    Dream takeover.

I think he's very much invested in Charlotte, however, he's recently paid €325m in expansion fees for Charlotte FC to join the MLS. It shows that he's interested in football, but perhaps more so in the area of North Carolina. He's from Pittsburgh, though, so who knows.

It would be some story if it was Tom Glick who saved this club. Build that man a statue!

  2. On the subject of Macclesfield, they're to be reborn under the name Macc Football Club Limited in the next season. The assets have been sold to them. I'm not sure how it would work, but even if we do go to the wall it could be a year removed and we'll be back in football.

10 promotions away from the big time!

This is so annoying and it’s just another go at Derby .

PS The author regularly covers Nottingham Forest.

The guy is a Forest fan, but it doesn't deter from what he's said. I haven't seen the Athletic article and I'm not about to sign up, but if that's true then what he's said isn't incorrect.

The club is using a website to determine player values: why not just use Fifa or Football Manager? (that's a joke BTW)

It's becoming very clear with the more that comes to light that Mel Morris is an awful judge of character and trusts the wrong people with his money and his business. This is up there with Ince's mum recommending Mbappe for me. What an absolute farce of a football club.

According to the Athletic the EFL want a points deduction this season.

As if the EFL have waited until the season ended before deciding how to relegate us.

They operate like a footballing mafia.

Trevor Birch was apparently the CEO of our club in 2007 for a very short period. I genuinely can't remember him, or what happened, but perhaps he's got an axe to grind against Mel and/or the club. He came in the summer of 2007 (after our promotion) and left in October 2007 (when it was apparent we were poo). I'd imagine he left when Adam Pearson became chairman? I'm not sure, but Mel would've been on the board when he was appointed CEO.

  5. The Lions opening game is the most intriguing for me: Goff goes up against a team that has historically given him fits, not the Cardinals and Seahawks who he regularly carved up, the latter even so with 3 pins in his hand, so if he can get off to a hot start then we will see the Goff MVP campaign in full flow. If it doesn't, however, it won't do much for confidence.

It's a game that perfectly sets him up for success or failure.

  6. Until we know the situation with the owner, I can't imagine any player that wants a real wage, i.e. Pritchard, would be a realistic target. I believe he turned us down in January due to the uncertainty around the club and since then it's only accelerated to a much more outrageous level.

I've criticised Mel a lot for the mistakes I think he has made over the years and how it has led to where we are now. But I know that he cares about the football club. I know he will never sell to this Erik Alonso. Prove me right Mel.

Sadly, he's already agreed to sell the club to him. It's the EFL we (as fans) have to thank, ironically, for doing their due diligence. At least, right before they slap us with a point deduction anyway.

Murderers? Have i missed something mate???

Tommy Suharto, his latest new connection with regards to Indonesian money, is a convicted murderer. He does seem to have a fair amount of cash, but also a long list of scandals and rather unsavory motivations when it comes to business.

The family has a debated net worth of between $20-40 billion.

  9. If Alonso gets his hands on the club, I'm taking a well deserve sabbatical from Derby County and probably football in general.

At best, he doesn't ruin the club but we never get to fully concentrate just on the football. At worst, he ruins the club whilst using it as a platform to create more links to convicted murders and infamous fraudsters.

Is that absolute rag trying to set a record for most articles about a single club or something?

We must be absolute box office in terms of pulling engagement numbers for them to keep doing it.

Derby are one of the top clubs for viewership in the UK [first world views] - perhaps just outside the top 10, but certainly within the top 15 clubs. It's not surprising that will try and hit a hot topic.

Leeds are probably within the top 6 FWIW, hence why you tend to see a lot about them too.

This seems the most viable option, although I'm surprised to read that we have no recourse to appeal?

Whatever the punishment, we really need to know where the line is going to be for survival. Ironic that the overspending on the likes of Bradley Johnson, Jacob Butterfield, Darren Bent and others is going to be left to a bunch of 18-20 year old academy players to pick up the pieces.

If we were getting a points deduction then we'd have pushed for the win at the end of the game rather than sitting on a draw wouldn't we. Mel wouldnt have been joyous and Stephen Pearce wouldn't have been moved to tears. Relax.

You're correct. I can't see anyway why they would rush through a point deduction this season, for us being guilty in a period 16-19. It's like we're cheating the system now. A points deduction will likely come to fruition next season but at least we know what we will need to survive.
