Don't need to give anything a wobble, just cause we were in danger 18 months doesnt change the reality of what is infront of us or should it lower what we can achieve as a club. Find that notion honestly stupid. Shame you had to become condescending. 1m would not break the bank and would be well within our spending plan if we had dealed appropriately. Every signing a club make is a gamble and it is all managed risk. We didn't manage risk under Mel and paid for it. But We didn't even need to spend that much in my eyes, happy to look at L2 for some prospects. How much was Alfie May now top scorer in League One?

I'm glad you can put everyone in a box as wrong though, must be amazing being you.

i do think Jan could be pivotal for us, don't have to break the bank and spend a fortune as you've said, but if JJ still looks like he's going to be injured I'd send him back and get another striker on loan with pace and spend a few bob on a striker on a permanent but not Clarke harris as some have suggested , he's been poor this season and on the bench now so lets look at L2 players like maybe the Crewe lad Baker-Richardson or Al Hamidi as GOC suggested

  2. Tuesday 14th November

      Pride Park Stadium  19:45 KO

Opponents    Crewe Alexandra - 4th in League 2

    Played 17          W 9        D5      L3         GF 36    GA 25       PTS  32

    Current Form

    H  Notts County  W 1-0

    H  Derby County  D 2-2

    A Harrogate   W  1-0

    H Stockport County   L 0-2

    A Crawley Town    4-2

    H  Tranmere Rovers   W 2-0

Top Goalscorer - Courtney Baker - Richardson  8 Goals

So after an impressive display and deserved win against Barnsley we move on to our FA Cup 1st Round Replay at Home to Crewe Alexandra

The first game at the Mornflake stadium last week was a game we really should've won with how much we dominated the game and after going 0-2 down showed good character to keep going and get a deserved late equaliser to take us into this game on Tuesday under the lights at PP

Crewe have since beaten one of the top sides in L2 in Notts County with a late winner, a penalty in 90+8 minutes from Courtney Baker-Richardson who has now become there top goalscorer this season after scoring the winner.

This will certainly not be a walkover and think we really need to be right at it and get off to a good start and if we play like we have of recent I'm confident we will see our way through into round 2 but Derby as we know have a habit of making things hard for themselves sometimes

Onto Team selection and PW will be buoyed by the recent results at PP scoring 7 and conceding 0 in the last 2 and think maybe the only changes may be due to injuries as Nyambe and NML  who looked to have taken slight knocks.

I suspect a strong nearly un-changed line up for this one and a victory will be a great way to go into the break at a time where we would probably prefer to continue but it will give us a chance to get a few fit Waggy, maybe Ward and Washington ?

I will see you all again after the International break

    p.s

After the devastating news from @angieram regarding Daniel aka B4 which has clearly shocked and affected  so many I would like to ask this of fellow Rams fans at the game on Tuesday and for the long season ahead please and I  sincerely hope this doesn't offend his family in any way.

If at any time during the match when his and our beloved Rams are playing , should a player make a mistake , a stray pass, miss an easy chance etc etc , before any of us think to berate or aim criticism at a player , maybe pause for a second think about B4 and then encourage and cheer on that player with the same enthusiasm  that Daniel would've done, as I'm sure he would love that...Once a Ram always a Ram !

A stranger we had yet to meet.
    Our paths had never crossed.
And yet, it seems, we knew him well,
A dear friend we have lost.

A heart of gold, a Kindly soul,
    A friendly word to each.
A clumsy gaff may oft appear,
    But ne’er offence be reached.

A call to arms, a plea for fight,
    A positive embrace.
    Defiant stance, a pumping fist,
    A smile on his face.

Hatred of pink, and all things red,
More strangers for him to meet.
“A sea of black and white” he’d call,
“Let’s all stand at our seat”!

    A disregard for marriage,
    for relationships of two,
    “Never, ever” he would wail,
    “That would never do”!

Yet he loved all, and we loved him.
    His quirks always forgiven,
    His stubbornness frustrated,
But missed, now he’s in Heaven.

The truest Ram, amongst us all,
    Now gone for evermore.
    For Daniel, for DCFC
    Let’s all be more B4

AMAZINGLY FITTING  ! Well done Sir that  brought a tear

  4. Oh no no no !!😞 was only thinking today I how quiet B4 was on the forum

when somebody you’ve never met can constantly make you smile with such unwavering positivity and enthusiasm and kindness to others then they are a special person and Daniel aka B4 was a shining example to all of us

Im so upset by this and my would like to pass on my sincere condolences to his family on this devestating news.

