I’ve not criticised Warne at all in that post so you can notch that down for your first mistake. It has been a poor second half. Anyone claiming otherwise is just gaslighting folk at this stage. First half was good. We competed well and although they edged it we looked dangerous at times. Second half has been toothless.

You just want an argument so badly you go looking for it and if you weren’t purposely seeking out an argument you’d known the fella was interested in the injury. That was my biggest disappointment. I can accept losing 1-0 to these I’m just disappointed we’ve lost a good performer.

Honestly put me on ignore if it’s gonna be this sort of sniping from the sides I’ve no time for it.

You haven't criticised Warne there, but you have regularly you must admit that.

It was a mild joke. I think you're a decent poster but possibly on the negative side

I've never put anyone on ignore but feel free to do so if you're going to be so touchy.

The gulf between these teams is certainly not shown in the score line.

Its ok - I don’t expect anything from this game - but being able to implement something slightly more of a game plan than 3 off target shots would be nice.

There was a game plan - it was to play it tight and get a point. I think it was working well and we're unlucky.

2nd half has clearly showed the relegated Premier League club and promoted League 1 club.

To limit them to one goal could be seen as a positive if you’re willing to open your mind to them after that.

Tough 45 mins to watch, even when we must have all known how difficult this game was going to be.

Had it been the boxing, ref would have stepped in a lot sooner to end the bout.

What chances have United created?

About 20 shots.

To be fair - they have messed up so many great opportunities with the failed last man pass and so on.

We haven’t had the ball in their half. Id be interested to know the stat on touches in oppo box.

It’s almost like this game plan never works.

We were not unlucky. We have up twenty shots, gave up multiple openings and defensively messed up a free kick which having four minimum, or five (preferred) men in a wall made it a lot easier for Hamer.

If we had a free kick 19 yards from gol and you saw the opposition put three people including a 5’6 player in the wall - what would you be thinking?

Im not overly upset. The gulf is huge. The money is huge and we only lost 1-0. The difference in technical skill set is huge. My goal is to be safe and not in a relegation fight.

I would just maybe like to have seen us do something slightly better offensively. Three off target shots is woeful despite the gulf.

Realistically, we aren't going to go to Bramall Lane all guns blazing are we? We need a bit of perspective here.

The idea that playing it tight and for a draw "never works" is frankly laughable. How many times have we seen when Derby are fighting at the top end teams come and do a job on us. That's what we have to do away from home against an automatic promotion side.

The criticism RE the goal is absolutely ludicrous and daft. It's a fantastic strike. The wall was not the reason it went in.

I thought I read that NML hit the post? Did he shoot from our half?

Well, not a lot positive to say about that game. Yes, we weren't expecting any points but you'd hope to see flashes of something somewhere.

Negatives:

- Set Pieces were truly awful. This was the worst thing about this game, as we are touted and tout ourselves as set piece specialists, not one of them was remotely competent.

- We seemed to have absolutely no pace compared to Sheff Utd. I don't think a single foot race anywhere on the pitch was won by a Derby player, even when our ball carrier initiated it. To a man Sheff Utd seemed stronger and faster.

- Zetterstroms distribution is absolutely his weakness, very poor today.

- Nelson and Cashin. In a game where everyone was pretty poor, these two outdid themselves, especially Nelson. Almost all of the competent or good moments came as a direct result of their own mistakes.

- I'm not sure why we'd only made 1 change 30 minutes into that half. There was absolutely no sign of light anywhere in the performance. Needed more sooner, imo, even though it may have changed nothing.

Positives

- Zetterstroms shot stopping and command of the area was again very good. Although one could question why he only saw fit for a 3 man wall in front of such a dangerous FK.

- Effort. The performance, to a man, was pretty bad - but I will credit everyone with good effort, no-one looked to have given up, and there were good reactions to attempt to recover from all of our plethora of mistakes.

- Sheff Utd were shocking in the final third and did wonders to help us keep the score down.

TLDR; 3/10 - we would have been absolutely battered by a team competent in attack, and I think it was a stark reminder of the distance between us and the top teams in the league.

Only losing 1 from our GD was the best possible outcome, playing like that.

We were never likely to get anything out of today. Tough place to go against a side that'll be challenging for autos and we were separated by a moment of magic on a free kick. Have to take those ones on the chin. The games like today won't be the ones that define our season.

It'd be nice to get a decent away win on the board before we get too much further into the season but I think we can be reasonably confident we will - today was one I thought we'd lose but we've only taken the one bad loss v Blackburn.

Gloomy Sunday wake up it is then ! Would have loved a draw but whilst we seemed a bit toothless it sounds like we were tidy enough and gave a good account of ourselves, away from home, against a side that will be top half. There will be days like this. It’s how we come back in the next one. Need to win it before we face Sunderland.

i was Radio Derby only .. anyone at the game, how did we look ? Was there some flow and link up / cohesion about our general play ?

Look earlier in the thread. Whilst people were accusing us of making mistakes and the goal being avoidable I was showing photos that showed that it had nothing to do with the wall and it was just a good free kick that you have to tip your head to.

I’ve criticised the team and the manager when we haven’t been good enough either in league 1 or this division. I don’t come on and slate the players individually or personally insult them likewise I’ve always said Warnes the type of bloke I’d have a pint with. My criticisms are never personal and are often very specific as to what I think we’ve done wrong so it’s a shame it comes across as negative rather than realistic and that’s what I guess has rubbed me up the wrong way.
