Summer transfer suggestion thread

I do wonder if we’re still open to free agents given how pricey some loans will be. Some suggestions from a quick look at Transfermarkt.

The obvious one is Lucas Joao but since his Reading days he’s been in China and Qatar, likely on wages we won’t pay.

Tyrese John-Jules has been mentioned by some, although I’m sure we’ve already considered it and deemed him made of glass. Perhaps we’ll get him after the window shuts if we don’t land anyone else.

Sebastian Andersson - another big swede and formerly of Djurgardens. Scored most of his goals in the Bundlesliga. Now 33 and was released from Koln in Bundesliga.2 this summer - didn’t get many minutes last season. But he is 6ft3in.

Holmbert Fridjonnson - 31, 6ft5 and Icelandic. Has a decent record in the Scandi leagues, scored a few goals in Europe, but didn’t get too much playing time last year in Bundesliga.2.

Maybe I’m just keen for more Scandinavian giants, but I feel these are the sort of players we might have to end up looking at. People with some left in the tank who are out of sorts elsewhere, perhaps wanting to give England a go, and have scored goals in the past.

If we sign a player over 25 some on this site will spontaneously combust 😂

I don't know what he's like but Edvarsen is 28 years old, 6ft 1" and played for Djurgarden in 2022-23. He also has 1 cap for Sweden.

Perhaps Zetterstrom might suggest him to Warne?

I think he’d be financially out of reach, he has 2 years left on his contract and is at prime striker age (28). Stylistically does look like he’d fit though.

I know stats aren't the be all and end all, but had a quick look and looked at a couple of clips:

Awful aerial ability and doesn't contribute much when pressing..

Cross him off the list then!

Noticed Ipswich are in for Broja, wonder if they have anyone we could bring in?

Ali Al Hamidi is of interest to a number of championship sides, I'd be surprised if we weren't one of them considering we were interested in him when he was at Wimbledon.

He’d be a good signing

They've got a lot of strikers to be fair.

Delap, Broja, Szmodics, Harness, Ladapo, Al Hamidi, Hirst, Broadhead.

Can see a lot of clubs being in for Al Hamidi. Hopefully we're one.

Hirst I have found an article from last week saying he's had surgery and back in 8 weeks so he's a no.

Broadhead all I can find is that he was seeing a specialist in July and nothing after that. So no idea if he's fit or out for ages.

Seems like they may also be open to sending Edmundson out on loan, not blessed with pace but would gladly have him back here on loan.

Im sure he was mentioned as part of the Cashin deal last summer.

Last month McKenna said Broadhead will be out for 2 months with a hamstring injury so he wont be going anywhere either

Genuine question: have all the ITKs been locked up?!

No one is even making an attempt anymore. It’s sad.

All jokes aside, it is a little wild how we obviously need multiple players and there’s zero firm links right now.

We will get 3 additional players is my guess at being ITK. But those 3 are most likely to be at Moor Farm for the first time 48 hours before the end of the window. We are totally reliant now on a couple of youngster loans from the Prem, and perhaps one older pro being released if his club get somebody they want. Maybe an out of contract player early September.

I did mention Hirst and Broadhead the other day, didn’t realise they were injured, should of done my research, would take Al Hamidi and Harness off their hands though

I think it's cos there are no links at all that they haven't been able to elaborate and say anything.
