If we don't add at least 2 good players we won't finish top 2. I'd suggest 3 or 4 to be favourites.

I would add that if we add no one good and any 2 of Nelson, Cashin, Bird, Hourihane, NML or Collins got a long term injury we could easily miss out on the top 6.

    That’s the spirit !!

Are you happy to see Warne sign more in January based on the likes of Fornah, Bradley, Ward, Washington

No and this is my worry ....I'm not at all confident we'll see the type of signings that would get you off your seat...but they might be able to run a lot

I'm not entirely convinced that managers of Prem and even some Championship clubs see Derby as a place to trust there players development regarding some decent loans which could be pivotal to us getting up

  3. Glad we are out tbh but that was a f***** shambles

No Cohesion, game plan and no football and some players who are not in the starting line up will remain on the bench, maybe time we offloaded some of the players who can't hold down a starting place because tonight they showed Zilch!!

sorry i got the fee wrong its 450K and medical on Monday apparently so this suggests they haven't given up on play offs at least and we have them twice soon so will be tricky games

So I'm guessing this is what Warne is alluding too when he says things can change in an instant, this deal may not happen now as JCH has been apparently offered a better deal at the end of the season by a club  as his contract will be up and no fee meaning more money  for the player

At 29 he wants this deal to be a good one so it looks like he might be staying at Posh for now this is a reliable source who also says we are definitely interested in CBT but also said in his opinion can be somewhat erratic and speed isn't everything, so looks like there maybe something in the CBT link to us 👍

Been told today from a good source that JCH is off to Charlton for 300K or there abouts...seems a strange one him going there but does that free up CBT ?

It's also worth remembering that at 23, McGrath had just finished 7th in the Irish League

Yes true but he still won’t reach  Mgraths level I think people are getting a tad carried away

Cash is a good player but I seriously doubt he’ll play for a team as big as Man U  and play as many top flight games PM did

  7. Some good comments on this thread but comparing Paul McGrath to Cash is very extreme

PM was finished virtually as a player when he joined us in his mid to late thirties , never warmed up before a game and had his knees strapped up yet was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch most games

as much as I like Cash he will never be as good as PM  I’m afraid played in a good Man U and Villa sides and world cups with Eire…different class

Fair enough. I just think Hourihane’s added goal threat makes him playing further up the pitch a better option.

Tough for Hourihane to play two games in a few days and think it showed hence why taken off at HT offers what most of our midfield don’t though and that’s a goal threat ….cant expect just strikers/ forward players to score

our midfield in general just don’t gamble and don’t see the next phase of play sometimes as getting into the box I actually thought Peterborough played well against ( although I dislike Ferguson) us and showed more movement but was a good game to watch but thought they got to our final third way too easily

Now….I often think of Max as being Carrick-esque in his role at Derby, statistically you can’t see evidence of his influence on games, doesn’t score or assist enough would be the common criticism from his doubters….and yet when he’s missing from the team we don’t do as well (our good runs this season and last have coincided with his presence in the team).

If people look up what Carrick’s team mates and managers thought of him they’d find how highly rated he was (don’t agree with your comment he didn’t reach the highest level by the way, he won 5 premier leagues, one FA Cup and a Champions League at United, fairly impressive haul in my opinion and was a key part of the midfield chosen by arguably the greatest manager other than BC), he did the simple things that knitted the teams he played in together and allowed others to do their jobs, I think Bird is similar for us, doesn’t get the glory of scoring and assisting but facilitates others doing so.

If Bird is a poor as some on here are keen to point out after today I’d ask them what it is that Warne, Rosenior, Rooney, Cocu see in him? He’s clearly got something to be rated by those managers and the players he’s played with 🤷🏻‍♂️

It doesn’t matter what other managers might see in Bird I thought yet again he was not great today doesn’t tackle enough and doesn’t look like scoring ..he’s one of ours I get it but reality is we need more productive players in CM he definitely isn’t an attacking midfielder and I don’t see him as particularly strong as a defensive midfielder ….you can’t keep judging players by another teams interest ….what he produces for us is all that matters

Hales. A goalscoring machine until he came to Derby. Became one again when he left Derby.

Typical Derby. Buy a player (for £440K) and then play to his weaknesses. He scored his goals picking up on knock downs and flick ons from his striking partner Flanagan (who allegedly also scored with Mrs H, thereby causing the training ground bust up they had) and from using his pace off the mark to latch on to through balls. Derby decided to make him an O'Hare like target man, a skill set he didn't have. He scored something like 4 in 28 appearances for us. We sold him to the Hammers for £330K, 10 in 24 there. Sold back to Charlton for £100K where he continued to find the net on a regular basis.

He doesn't have good stats with Derby simply because Derby didn't play to his strengths. Derby's fault, not Hales'.

Hales was 330k but he wasn’t up to it and didn’t suit us and how we played

Clarke-Harris is the player we need to go up automatically. If we sign him and Blackett- Taylor and perhaps another midfielder ( Brannagan, who has a release clause of £1 million ) to be financed by Cashin to Brighton with a loan back, not only will we have most posh hyphenated line up in League 1, we will be absolutely awesome.

If we signed  Blackett Taylor, Al Hamidi and Michael Mellon that would do it for me

Something as simple as liking him as a character as much as a player 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m a paid up member of the Max Bird fan club. I think he’s a good footballer and has an impact on games that’s maybe not as tangible as his statistical output, we’ve struggled in his absence when injured the last couple of seasons. And as I’ve said before on here I think he’s an admirable young man having lost his dad so young he shows a level head and emotional maturity in the way he comes across.

I’d rather we keep Max Bird at the club, then in the summer thank the likes of Korey Smith and Conor Hourihane for playing their part in the resurrection of the club and wish them well in their careers as we sign shiny new players to play alongside Bird, Fornah and Thompson in our midfield.

That’s just my silly little idealist views of football though, sell him to Hull or Birmingham in Jan who clearly don’t know enough about football for wanting to sign a player who doesn’t score or tackle….

That's fair enough mate we all have opinions and I always think you make a lot of good fair comments, i just don't personally see enough in young Birdy to see what all the fuss is about but fair enough , have a lovely merry christmas ,,,,COYR

I still think he’s downplaying expectations, a couple of sensible signings to strengthen the midfield and attack, ideally keep hold of Cashin (probably on loan) and Bird until the summer where we’ll be sure of our promotion and can sign Bird to a new deal whilst wishing Cash well on his premier league adventure

What is it that you see as so compelled to keep hold of Bird ?

Not the best tackler and doesn't score many ...two attributes that would be nice surely in a CM

What Sibley did was exactly what Bird and Fornah don't.  Give a defence something to be concerned with, by running at them 40 yards from goal rather than collecting sideways on and moving slowly.  it's shifting them from a a comfortable position in their own third and making space.  Sometimes he's better at it than at other times but I can't see any benefit in him sitting on his arse watching Fornah looking like Bambi on ice for an hour. He's a better player.

I thought both Fornah and Bird looked weak tonight and some awful passes and decision making ….supposed to tackle in midfield I thought lol wouldn’t be that concerned if we sold Bird in Jan as I think we need more in a CM might give us some money to spend