I always loved hearing B4,s valuation of one of our own players and his positive mindset  to always support the team he loved no matter what …he was truly a real legend of a fan

You will very much missed on here and also at games and when we go up I will raise a glass to you…B4 you will never be forgotten

rest in peace dear Daniel 😢

Firstly, why should Derby accommodate this?

I’m not sure that something like this is necessary. It’s nothing to do with football, so why are people trying to introduce it en masse?

In the same manner that if someone wanted to do an equivalent for, say, Palestine, I imagine these same people would be suggesting that wasn’t acceptable.

If you want to show your support, wear a poppy.

If you don’t wish to then you don’t have to.

And most importantly, be respectful of each other’s personal views - just because people have a different outlook to you, it doesn’t mean you have to attack them - everything is so polarised nowadays, it’s exhausting.

What an idiotic statement!! Nothing to do with football but why will every ground including non league and even park football show there respect today and tomorrow  ??

Some young men never got the chance to play football and today is about respecting them !! Don't bring palestine into it as today is all about those who bravely lost there lives!!!

  6. Saturday 11th November

Pride Park Stadium          Kick Off 15:00

    Opponents          Barnsley

    Played 15          W 8        D 3      L 4        GF 31    GA 15      PTS  27

    Current Form

    H Horsham     D  3-3

    H Fleetwood Town    D  2-2

    H Shrewsbury Town   W 3-0

    A Leyton Orient    D  1-1

    A Exeter City      W  1-0

    A Cambridge United   W 4-0

Top Goalscorer - Devante Cole  - 11 Goals

Boom! so after a 4-1 win at home to Wolves U21 I carry on with the match day thread and onto a tricky but important home fixture to fellow promotion rivals Barnsley.

Certainly for many this is a really important game and test for our new found resurgence and slightly different playing style and Barnsley themselves are in a good run of unbeaten form.

Will Paul Warne keep with our recent tactics of actually trying to play some football and mix up our game a bit or go back to his earlier, more direct approach ?

I for one hope he sticks with what has got us results recently and think most fans on here would be happier too

Onto the game itself and our opponents Barnsley are definitely a difficult opponent and the obvious threat has to be top goalscorer Devante Cole who is not only Barnsley's top goalscorer but also leads the way in League 1 with 11 goals from 15 games , ( equal with Alfie May also on 11 goals )a really good return from there top man.

Saying that though there next top scorer Callum Styles has only got 3 goals so maybe if we can stop Cole we stop Barnsley ?

It will certainly be a dilemma as Barnsley are also the top scorers in our division on 31 goals conceding 15 which is the same as us.

Team selection will be very interesting for this game , does Warne make changes from the last two unchanged line ups ?( not EFL Trophy )

For me I'd like Warne to keep the same side with Bradley keeping his place as I don't think Sonny did anything to warrant being dropped and has made a difference to our team.

Think it will be really important to be tight in this game early on  and get off to a good fast start and looking at results like there recent 2-2 draw at home to Fleetwood should give us encouragement to go for it, lets have a proper go and try and dominate the ball and the game .

I see another victory for us and a warning shot to others that we're back in the game and on the march , see you all again next match thread 👍🏻

  7. Watched Rotherham play Ipswich last night and what has that got to do with us I hear you say lol

well…for starters Rotherham really do reflect how we try and play ( except for last two matches )?they really do !!

very industrial and not great to watch and nearly scored from a few set pieces with players like Morrison being pivotal for them

Then there was Ipswich , played out from the back very attack minded and looked very bright and inventive in a game where they wasn’t quite at it according to the commentator

The two teams were miles apart in terms of fluidity and ideas and I certainly know who I’d rather watch

Ipswich we’re in L1 last season and are playing some really good stuff

it is no coincidence that there style of play is bringing good resuits

This is why I think it’s imperative that PW gets us playing decent football that will carry on into the Championship

I really want Warne to succeeed but have serious doubts he is the manager to implement a style that won’t look like a Rotherham

  8. Wednesday 8th November

Pride Park Stadium  - Kick Off 19:00

    Opponents    Wolverhampton Wanderers U21

    Current Group Standings

                                          P   W   D   L    GD   PTS

    1 Derby County            2   2     0   0    3       6

    2 Lincoln City               2   1     0    1    0       3

    3 Wolves                      2    1    0     1    -1      3

    4 Notts County            2    0   0    2     -2     0

So after a close FA Cup 1st round battle at Crewe we move onto the EFL Trophy against Wolves U21 at Pride Park.

