Cashin 8.0 Another top performance and looked commanding. Cleared up a Curtis balls-up with a great block tackle. Davies 5.5 Ring-rusty but settled after a couple of mistakes. Chester 6.0 Went about his job with confidence. Hourihane 6.5 A very good first half when he ran and created; settled in second half and kept the ball moving. Knight 7.5 Very energetic and gave his usual 110% Mendez-Laing 7.0 Kept on going despite gassing out on 65 minutes Bird ? 8.0 Grew into the game and given more freedon. Warney-ball will re-establish a swashbuckling Bird; brilliant disguised pass a la Will Hughes for Collins's second. Dobbin 7.5 Lots of running and harrying of the Cambs back 4. Collins ** 8.5 MotM ** - looked like a different player. Full of self-less out of the box running and defending and poached 2 goals from nothing. Suddenly we seem to have a centre forward; benefitted from having a player alongside. Barkhuizen 7.0 Energy and took the game to Cambs. Sibley 6.0 saw the game out and harried well. Osula 7.0 Came on and looked sharp and energetic. Can see this guy being key this season. Forsyth 6.5 saw the game out. Thoroughly professional away performance on a small pitch with an awkward bobble. The result was never in doubt once we scored; clearly the players believe everything that Warney tells them. Hoppo Posted October 1, 2022 Share Posted October 1, 2022 Wildsmith 8 didn’t have much to do in terms of shot stopping but looked confident in patrolling his area Cashin 7.5 solid as usual, could have been different result if it wasn’t for his block tackle in the first half Davies 7 looked shaky to start, got steadier as the game went on Chester 7 solid performance Hourihane 6.5 did a job, kept things ticking over. Knight 7 Cambridge did a job on him. Seemed to be two players on him every time he had the ball. Wasn't allowed to play his game. Mendez-Laing 6.5 looked great first half attacking the wing a few good runs. Seemed to sit deeper second half and didn't really influence as much. Gassed, or instructed? Bird ? 8 the Max Bird we’ve seen glimpses of before, now unshackled and looks to be the best way to play him. Drew three defenders before that cheeky layoff for the second. More of this please Max. Dobbin 6 not his best day. Seemed to be caught offside every time he touched the ball in the first half. Collins 8.5 never stopped. Was everywhere. What a grafter, 2 very well taken goals. Barkhuizen 6.5 some good attacking balls into the box. Sibley 6 didn’t really have time to feature. Osula 7 looked good. Some great work when he came on down the left. Chester 7.5 (composed) Hourihane 7.5 (his best showing so far disregarding goal involvements) Knight 7.5 (perfect for PW; some really clever touches and positions too, including knowing how to get fouled!) Mendez-Laing 7.5 (adapted well - will have to see how he deals with a more threatening left-side attack; Chester didn't need NML particularly to keep the winger in check) Bird 8 (that is what he can do when he knows where he should be and what he's meant to be doing!) Dobbin 7 (great to see the pressing) Collins 8.5 (has much more to his game than we'd been able to see up till now, + good finishes) Barkhuizen 7.5 (very good in defence + attack) Sibley 6 Osula 7.5 (the new Haaland? Much more authoritative than early season Cashin 7.5 - good display with his usual class on the ball & reading of the game Davies 6.5 - generally good but could have done better with a couple of first half headers in their box & made one almighty slip that Cashin managed to mop up Chester 7 - solid as ever. Liked how he & Davies worked in tandem to deal with their left side threat second half (one engages & other mops up) Hourihane 7 - most prominent in first half with his passing & delivery enabling us to get on top of Cambridge. Did miss one big opportunity early in second half Knight 7 - his energy in the centre another reason why we dominated the game. Touch bit heavy on couple of occasions Mendez Laing 7 - good shift at wing back although lost some of his marauding threat in final 3rd Bird 9 MOM - superb all day. Clearly been told to step up the pitch & it suited him. Won the ball higher up the pitch & consequently had us playing in their half more often than not. Great assist for Collins' 2nd goal Dobbin 6.5 - worked hard pressing their back line but still not quite clicking going forward yet Collins 8.5 - excellent display. Two good finishes but also impressed with his hold up play & pressing.
