So you was enjoying watching us playing 100 passes between the back 4 whilst drawing 0-0 with Shrewsbury or losing 2-1 (I think) to Lincoln.

As you say, everyone to their own!

because it was in its infancy! it needed time... time he never got...but lets give Warne time to turn us into a real L1 side eh!

Both Rosenior's and Warne needed time to implement there game, one has had enough time for me and I also know which one was better to watch

  2. I cannot justify the outlay at the moment travelling from Kent all over the country to watch this dross

When were last in Div3 I travelled to nearly every game and the first season wasn't great but i never stopped going but on the long journey home lately I keep asking myself is it worth the journey and time and money ? ...I wont be back until Warne has gone I'm very sorry to say 😥 You tried PW but it just hasn't worked out and time to leave us please....

apologies as makes me look like a fairweather fan and I'm not that at all ....just so gut wrenching...only a game blah blah but makes me feel so very sad this evening

So difficult to break a habit you love of going to football 😥

I’m getting nearer and nearer to the firm “Warne out” camp but I really don’t understand this talk of doing the decent thing and resigning. Football managers just don’t do that (not as far as I can remember anyway). Why would he throw away a three year contract, or compensation if he was sacked, when he probably thinks we’re not out of it yet (he probably has more confidence in his ability to achieve what is increasingly looking like the impossible than the rest of us) and he can turn it around?

I get that he wouldn’t want a sacking on his CV (although it seems far less damaging in the world of football management that it would be for the rest of us) but is throwing in the towel any better for him?

I also understand the pressure he must be under but I would strongly suspect he can cope (at the moment) with the emotional pressure. Like I said, it must be incredibly rare for a manager to simply walk away unless they have another job to walk into.

I don’t think it’s much to do with decency but more a case of common sense. “I think I can still do it but if you think I’m not good enough then sack me”

I’d love it if Warne could make a success of it (I find most of his interviews pretty cringe worthy but I wouldn’t consider him an unlikeable person) but my confidence levels can’t get much lower. Tuesday now almost becomes another “must win” game.

Cocu didn’t get as much leeway as what Warne is getting and he was a proper player and international on a different level to Warne ….also didn’t go after compensation as far as I’m aware …a decent bloke ….Warne should walk we gave him his big chance and he has not risen to it

Honestly, get Warne out of our club as quickly as possible. It's just embarrassing at this point how bad we are.

Or is too arrogant of me as a Derby fan to expect us not to be getting played off the park by f****** Stevenage?

Careful lol or you’ll be accused of acting entitled lol 😂….I agree with you by the way….we look more like a L1 side than ever before well done Warne  👏🏻

all that passing around and keeping the ball was so rubbish with Rosenior wasn’t it!!!! lol

A post you went totally overboard on, considering it was nothing to do with the current Warne in/out debate but the general perception that thinking Derby County should be in the Championship or above is in and of itself 'entitled'. A continuation of the discussion about how the size of a club and other factors affects the level they're expected to be playing at.

It was also reflecting on the number of times you read people being accused of "thinking we have a divine right" to be beat this team or that team, or be in the league above (when nobody actually thinks that) as a response to any and all criticism of our individual results or current position in the table.

I agree but I'd like to think that when hiring a manager we have a sustainable business model to have factored in what it would cost to make a change if necessary.

Much needed 3 points and a higher tempo with better pressing and passing. Exeter City look nailed on for relegation and by far the poorest team I’ve seen this season. Our defensive unit look solid and we must keep Nyambe until the end of the season.

One thing I’d advise Warne to do is show the players a video of Bobby Charlton shooting from distance. Their body shape is completely wrong when striking the ball, we should have scored 10 tonight rather than the 3.

    or 2 even 😂

Much better performance, just need to  create a few more clear cut chances to make the most of our possession.

Bird is playing really well, his movement is excellent.

Wags has made a big difference, he’s taking up gold positions and giving the midfield a target to play off.

