I sometimes think I'm watching a different game altogether to the one I grew up loving.

That'd be because you are watching a different game Angie and not in a good way. Sadly, for a club with ambitions on the top flight, the higher up the ladder, the less 'real' it all feels.

He won't want to be going to play for Newcastle's U21 team when he'll likely be in or around the 1st team at Derby. Highly unlikely at least, thankfully. Good to hear that he's so highly rated though. Contract extension the order of the day, I reckon.

For me, beating United at Old Trafford in the cup under Lampard was unbelievable and doesn't get spoken about enough.

The next game versus Chelsea was a banger too. I know we lost 3-2, but we did score 4 of the 5 goals on the night and we gave them a right good game. Fikayo's effort was probably also the best taken own goal I've ever seen 🤣

I'd be absolutely devastated to pay that for a player who isn't proven above league 1 with a year on his contract. That's probably on entire budget more or less including wages

    Absolute devastation, you say? Blimey!

FTLIW, at the prices quoted, it's an easy 'Yes' from me. Probably the easiest shout in a decade for this club.

7-8 million seems a little short with TV, Sponsorship, more money substantially just for being in the league and greatly increased away followings with additional on the day spending that goes with it.  I'll have a listen

Won't there be around £15 million extra in season ticket sales too, with the average ticket having gone up around £70? You'd think they'd likely shift a few more this season than last too.

I genuinely saw very little name calling from people who were more critical.

How very convenient. Also absolute nonsense, I'm afraid, but I guess you're being shut down again now, by your own rather singular metrics, so I'll leave you to try to convince others instead.

It's not disagreeing about the points being made though.

Unless you discuss the details, it's just taking a side.

Calling names doesn't just mean you don't agree. Not if you're an adult.

Odd that you show no such empathy for those who were roundly mocked for supporting Warne though. The idiots, the deluded, the blind faithers, the happy clappers, the clueless, Warne fanbois, et al, ad nauseum. You've made dozens of posts supporting those who wanted Warne out, yet not a single one I can recall for those who felt that stance to be shortsighted.

The fact is, suggesting this was entirely a one-way interaction isn't the action of an 'adult' either and is just a derisive and divisive as those comments you'd see sanctioned.

We have Apple TV free again for 3 months.

Other than Slow Horses (we've seenthe  first two seasons and may watch the third if I give in to Mrs Badger) and Severance, any suggestions?

Is the second season of The Morning Show any good? We enjoyed the first.

And what about the Idris Elba thing?

I really liked these two shows:

  9. Would be a blinding signing, but I can't help feeling the most likely outcome is him staying at Celtic next season. That said, if Warne could genetically engineer a player, this lad wouldn't be too far off.

He looks huge, for a start. Google says 6' 2", but I think he must still be growing! He looks a specimen too and seriously strong. Watching him brush players off the ball, it looked like a dad had sneaked onto the pitch at a kid's game.

He looks absolutely rapid too, if not instant pace, it's not far off and he's a huge stride on him and positively eats up the ground once in full flight. It seems he can tackle, pass and shoot, knows how to link play and seems to read the game well too. His video actually reminds me a little of George Thorne, which I mean as a big compliment.

Some definite interest from me then, but based on what I concede is flimsy evidence. Irrespective, I'd like to think we'd want to have a good look at him, at very least, if transpires that he is going to be available.

Another brilliant MotoGP weekend - sprint was mad due to wet patches on the track but the main race produced yet another stonking battle for the win…

How good it is it to have Marc Marquez back to his old self?

Sprint was crazy, but the main race was good.

Feels like a vintage crop to me. Like the Rossi - Marquez era back in the day, only with more players. Great shouts anyways chaps. Properly rekindled my love of the sport, so thanks for that🙏

  11. I'm gutted that we're losing Max, but mindful that the cash he brought in secured us Ebou and Gayle and his insistence on being loaned back and the performances he's put in during that loan very much helped us to secure promotion. I think he was stung by some of the criticism he received and I'd say he's answered his detractors in the best way possible.

