Your correct in many ways regarding lucky, but with a relative who had stage 1 that has turned to stage 3 and radiotherapy to chemotherapy following scan cancellation and a further 3 week delay, there is no doubt that enough cash can make a substantial difference to care. Comrade 86
For me, any sense of connection with the British monarchy died with Elizabeth, but I've lost family and friends to cancer and I hope they have caught it early enough for a favourable prognosis for Charles. Quite hard on the family having so recently lost their matriarch too, so I hope it does not become another media circus. Tamworthram

However, after burying a very close relative last week who was fecked about from pillar to post after diagnosis, it grates just more than a little. Cancer is a b****** to all classes, and all peoples. Cancer f****** sucks. And no amount of money can buy a cure. Just ask Steve Jobs. If it’s out to get the king, then get him it will. Even James Bond can’t jump in front of that bullet for him. I was hoping I’d see two coronations in this lifetime, but not this soon. I hope it’s just one of those little melanoma type cancers that can get zapped off and everyone can move on. My dad’s had a couple of those. But I feel like if there was not a lot to worry about, they would have specifically said that. Not giving any specifics implies that there’s nothing good to say. Cancer is a b****** to all classes, and all peoples. Yeah lucky is definitely the wrong word. You don't get private health care through luck. You pay for it Two years ago I was waiting to have a bowel resection for suspected cancer, and the op didn't happen until June. The NHS was and still is running on fumes when it comes to this stuff. I now have private health care because I learned the hard way that the NHS is a lottery if you want to get the best care, and there is not much more important than the health of yourself and your loved ones. I always swore I would never get private health care as well, on principle. But I agree that this is going to stick in the craw of anyone awaiting cancer treatment on the NHS, or anyone who has lost loved ones because they didn't get treated soon enough As for King Chazza - I hope he gets the successful outcome we've all paid for

I've lost a Brother and Sister to cancer, Cancer is a bast**d, Unfortunately not all "classes" "and all peoples" get the same opportunity for treatment than those who were born into privilege. Yeah I was being facetious about the fact that I have to fund my own health care. The Royal families expenses are met from the Sovereign Grant. This is paid from the Treasury, aka taxpayer funded. You would even get same day treatment with private health cover Context is important and imho, shouldn't be disregarded.
ariotofmyown
Wish he had gone through the NHS system for this. Sacraficed his life of obscene, unearned privledge to expose the problems so many people face. Would have been a hero.
Eddie
Nobody could ever accuse me of being a royalist (Kev is the one and only 'King' as far as I am concerned) but I wish Charles no harm whatsoever, and a speedy recovery.