The only areas of concern are our midfield has been very open on the few occasions Exeter have broken forward. Definitely missing Fornah’s mobility in there.

Also, Sibley has yet to get into the game. He looks very low on confidence, his movement and control have been poor. Hopefully he picks up soon.

Agree it’s much better and Sibley is struggling with his passing and a couple of times slow to react

It is better but still think there are too many loose long balls trying to force it but it’s a lot better than Shrewsbury

How long will it take the squad to get back to this style of play? It's all so depressing.

Until we get a new manager I'd say...I don't dislike Warne at all in fact he seems a decent bloke but can anyone seriously see us go from how we are playing now to playing with more possesion and utilising our midfield to be creative and getting  beyond our striker?

You are asking a manager who has been succesful in this division to rip up his blueprint and change and get us playing in style which is alien to him.

In many ways this is not Warnes fault, this was his big oppurtunity and he said he couldn't say no but hes not a good fit for us and its not working, the only way I see it changing with PW at the helm would be to bring in new coaches but thats not going to happen

Bryson was good at breaking the lines and getting forward but our setup seems bereft of any midfielders getting forward except for Korey Smiths goal this season we should be doing much more of that from midfield.

I respect and think David Clowes is our saviour but I think he's got this appointment wrong, not lambasting him for that we all make mistakes, I think he'd be seen as doing the right thing now if he was to give Warne only a few games to get us ticking and then a parting of the ways...it happens its football ...its not like Warne wouldn't get another job he would ...

I reckon there's been some mass hypnosis of football fans over the the last few years. Somehow, people now believe that tedious, short, sideways passing for most of a match is good football. It isn't, it's turgid anti-football nonsense. The brand of football peddled by Clement, Cocu and Rosenior is the least entertaining way of playing imaginable. I'm just amazed that so many people have been convinced by the excitement free, safety of the slow build up. It's Emperors new clothes writ large.

Warne's problem isn't that his brand of football isn't entertaining or effective. A fast passing game with early crosses and a high press is a great way of playing. The trouble is that we aren't playing that way. We're too slow to see the pass, too scared to take risks, not pressing as a team and delaying the crosses until the defence are organised. Warne's massive problem, and the reason he will soon be gone, is that  he has failed to get the team to play Warneball.

I wonder if that's a facet of being at a bigger club? Is he looking too far forward? There's a big thing been made that most of the recruitment has been of players with Championship experience. I suspect at Rotherham, that wasn't a thing. The players brought in were younger athletes with just enough ability to play in an organised League 1 side, but that was perfect for Warneball.

The players bought in here have more proven ability, but are that bit older and slower.  Maybe they are also less mouldable, having already seen how football is played at a higher level. Is that why a proven League 1 manager appears to be a poor fit for Derby County? He's adjusted his style for the bigger club and diluted his winning formula.

After 50 years of watching football, the common factor with successful teans has just dawned on me. Our best sides are built around the striker's style. Warne is trying to shoehorn the strikers into his style. Yet our best managers worked out what their best strikers needed to be the most successful and set the team up to deliver it for them.

Chris Martin was a donkey for a lot of his career, but as a pivot striker with Bryson, Ward and Russell running past and Eustace or Thorne feeding him, he looked like a world beater.

Look at the movement of Biano, Wanchope and Sturridge - all made possible by three central defenders and a holding midfielder.

Hector and O'Hare - fed by Hinton and constantly assisted by Gemmil.

Stevie Howard, Charlie George, Saunders and Goddard...etc. Even Nigel fell on a system with Shefki Kuqi starring that briefly looked brilliant until he inexplicably replaced Kuqi with Young. Warne himself accidentally got a winning formula last year with McGoldrick in the 9.5 role (yes I made that term up, but you know what I mean).

My conclusion is that the style doesn't hugely matter, as long as it suits the best strikers available at the club.