I never quite know what to make of these sort of games but for me just reminds me of the level we are currently at ( we really do need to get out of this division !!) I have to admit i have not taken much interest in this competition so far this season but we look like we will progress in the tournament .

This game will no doubt give Paul Warne a chance to try a few players out with the main priority being the big game on saturday at home to Barnsley.

So i expect quite a few changes including Vickers in goal and maybe starts for Sibley,Fornah and a few others who have not played as much recently.

I think this game has probably come to early to give Thommo and JJ a run out although Warne has said they are both back running on the grass.

Hopefully for continuity it would be nice to stay on our unbeaten run and go into the game on saturday in a positive way.

Apologies for lack of stats on Wolves U21 but I will be back on form for the Barnsley yardstick tester on saturday after we win this game

The football was better than what’s been served up before the Northampton game. My biggest big bear with warne and has been since the West Ham game is his inability to tactically alter a game in play. Cambridge Cheltenham yesterday Stevenage Shrewsbury all game it’s cross cross cross. It’s so predictable and the defenders are lapping it up. Hence why we’ve struggled when players sit behind the ball he hasn’t got the brain tactic to change it up or quick think. It’s like he doesn’t even use his brain with substitutions. On the flip side this season and last season the sheer amounts of games where the opposition manager has altered the game plan at half time or mid game and he hasn’t got a clue how to combat it. One example being Shrewsbury at home last season or where managers have changed formation or added an extra body in midfield to overload it and he hasn’t got clue. You can clearly see why he’s struggled at championship level as he hasn’t got the technicality to alter his methods and it’s a whole different level even just the step up from league 1 to the championship.

it’s completely different to managing Rotherham to derby in league 1. Managers will specifically target a scalp on derby and will alter their game to suit and I’m not so sure teams would look at Rotherham in the same light.

I love the guy and want him to do well but he’s got to start finding different ways to win. Also the recruitment in the summer was confusing to say the least. He wanted players prime age to press and bought in the complete opposite. He wanted legs in midfield and only opted to bring formah in.

was a very confusing and underwhelming summer recruitment and I feel we are worse of for it. We are building for the championship and there’s not more than 3 players if keep if we were to go up says it all. Sorry for the rant

good post mate I share your inhibitions regarding Warne and can he really change that much and be adaptable ?

I'm not sure, it looks to me like a slight change of style has just began but not entirely convinced its totally comfortable for Warne and maybe not his idea ?

I am not sure out of sight is a fair analysis. To me, it was a tactical battle which after 88 minutes you would have to say Crewe looked to have won. Fortunately, we got a bit of good fortune with the first goal back and rescued a draw.

Their tactic to defend, soak up pressure and exploit space on the break seemed far more effective given our efforts to dominate the ball and probe a packed defence only yielded 4-5 genuinely good chances despite 30 plus shots and us pinning them back in their half for long spells with 70% possession. Most things were speculative.

Even though they gave up lots of possession, territory and shots, Crewe scored two and capitalised on our lack in of concentration and organisation at the back. They could have scored a few more in fairness too. We were asleep in the first minute and gave away another two quality chances in and around the second goal too.

I am not saying it is dross. But our lack of cutting edge was frustrating and it follows a similar pattern with other games this season. If we had had more cutting edge, we’d have probably beaten Wigan, Cambridge and Cheltenham at the very least and may have got more from Oxford and Shrewsbury too. It would put a completely different slant on the season.

I can say now it was never a tactical battle Crewe you say had looked to have won that battle, I disagree as we should've been out of sight by the 88th min as we were that dominant.

If we had been lucky to get a draw I'd admit to that but we wasn't lucky, If you'd watched that match not knowing either side or what level they were playing at I'd say nearly everyone would say we were by far the better side but...as i mentioned our finishing was poor and sometimes our decision making was not great but I'd rather have those problems than being dominated and playing on the backfoot, we didn't and on another day we would've been 2-3 up before they scored.

Also credit to Crewe who defended resolutely and should be proud of there performance but there only tactic was to try and get out of there own half in the first 45

I've been critical of Warne but not in this game, as fans we can all have an opinion and choose to dislike the manager or certain players maybe but also its important to get behind the team and management if they're seen to be trying to improve some of the dross from this season that we've seen so all the time we are trying to dominate games and try to actually play football I'm fully behind us win lose or draw because its better than Some recent away performances and some home ones too

  11. 7 hours ago, Jourdan said:

In fairness though, the conditions in Torquay were a huge leveller. The pitch was poor and deteriorating. The weather was extremely wet and windy and not really conducive to any kind of football. Some of the refereeing was very questionable and indeed favourable to the home side - a penalty and a red card went against us. Torquay’s fans and players leaned into all of that.

