd line lol.
I remember it well, I was on the Popside at the time. It was pretty obvious from there, that the ref had put the ball in the wrong spot.
Corrigan complained about it and got booked, then the groundsman came out and measured it, proving Corrigan was correct.
Could only be Derby.
When I think back to the unique happenings at our club on and off the pitch, it's almost unbelievable that so much had happened to one club.
Penalty spot incident.
Fans surrounding the pitch trying to tackle a Fulham player.
Coffee cup goal.
Missing first European qualification through financial problems.
Players threatening strike action after Clough went.
Club moments from being wound up in court in the 80s
The 3 amigos.
Wee Billy's post match comments on the Wembley pitch unsurprising followed by that season.
The curse of the CDM, Thorne and Beilik injuries cost us dear.
The debacle of the EFL handling our case over the last couple of years.

These projections are based on past performances and we all know that all the teams won't finish as they have started.
Reading could easily win the next 3 and Hull lose their next 3, suddenly our target would have changed.

I've kept this table tracking against last seasons tally of 44 points as a benchmark for survival. as a reference the 4th bottom team are still tracking 7 points behind that tally even with 4 points out of 6. I think 44 wont be a million miles away at the moment. we are currently tracking 5 points short of that (39 on current tracking would still stay up), but the nearer to 44 we get the better I will be feeling! lol
Technically the 44 points required from last season should be lower this season.
Last season 6 points were lost from the table with Sheff Wed's 6 point deduction.
This season 27 points will be lost from the table, our 21 together with Reading's 6.
By how many points this makes a difference, only a mathematician could guess.

Yeah I’ve seen the pic. It’s unbelievable. Im thinking there needs to be some margin of error with it given how close it was, another day it could say just over the line unless we think the technology is 100% accurate. Still you’re right and we can’t really complain the technology doing it’s job. If that pic is genuine don’t think ive seen anything as close as that
This is an argument that Lewis cropping up with line decisions, wether for offside with var or goaline.
People suggest allowing a tolerance rather than the strict line as is currently used. How many times have you heard a player being only 1cm offside or the ball being the thickness of the leather from not over the line? Many feel that you cannot give the decision when it is so close, but a line has to be drawn somewhere.
If we were to make it offside only if you're 10cm past the defender, then we'll have the same problems when a player is 11cm past a player. No, there had to be a cut off and that cut off must adhere to the laws of the game.
Remember, there are 2 teams involved in all these decisions, why should they be altered to suit the attacking side.

Over the last 40 years, we have supported the club through thick and thin in fantastic numbers, especially when the going has got though.
Other clubs of similar sizes have never competed with us, when their team had been in a similar position, with the exception of Sunderland.
The struggling times in the championship the old second division in the early 80s have always had attendances matching or generally bettering those teams going for promotion.
We couldn't fill an Anfield even we won the premier, but we have had a large hardcore, who will follow then through adversity.
How many times do you see teams that have just been relegated to from full houses to barely half full stadiums over night?
Just think how high our average attendance would be, if we hadn't had the debacle over the ticket office early season
-
We need the takeover to happen as quickly as possible, so that we can offer contract extensions to some of our players and get in a couple of free agents in key positions.

Knowing our luck
Saturday we Win at Boro, Reading and Peterborough lose (and Forest)
Tuesday Preferred bidder named
Thursday WW3 starts !!!!
But that would mean that the season ends early and we would stay up on a points per game basis.

Statistically, reading are heading for 38 points ATM and we're on target for 39 points.

I've suggested that the administrators sell vouchers, which would be redeemable against season tickets, match tickets and online purchases.
The advantages of this are that the administrators wouldn't have to decide on season ticket prices, balances could easily be applied to customer numbers, fans could buy only as many vouchers as they feel that they're comfortable with risking and it would be not just season ticket holders who would be contributing. The monies would be immediately available and not ring fenced for each game.
Obviously there's a risk, which is why this idea allows fans to commit to only as much as they feel they can afford to lose, whether it be £10, £50 or £500.
-
It shows what the new tactic should be. Massively over spend by 50 million, then accept a 6 point punishment down the line.
-
If it wasn't for the fact that the EFL treated reading leniently, because they accepted their punishment, by giving them only a6 point penalty target than 9 points, we'd only be 1 point back now.
I hope that this doesn't come back to bite us at the end of the season. But then we could sue reading for not getting the correct penalty.

In terms of ffp, can M and WW afford to lose an expensive court case against Mel, will the court costs count towards their P & S?

So if (and big if) Boro and WW accept Mel's offer, surely that frees us to confirm the preferred bidder?
I know it's still a big if but let's get Festy on the phone before he puts pen to paper.
This is one of the many areas where the EFL rules fail, you can't own 2 clubs in this country but there's nothing to stop you owning clubs in 2 countries and many owners have exploited this already. So Udinese can sign festy without paying any compo and then loan him to play for Watford next season.
-
Surely, it would be in the interests of the other legitimate creditors (HMRC, etc, etc) to fund this high court action on behalf of the club, so that they can get their money?

I assume we will still be paying Plange's wages. Will this be the same amount he was getting before his move or will we now be paying his new improved Crystal Palace wage?
The way I've interpreted the conditions set by the EFL, is that while he's on loan at Derby, his wages cannot be any higher, meaning that Palace cannot pay him any more until he leaves Derby. If this is the case, all credit to Plange for agreeing to these restrictions, he could have easily trebled his wages and been loaned to another club.

Surely all the youth team players we currently have are registered with us and available for selection now. The max number shouldn't matter as we aren't able to add to the squad until the next window anyway, by which time most of the squad will be running out of contract.
Things need to be sorted very soon so we can start to hand out contracts again and not lose any talent for free. But in the meantime, I think we should be able to use any player currently at the club without penalty.
If the club gets new owners in the next month, I think that we'll be able to sign free agents, building the squad up to an agreed maximum level.

If he gives us the £2m he stole from us back, sure.
That compensation added to the Plange fee would probably be near enough to see this season out. It's sickening to think that not only did he get full pay whilst recovering from his own drunken excesses, he also was getting full pay from us whilst playing for another club.

The limited amount of protection you have with U23s is if you have offered them a new contract and currently we can't.

It's a joke really that Gibson is blaming Derby for them not getting in the play offs. The very same 'cheating' Derby that got them automatic promotion in the 15/16 season when they finished level on points with Brighton, having taken 4 points off Derby, whilst Brighton only managed 2 points.

Clarity
It's interesting to compare the values of Derby and Preston from an investors point of view. To really make any money you need to get promotion to the premier and currently you'd have to say that Preston are in a better position. However, looking at it from a practical point of view it is unlikely that either club will be in the premier any time soon. With this in mind, which club is the better prospect? I believe that even in lg1, Derby will generate a larger income than Preston and more so if competing in the same league, which is the most likely scenario in 2 or 3 years time.
In summary, I would suggest that Derby are more likely to bring in more money for the same expenditure on wages and running costs.
Looking at the clubs' accounts, Preston are still losing money even with their relatively low wages and running costs. However, if Derby were to be run with the same level of wages and running costs, Derby would be be making a profit from their much larger turnover.
