Booed non-stop? Are you sure? There weren't any fans in the ground that day? He made 4 starts for Derby's first team in front of a crowd before Covid struck, and dozen or so largely brief sub appearances, and the entire 20/21 season was played in front of zero fans at Pride Park. "Abused on social media" perhaps?

There's celebrating, and then there's rubbing it in, and the latter was certainly how Morgan approached it. That's always going to wind some fans up and provoke a backlash. I don't remember him getting the dog's abuse when he came back for Plymouth, none that I could hear anyway.

The only DCFC player I've booed in over 50 years of watching is Mark Pembridge in his last game at the Baseball Ground when he turned in the most "couldn't-be-arsed" performance I've ever witnessed. As far as I'm concerned, it's largely counter-productive.

I am surprised you didn’t add Kenny Miller at home to Reading to that list.

  2. I can’t say I was particularly impressed yesterday. Wildsmith, Nelson, Cashin and NML did well but the rest were pretty ‘meh’.

I don’t understand playing Smith in an attacking midfield role - just play Sibley or Fornah there as they are far more mobile, as was demonstrated.

I thought their number 6 looked a far better midfielder than any of ours. As for putting Bradley on, it’s getting tiresome and never works - it just hands impetus to the opposition and normally results in a goal! Not a fan.

Lovely round of applause for B4. Well done all.

It’s not an away ticket but not sure which thread to put it in.

This has appeared on the home tickets website but with no explanation .

    Anyone know anything about it.

I don’t think we could beat 10% of the FA Cup template, let alone 15%. I can’t even remember the last time we reached round x of the FA Cup. I don’t think I will ever get to see Derby play in round x, not unless they bring back the Anglo Italian!

That's the whole point. He applied for the job, was considered and then lost out to a 'promotion specialist'. Only now the specialist needs more time and more of 'his' players even though we were told he was 'adaptable and happy with the squad' last season.

FWIW I think Warne's version of the 'rock on Warney' meeting is a bit flowery. I suspect it was a fairly standard 'how are the season targets going' and 'how can we help you meet them' type of meeting. Although I'm not impressed that it happened at Clowes' house.

Saves us money on heating. You need to be more positive.

I agree completely with your last paragraph. Clowes is the owner and the sole reason we still have a club. If he feels that Warne should have more time then that’s his choice. I’m ashamed at some people’s personal attacks on him and on Warne. Completely uncalled for.

The first part is just more guess work though and I only highlight it as you posted about material facts having long since gone and then proceed to make assumptions as to EFL restrictions possibly being in place. Who knows?

Clowes has made his decision, I hope it works and the football and results improve. I have nothing against Warne I just haven’t enjoyed much of our football this season and that’s a shame.

On that topic- my eldest daughter has got into football and there’s a battle at the moment between her supporting Derby or Tottenham (my wife’s team). Last season I think I was edging it, helped by taking her to some games (which is easier than getting tickets for Spurs). Also helped by Spurs playing awful football and the atmosphere being pretty toxic. This year I have no hope though, to sit bored watching Derby or watch some great entertainment with Spurs, which would you choose? I think as well that’s where we are, we’re Spurs of last year. We’ve gone for a “proven winner” but the football is poor and the results aren’t good enough for fans to swallow that style, it’s creating a divided fanbase. We’re not going to get a Big Ange through the door but what a difference a manager can make, someone who wants to entertain the fans, who’s happy for them to get excited and carried away. How I’d love that at Derby, instead I know my Daughter will be a Spurs fan now and I can’t blame her.

You need to up your parenting skills. Life isn’t about fun and good times. It’s sheer drudgery and constant disappointment. It’s clear what will help prepare your daughter for the adult world. Supporting successful sports teams is for losers. Where’s the character building in that?

  6. I have been thinking hard and have come up with a positive about the Warne era - we don’t take those stupid goal kicks where we pass it twice inside our own 6 yard area, putting calamitous defenders under undue pressure before aimlessly hoofing it anyway. I for one will be enjoying our goal kicks tomorrow night. The rest I am not so sure about but credit where it is due.

  7. Vickers

    Nyambe, Nelson, Bradley, Wilson

    Ward, White, Fornah, Springett

    Washington,  Waghorn

That is Warne’s team. His signings.

I think Nyambe and Nelson are excellent. Vickers we can’t really judge. Ward and Fornah, the jury is out. Waghorn is someone’s mate who makes the numbers up. But that is his team. Does anyone think that is better than an 11 that was already here? I don’t. I wouldn’t  want him spending any of my money.

Unfortunately I think Warne’s time is up now.

I don’t think it’s an impossible position to recover. We have plenty of time to find form, claw back points and find ourselves in the top six. We could win both games in hand and be in 6th, for example.

The problem for Warne is the goodwill has gone and it’s the hardest to get back once it’s slipped away and results like today only cement the ill feelings.

The scenes post match v Shrewsbury either tend to be the beginning of the end or to stir up a reaction. To deliver that today against a newly promoted side from League 2, irrespective of form and the momentum they are riding, is surely the nail in the coffin.

I think he has tried his best in challenging circumstances but clearly something is not right and Clowes has to act. We just haven’t clicked.

The trouble is that the new man can’t bring in any players until January, so there’s the danger that things might get worse before they get better.

    Worse?
