It's OK to challenge a statement if you have a factual figure to challenge back with, not your own estimate which is what you're challenging the OP in the first place - like arguing over whose estimate is the best.

Both of you are guesstimating so both of you don't know what the absolute figure owed is.

You’re right that we are all estimating, but we can’t let a statement saying we still owe £8m on Bielik go unchallenged. No doubt some will take that estimate as correct, but as @PistoldPetementioned, the total sum of owed fees for players was circa £8m and since then we have sold plenty of playing staff to bring these owed fees down.

I made sure my estimate was clearly labelled as an estimate and my opinion. The original post was presented as fact.

And was expecting that answer which typifies all of the ITK bullpoo spouted on this thread. Quick to jump on someone to discredit their claims but totally unable to support their case with actual facts themselves.

No one knows what the figured owed is simple as, but if you don't know yourself then why try to argue that it's not a figure quoted by another poster when fundamentally you don't know yourself either.

To be fair, I’d be inclined to agree with pistoldpete that we don’t owe £8m on Bielik, but it is hard to put an actual figure on it.

What we do know is that we’ve had Kristian for 3 years and he has 1 year left on his contract. Do you think we’d stack up all the payments into the last year of his contract? Surely we structured the deal to be more evenly spread out.

And it was confirmed that the payment that was put on hold by Arsenal when we went into admin has been paid since then. Probably through sales of other players.

Id estimate that we probably have closer to £2m left to pay for him still and if we go down we would probably be able to recoup that.

  3. I still think it will be Ashley, as he is probably the one who can see the most value in us and how we could turn things around over the next few seasons and climb back up the football ladder again. However, I'd be interested to know who else is left as their were reports that some bids had been made by groups not in the frame previously and there hasn't been much in the way of speculation on those.

  4. I'm just here to be part of the 1000 page club.

I'm taking the Binnie news as a positive move forward. Clearly they wanted to get us as cheap as possible and were sure they were in a strong position, but if admins took just 24 hours (from a 72 hour deadline) to reject their latest offer I'm sure that means we have one or two better bids on the table.

  5. Sounds like the young lad was well and truly pushed out to “save” the club.

Hopefully we got a decent fee for him and he does well with his future career. Who knows, perhaps he’ll be a star and yearn to come home to derby and help us win the premier league in a few years.

    We have to hope.

  6. Are we saying 4 at the back with festy on the left? Or is it a back 3 of cashin, Davies and Bielik with Byrne and Ebosele as wing backs?

I would be interested to see if the team lined up like this:

    Plange

    Ebiowei    Lawrence

    Ebosele   Bird   Morrison   Byrne

    Cashin   Bielik   Davies

How did you get the rams match report ready in time? It was in the  front and back page if remember correctly

My mum used to type the reports up in real time during the match. Gerald Mortimer or Steve Nicholson (depending on the era) would be on the phone all match calling the commentary and a typist would be at the Telegraph putting the reports together.

A couple of tweaks to the opening para and title as the match ended (last minute goals were a nightmare to edit) and then sent straight to print.

  8. To be honest 2 points from the last 2 games would’ve been nice and the most I would’ve expected against the opposition. We were a goal away in each match from those points and Tom could’ve made the difference.

However, he is back in time for Barnsley and that is a perfect match to hit our next run of form and start the climb back up the table again.

We need to be the 12th man and not get on his back when he returns. A confident Tom Lawrence is what we need to complete the miracle.

Festy had a big knock on his ankle at the end of the last game. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s “emergency use only” today

Morrison has a chance to show something. Don’t know about predictions but I feel it’s time for Knighty to score one

Rooney said in the press conference this week that he took Ebosele off as a tactical change and he isn’t a fitness worry.

Every game is an emergency now. All points are crucial.

take this with a pinch of salt but ive heard from my source thats usually correct (can go through my history to verify) that mike ashley and binnies are the 2 confirmed bids. Appleby and his consortium backed out. Personal opinion is that Ashley will be the new owner

  11. I don't see a problem with him following advice from his manager who has been there and done that in his playing career. Clearly Rooney has managed Lawrence well this year and showing faith in him to be our captain and lead from the front has been working for everyone.

The red card was reckless and an error of judgment, but I think most people have been guilty of making rash decisions in the heat of a moment and if we want to protect squad morale we should be supporting Tom when he returns.

He was a miss last night, but he wouldn't have had an effect on us going behind with the first attack of the game. We still controlled most of the game, but we just didn't make the most of our possession and some were too afraid to shoot when given the opportunity. Millwall are aiming for top 6 and we all know a Rowett team is hard to breakdown after they get ahead. I don't think having Lawrence there (on the pitch or on the sidelines) would've made a difference to the result unfortunately.

We've got 2 more matches without him. One just as tough (on current form) with Luton and then hopefully a more winnable fixture against Cardiff. From then on Tom needs to come back in and be the leader and difference maker again. If he can be fresh and ready for the challenge physically and mentally then that can be the difference to survival or just wilting away and seeing through the rest of this season.
