Hopefully he won't have to deal with the Administrators for too much longer.
Rooney should be looking further ahead.
I guess a lot of the bright talent he was looking forward to using has been flogged!

It was a massively concerning interview on Radio Derby.
In Rooney's words "The heart and soul of this football club is being stripped away, when a player I don't want to leave, and who doesn't want to leave himself, a local lad who only wants to play for us, is sold without notice and I'm informed via a text message from the Club Secretary".
That's got to raise alarm bells, especially as Quantuma seem to say one thing to his face, and carry on business behind his back that goes against the very assurances they've given him.
This is probably emotion talking, but I'm beginning to wonder if this drive to get income into the club is less about our survival, and more about meeting the Administrators bill upon liquidation.
Feel totally deflated about it. Those who can get the club sold are just caught in a game of self interest. Meanwhile the fans, the players, all the staff at the club working hard, get fobbed off.
The lack of professionalism from the EFL, Middlesbrough, Wycombe and our own admins is thoroughly depressing.

Stearman, whilst good in the air, cannot pass a football properly. It's a major obstacle to us playing it out from the back, we're missing Jagielka badly.
If Forsyth covers CB...

I wonder if Keogh will be looked at in another light now that Mel has been ostracised.
Not me. Thick as thieves. Neither could take responsibility. Don't see Stearman or Davies, Jagielka or any of the current senior players blaming the younger players for their own mistakes. I would have those guys in the trenches with me, not Keogh.

So there is a forest guy on Efl board . Forest have made two low ball bids for our players.
and Efl has given us an ultimatum that happens to coincide with the transfer window.
it stinks to high heaven. Very very worrying also if we had accepted a bid of £500k for Festy.
I have said for ages that a lot of our punishment by the efl has been by stealth. The points and a fine is one thing, but it is the embargoes and the lack of being able to extend existing players contracts that will kill us. And the ridiculous decision to include all those who played in the Chorley cup game as professional standing players.

Two yellows for me, although I can see the point of those arguing for more.
What undid Ravel was the poor control, most times the ball runs away from a player and they then launch themselves at the ball, you'll get a red card, regardless of the actual contact made.
Grabban could possibly not have followed through so forcefully, but I've enough doubt to say a yellow was fair.
Grabban, pushes his foot through with force and studs up. You can see him readjust at the last second, not the action of someone pulling out of challenge...

Spot on.
Neville has been one of the keen advocates for independant governance of football. You would think this story would give all the ammo you would ever need for that change to happen. I expected more from him, especially given the Rooney connection. Well done OB.

Thanks TooFar, still seems like there was a level of manoeuvring going on between EFL and MFC, with EFL realised they were in the frame and acquiesced to MFC. I suppose it could be called implied blackmail.
Could be?

I don't understand why you'd want your biggest rival to disappear. Wouldn't it make the whole experience as a fan more boring?
I loved one tweet I saw from a forest fan, who claimed he would quite happily see us go and never thought we were their main rivals as the real ones are Liverpool....

The Beauty of this now is there's people out there that now know what we know, The EFL have been colluding with Boro to blackmail a fellow member to pay money that isn't owed

This part makes me laugh "had Derby County not cheated, MFC would have been in the play-offs. However, Derby County did cheat and, as a result, MFC lost the opportunities that arise as result of that"
So it had nothing to do with their poor form towards the end of that season? Absolute Bamfords!
Had we not "cheated" the league would have looked completely different or exactly the same. Nothing certain at all.

Great Post and your point about integrity is spot on. We still have to play Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest and Middlesbrough.
Are Stoke and WBA going to be happy if we field the under 23s (if we're lucky, it might be under 18s) and lose heavily when we had such good results against them with a squad the EFL is forcing us to sell? I hope they sue the bloody arses off them!
Made this point earlier. We can have a huge part to play in who gets the play offs. Stoke would love 6 points... It could easily descend into a farce.

It's just a generally awful statement. Supposedly rushed through tonight, pass the buck back onto Quantuma and give a 'Nothing to do with us' sort of response.
A late night statement ain't the sign of an organisation in a decent position. We made enough of them to know that.
They just hoped verbose waffling would mask the panic. If anything it just illuminates their own failings.

So, what I don’t get it is this:
we’re all doom and glooming that we won’t find the funds to complete the season by the EFL’s deadline.
but put aside the fairness of it all, and we do have at least £5mil worth if players, surely, even if it left us with just the under 23s.
of course I don’t want that to happen, but other clubs have had to have fire sales and been left with the bare bones too, to make ends meet. So what makes us different?
I guess that’s what the EFL and everyone else is thinking, we don’t have to be liquidated, we can just sell a bunch of players, like in the last few turns of monopoly where you refuse to just give in and sell all your houses, knowing full well it will only buy you a couple more goes.
it’s not right, and it’s not fair, but that’s the corner the EFL are backing us into, and we wouldn’t be the first club to be backed into that corner and spend a few seasons in league one.
or is the problem that if we sell all our players for a cut price, we are massively devaluing the club, and then no one will buy it for any kind of money, we’ll start next season on -15pts, and then we really will be out of money with nothing left to sell (game over in monopoly). So all selling our players does is delay the inevitable.
but then I’m always that stubborn bugger in monopoly who thinks, if I can just avoid Mayfair for a couple of goes past go, I can start to unmortgage stuff and rebuild my great empire. Live to fight another day, and all that
Keeping the players together and hoping we don't go down would be the best financial incentive. I would have thought the more assets we lose the less attractive we become. There would be a huge amount of work to do in the summer anyway.
If we were in with a chance of staying up with 10 games to go, the stadium would be getting back close to full.
I don't believe player sales can generate enough to make it a worthwhile option. Especially when we can't replace anyone. 11 players over 21... If we had those numbers in the prem we would have been calling off games for the last month.

"...Derby County's administrators Quantuma said efforts to secure a buyer were being hampered by outstanding legal cases involving Middlesbrough and Wycombe Wanderers.
Both clubs are unhappy at the impact of Derby County's financial dealings on their own league placings in recent seasons.
Quantama said the two preferred bidders were not willing to put their money into the club until there was clarity over whether compensation would need to be paid."
The whole effing problem right there. Think it needs lighting up as well as some just don't seem to see it!!

It’s a spineless response Our MPs need to be telling EFL that these are vindictive and extortionate claims, that it is universally agreed they will not give rise to an award for damages, and that EFL needs to take that into account when reviewing the q plan
Please send a message along these lines to your MP I just have
Say we have a fire sale and end up playing kids for the season end. Could Stoke put in a claim(as we beat them twice with a much stronger side). If they missed out on the play offs. That would seem to have as much validity as the bananas of the other two claims.

Fair enough, but that’s hopefully already happening, given the number of local MPs that were demanding meetings etc yesterday (and obviously MPs would never lie to their constituents ?).
Given all the negative press around politicians currently, this is a golden chance to win back some support.
