Twitter rumour from a less than reputable source with barely any followers so the usual scepticism is encouraged, however if you look back through their recent tweets there have been a couple that were correct….and a new name for us to dismiss with no reputable noise at the moment;

Cant imagine tunnicliffe being true, he’s a holding midfielder and Warne has said the 3 he wants are a left wing back, a 10 and a striker. Unless he was on trial and is happy to accept small wages or something.

Yeah, massive massive pinch of salt with this one. But it’s something new so thought I’d throw it into the ol’ rumour mill anyway

Unless Warne is happy with Bird as a 10 for the season so a holding mid in with Bird NML Sibley Barkhuizen Washington all able to play in the 10

Good article on Tunnicliffe...

https://pompeynewsnow.com/2021/07/13/ex-luton-ryan-tunnicliffe-adds-much-needed-bite-and-balance-to-the-new-look-pompey-midfield-while-creating-a-stronger-dressing-room/

Some interesting quotes in there about him....

"Tunnicliffe fits both needs, having over 250 Championship appearances under his belt while having an aggressive style of play in defence and going forward."

"Tunnicliffe is a strong box-to-box alternative who gets stuck in and disrupts play across the pitch"

"

He can be utilised as a supporting midfielder in a high press who can dribble into high danger areas or act as an out ball.

For attacking contributions, Tunnicliffe averages more touches in the box"

Honest assessment by Warne on Waghorn which settles my mind that he won't be the striker target but sounds like he's hoping to leave enough in the budget to keep him around for the season - Waghorn seems open to sticking around for now.

It also sounds like Thompson will be starting against Wigan and he's changed a few opinions around the club with his preseason. Great for him.

The only other thing that surprised me was describing Korey Smith as a key player - perhaps we will be seeing a lot of him this season.
