If we hear that Rotherham have gone three down in the first 10 minutes, we'll only need a draw, right?

0-0 will be enough.

So, we just keep the ball by passing it across the back 4, or 3, 5 whatever number he picks this week, maybe back to the goalie every now and then. But just keep cycling the ball.

Sound. Safe as houses. What could possibly go wrong?

4-2-3-1

Marshall

Wisdom

Edmundsen

Clarke

Buchanan

Bird

Shinnie

Sibley

Knight

Jozwiak

Waghorn

subs (and a plan)

Byrne

Forsyth

CKR

Lawrence

Roos

Watson

Stretton

Plan

Back four to remain solid not too much overlapping

sibley, knight and jozwiak to stay close to Waghorn

Waghorn to hold it up and bring those three into the game

Joz, Knight and Sibley to run at players a lot and if losing possession fall over a lot

1 up

great more of the same - 30 minutes to go CKR for waggy and maybe TL for one of the 3 amigos if any of them tiring

if we go 1 down 30 mins to go Byrne on for Wisdom and CKR for Knight 15 mins to go Lawrence for Bird/Shinnie

Wisdom is injured and Waghorn is absolute crap.

ps Stretton is out too.

Play the same team as last time, but make them have a bit more backbone if things go against them.

SWed played 5 at the back vs Forest, do we think they will do the same vs us?  This will tend to make it a tight game with us passing it around in front of their massed ranks.

Having both CKR and Waghorn up top then may give us best chance when crossing etc.

I’d be tempted to go with a more maverick route of going three in midfield and putting an experienced Forsyth into the DM role. Three reasons, 1) stop Bannan 2) protective cover for the back four 3) let Shinnie and Knight/Bird to push more forward and effect play in the opposition half.

Also I can’t see the point in playing a CAM at the moment who just tends to find themselves not close enough to the midfield or CKR. Get the ball to CKR and let Shinnie and Knight attack from deep imo.

                  Marshall or Roos

Byrne (if not out) Edmun. Clarke Buchanan

                         Forsyth

                  Knight.     Shinnie

Joz.                                              Lawrence

                        CKR

Surely we have to try to be energetic and positive for once. If we sit and wait for them to score then it is pretty much inevitable that it will happen and our record of chasing games if woeful. We can't seem to defend so keep the ball further up the pitch whenever possible.

Front foot - positive but not suicidal. Lets try and play with some tempo and try to seize the day/game not desperately try to hang on for a point from the first kick and hope that Rotherham don't win. Wednesday are not in outstanding form either so lets not treat them like this is a Champions League away leg at Real Madrid.

I would advocate a pressing 4-3-3, which is intended to keep the ball away from our box and look to score a goal.

Most important - if we score, do one of 2 things

- keep the high press

- put more defenders on and change shape to maybe a 5-3-2, with 2 dms in the 3.

Which option will depend on how long to go when we score.

Oh, and if the opp make changes, you will have 5 mins max in which to react.....

Team

                          Marshall

Byrne   Edmondson   Clarke    Forsyth

                           Shinnie

               Sibley        Lawrence

Joswiak              CKR               Roberts

Subs: Roos, Buchanan, Ebosele, Watson, Waghorn, Cashin, Uncle Tom Cobbley, and ALL

in that scenario wendy will be throwing the kitchen sink at us.  If we can't pick them off with  few breakaway's then we will never have a better chance

this team cannot play a high press effectively, it would be suicide

I applaud your ambition but in that team you have five in front of Shinnie, four of whom are made of paper and one who's made of lead.

Not ideal for pressing.

Joz and Roberts are most likely to cause problems in attack but if you play them both you need Knight to support Shinnie when moves break down.