Nothing left to do then save for thanking the lad and wishing him every success.

Needs to return to us sooner, rather than later, mind! He's still a Ram after all.

  12. He's earned another year, but I think Warne will be honest with him and it'll come down to whether Collo accepts that he won't be guaranteed starts the way he has been in L1. The club will have been looking at how to strengthen the attack all season and for all that I love Collo to bits and fully acknowledge the hugely significant part he's played in getting us promoted, it seems unlikely he'd be a regular starter in a Championship side, at this point in his career. Can never really write the lad off though, can you and if he left I'd see him as more likely going to a top 6 side in L1 where he's guaranteed to get all the games his legs can handle. Whatever he decides, he does so with my heartfelt gratitude though. Absolute Trojan IMO.

Personally, I find @Comrade 86's matchday threads a little on the short side.  They could do with more pages!  👀

Thank you sooo much for your support mate! Really means a lot!

Next season we'll be upgrading to full club history bios, analyses of sides' last 142 games played, in depth player profiles, star signs, lunar movements and so much more.

    You'll be sooooooo happy! 😋

Sadly this will be my last match today. My first was in 1956 as a 13year old, My dad used to take me before that but he stopped going when we went down to the third division north. My mate and I would catch the 12 oclock bus from Melbourne and be the first in the ground. We stood in the Normanton end pigeon loft, I think it was 3 shilling. To this day I remember that team. We were champions in 1957 and I ran onto the pitch after the last match against Southport, Ray Straw scored 37 goals that season, The next ten years saw me start work, get married and have two children, I had moved to Derby, and after my family, the Rams were the most important thing in my life I never missed a home game in those ten years even though we were only an average second division side. And then in 1966 after England won the world cup my mate and I decided to have a season ticket, Little did we know what would happen that season, I was at work one day and a Rams supporting work mate told me we had signed a player from Bradford Park Avenue, his name was Kevin Hector I'd never heard of him but he was without doubt the most wonderful footballer to grace the Baseball Ground I had ever seen, and because of this we wanted to see more players like him which led to Tim Ward getting the sack and BC becoming Manager, what followed was ten years of unbelievable success and enjoyment. And then things started to go wrong off and on the pitch and I stopped being a season ticket holder during Peter Taylors time as manager, i still loved The Rams of course and when I turned 65 and retired my old mate from Melbourne and I bought season tickets again. But sadly covid left my best friend of 80 years with a dementia problem and he know no longer knows me. For the last two seasons I have been going alone to the match but its just not the same for me. Therefore I am calling it a day, as I write this I am welling up as I will do this afternoon. Thank you Derby County for every thing I will love you till I die.

Bit choked reading this mate and of course everyone respects and understands your decision, but would it not be worth a thread on here, or contacting the club to see if there are other older fans in the same situation, who could perhaps get together on matchdays. It must be tough to sit there feeling lonely while among 30k fellow Rams, but there must be others in similar scenarios.

Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best and hope we'll still see you pop up on here from time to time!

  15. Well done, Warney! where before we crumbled post-xmas, we've finished stronger than ever and honestly, this is nothing less than your hard work warranted. Huge close season now, with a major overhaul to come, but those are some lovely problems to have. Hopefully, DC can attract a bit of additional cash to fund the war chest. I'm sure he'll be doing his level best.

A massive 'thank you' to you and all the coaching staff from yours truly!

  16. Wow!

I make it 6,104 days since we last stepped onto a pitch as a newly promoted team. That's a fair old whack. The wait is over my fellow ovine botherers. We've gone through the last 10 games averaging 2.3 PPG and top of the form table and to my mind, it was never in doubt.

One for the fans after all the grinding misery of the last 3 years, one for our dearly departed, but never to be forgotten B4, one for Clowes who wagered a sizeable portion of the Clowes family net worth to save this wonderful club and one for Warne and his merry band of men.
