Wednesday fan in peace

Joe is steady but none of our last 5 or 6 managers have ever trusted him to be number 1.

If he’d have stayed at Wednesday he would have been 3rd in the pecking order, so can understand why he left

As for league 1 get ready for time wasting, the worst officials ever seen and teams upping there game against you as it’s there biggest game of the season. Not much football played in this division either so I’d suggest a few big cloggers in the side

Basically how Derby have played for 20 years ??

Some of the more practical choices might be appealing to Derby.

Former Sunderland player Lee Burge would surely be a wonderful addition, but he might have his sights set higher after winning promotion from League Two with Coventry City.

While former Birmingham goalkeeper Connal Trueman will be searching for somewhere to obtain regular games after trying to establish himself at St Andrew's, Preston North End's Connor Ripley might be another intriguing possible signing.

The Lee Burge that's signed for Northampton? Cobblers.

The Connor Ripley that's signed for Morecambe? Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Wildsmith turned down a new deal at Wednesday last month.

They must have rated him highly at some point as they handed him a 5 year contract extension.

He's played more games than I thought someone I'd never heard of would have done.

Seems to have been either unlucky with or susceptible to injuries.

Wednesday fan here.

Joe Wildsmith first broke into the first team at a very young age about 5/6 years ago when Kieran Westwood got injured.

It was the season we got to the playoff final and Joe was very impressive when he played for us, tipped by many to have a bright future in the game.

Since then we have had a whole host of managers, the side has got progressively worse and when he has played in recent seasons, he’s had a pretty woeful defence protecting his goal. As such his confidence has taken a bit of a battering and he has made the odd error.

That said, if he can get a run of games at Derby and you can get him anywhere near what he was like a few seasons ago, he’ll be a very capable a league 1 keeper for you this season.

Also he’s still relatively young for a goal keeper.

Best of luck to you with the takeover, really hope you can get things sorted and start to move forward as a club again.

A goal keeper with experience and is just about to hit his prime. Seems to have spent most of his time at Wednesday as a number 2 though. Hopefully we can bring him and another hungry GK in to battle it out for the number 1 spot.

I think he is pretty reliable tbh. Seems one of the people on talksport with actual contacts.

You see ! There is a football family, helpful post, cheers.
I think both Roos and Allsop improved when Curtis/Cashin/Jagielka/Stearman we’re around in various pairings. Good CB’s change a keepers confidence and stats, especially if they are young.

I will die on the hill that Carson is only seen as a good  goalkeeper because Rowett set up two lines of defence in front of him. Keepers look good when defences don’t leak chance after chance! See also our spine in the 13/14 season. Grant was good because Keogh, Buxton and Eustace/Thorne we’re immense in front of him