The style of most succesful sides is similar , possesion, playing out from the back etc and when done well is very good to watch

I watch lots of football basically every live game on TV and believe me we are light years behind teams in the prem as you'd imagine and when watching championship clubs playing decent keep ball playing out from the back we are also miles off of a lot of decent championship sides

Playing out from the back and being brave and keeping possesion seems to be the norm now and the way to play trying to open up teams with movement, passing ,shifting the ball from one side to the other quickly blah blah

We are a L1 club that needs to get out of L1 because this league is not great yet we are looking and playing like a L1 club more and more even though we have the best squad of players in L1

For us to make progress and somehow close the gulf between prem, championship we need a plan of how to do this

The archaeic dinosaur football we are playing is neither good to watch or building blocks towards closing the gulf in quality

If we had a plan to play decent football and encourage youth and build a sustainable model that will need tweaks rather than major surgery if we were to get out of the crap division I'd be more than happy with a bit of time being required, but to watch the turgid anti football I'm currently watching I'm now starting to consider work instead of attending games as it costs me over 100 quid easily each game ....it is much more than just playing to your strikers strengths, City won the league without a proper number 9 a few seasons ago...

I firmly believe you win more than you lose by looking after the ball more and getting players forward

  10. Is anyone actually watching/ going to the games ??

The football is clueless…I’ll sum it up …we are away to Cheltenham and Shrewsbury and we bypass the midfield and go wide and try crosses into the box when Collins is out wide ??

Zero creativity and midfieId are not looking like they are allowed to get forward and break the lines

we never look like opening teams up with great passing or one twos and at home look totally devoid of ideas to open up sides who basically sit in

I could go on and on and on ….but I won’t!!!!

  11. When you look at other teams getting there management recruitment spot on I do find myself somewhat envious

It didn’t need to be a so called L1 specialist to get us out of this crap division …just needed a manager to get what Liam had recruited playing cohesively with a few different plans

Leicester recruited a manager from city’s back room staff and watching there highlights this season in pains me to say they will walk the championship he is not a championship expert but knows how to play football and keep the ball …

not arrogance or entitlement at all but we should be the Leicester in L1 …the team to beat ….but quite simply we aren’t and here lies the problem Warne ( who I like ) will not all of a sudden change his own philosophy on how we play so I don’t see a happy ending

any manager that wants to play decent football on the grass and who can coach some resuits from the touch line is what I’d like to see

so a Eustace , Warburton or any manager that encourages domination of the ball and looking after the ball and getting the best out of our midfielders is my wish and hope Warne finds a more suitable team to manage

  12. We all remember that feel good factor of what the right appointment at the right time brings like when Mac took over

it doesn’t happen often but when it does it feels amazing this can still happen again with a change but stagnating in this division (a weaker division than last season I may add )with the same manager I think will end with attendances dropping …I already think the atmosphere is not great at home this season …that needs to change

  13. When you want your team's manager to go and be replaced  I always think what is it that you want to see thats different and I've asked this question before of my mates who follow other clubs

For some winning 1-0 with any fashion of football is ok as long as we're winning, under Rowett i even thought of not going to games as his style was very negative and on the back foot.

For me we are already getting to a situation where top 2 is looking a long way off and all i want to see is some decent football and us trying to control games with a bit of nous from the touchline

I do not see Warne being able to do that so therefore I am definitely in the Warne out camp now, he tried its not a good fit and more importantly I think he's been given enough time and its just not working, sometimes managers don't suit certain clubs.

It has been seen many times including when Mac came here and took over Clough's team that the correct change can be very beneficial and that ha to happen now in my opinion

Warne will be ok and do ok at a Rotherham or a Wycombe but he's just not right for us

Clowes has to act or this season could be a write off, seeing the fans reaction today is not good but justified but I will say Hourihane had the guts to go to fans and didn't hide and just walk off

Warnock, Warburton or Eustace now would be my shortlist and maybe would give us the lift we require because it just isn't working, do feel for Warne because he's a decent man but I'd like it now if he walked away and said thanks he tried