Yesterday we played virtually our strongest and most experienced XI with the exception of 1-2 players and had none of that to contend with.

Coming off our best performance of the season in midweek, surely you can understand the disappointment in making hard work of yesterday?

It was an FA Cup tie easily Crewes biggest game of the season so far and in the magic of the FA Cup especially if you can bring a big team to your place it all adds to the drama especially if the underdog scores first …if we had scored first as I mentioned in the match thread I think we would’ve won easily but we didn’t and squandered chances and oppurtunities to create more goal scoring opportunities

This is the FA cup and why we love football so don’t mistake it for the dross we’ve witnessed at times this season

Good character to keep going and get a draw when we should’ve been out of sight is my analysis

  12. today was still better than some of the recent away performances, we dominated but our finishing was woeful on top of some poor decision making in the final third , also Fozzy and a few others had off games but still better than the dross we've been watching.

I've been critical of Warne recently but we could easily have scored 3-4 more today and we kept the ball better than recently

what we were guilty of today was too many crosses when we maybe could've worked in into feet but it seems like we are trying to keep the ball more now so lets give it a chance

Max was excellent against Northampton but I thought Bird,Smith and Fozzy were very average today and Hourihane at times wasteful but generally speaking keep trying to play football is ok with me and will bring better results

Also a note on Bradley, I hope his substitution doesn't mean he's dropped because I genuinely think he's made a difference in last two games

  13. 1 minute ago, DavesaRam said:

So Paul Warne thinks we were “smoking them”, whatever that means, but of we hadn’t equalised they would have “smoked us”. Well actually Warne has “smoked us” instead. As I said earlier lots if people on here think we played well, with many thinking we played “on the floor football”. The truth is he got us playing football into midfield, at which point we reverted to type by going wide and flinging crosses in, to a single striker who is shorter than all the defenders. At least Warne realised, and replaced him with Collins, who is only taller courtesy of him westing his hair in a quiff at the front. 🙄

We allegedly had an absolute feast if shots in goal, but I must ask how saves did their keeper have to make? And how much of our apparent good play was actually our good play? And how much was it that Crewe let us play like  because they knew that as sure as eggs is eggs and Pail Warne is Paul Warne and we would revert to depending on crosses which his gargantuan defenders would cope with easily?

Or: can’t score for toffee? I know what: let’s leave who, in Warne’s own words is the best finisher at the club on the bench, only reluctantly bringing him on because Nyambe got injured. Our strikers struggling against giant defenders?  What about Browne? He knows what it is like to score regularly. And if you could convert him into bricks, you could build a very impressive outside building of a certain type! But no, lets go with the shorties instead.

Yes we did keep the ball in the floor towards the end, which is when we finally started to threaten. But even then we were taking too many touches before truing to feed the ball through, so we were still letting their defence get into place before trying to create something. And when Sibley did get on, we didn’t give him the ball and ket him run at the defence. No, it was still going out wide to be crossed in. But Sibley did get an assist, steering the ball to Hourihane when it would otherwise have run through to yet another Crewe defender. So in his last 3 or 4 games Sibley has scored 2 goals and got 2 assists. So why is he still getting dumped to the bench?

After Tuesday night we were all full of beans, not because of Warne’s tactical  genius, but because he let the players do what they are good at. Maybe he had finally got the message and the corner had been turned. I had my doubts at the time, and was right to do so because today was same old, same old. Albeit with a slightly different coat to make it look like football, but it was still Warne-ball.

    DAMM!

It really wasn't same old same old, you must be watching a different game to me,,,what was same old was our wasteful woeful finishing especially Barks who I still think gives us something. playing like we did today all we need is a good striker also Washington is a good foil for a good striker

Im one of Warnes biggest critics but he can feel let down so far by our players.
Set up to dominate and have but my god the players have been rubbish.

    Absolutely no quality.

Forsyth is having one of those occasional games he has where he doesn’t look like a footballer. TB and NML have both been very wasteful. They need to just sort it out themselves.

Agree I’ve been on Warnes case recently but the players have been very wasteful and we are trying to play football ..the end ball is poor at times and we could be 3-1 up

  15. 1 minute ago, Steve How Hard? said:

We've caused quite a bit of mayhem in their box but a combination of bad decision making, the ball not quite falling our way and decent defending by Crewe has prevented us scoring. Forsyth having a shocker. Constantly given the ball away and static and flat footed for their goal.

Spot on …we have played ok and look a much better side but Fozzy having an off day and his fault for the goal …carry on how we are playing and we will score
