Such a good job we didn't get that negative hoofball manager from Rotherham.

    But seriously
    Thank you Liam Rosenior
    Thank you Paul Warne
But mostly, thank you David Clowes

I'm always staggered, reading this thread and seeing how many fans still have doubts about Warne.
In my opinion, Warne's biggest strength is his clarity of thinking and the simplicity of the message he passes on to the players. Everybody knows exactly what their job is and exactly what is expected of them, both players and staff. Players are not asked to do anything complicated or anything they aren't capable of, which is rare in today's over complicated game.
I think that this clarity will also extend to the signing of players and I'm really looking forward to seeing the quality of the players he brings in once he has a free reign in the transfer market, because you can bet that players won't be signed on reputation. He will be just as happy buying a non league striker as an international one as long as they have the right character.
He is proving to be far better than I imagined, as I was fairly cautious about him when he came in, but I think we have a special manager here and our biggest job is going to be hanging on to him if we can't keep up with his ambitions.

PW: If we were to sign Chris Martin, how do you think we could get him moving faster around the pitch?
MH: Put him on a stretcher.

That looks to be a good plan. Do our bit for the planet and save some cash in the medium term. With hands as safe as these, I'm guessing David Clowes was a decent goalkeeper in his youth.

On a stadium related tangent. Does anyone know why there were quite a few seats taped off at the front of the East Stand on Saturday?

    I don't unfortunately.
That said, if you had offered me a place in the play offs back in August, I would have laughed then snapped your hand off.
The job that Clowes, Rosenior, Warne and all the coaches has been incredible to get us into the position we are now. Still a lot more work to do to secure that play off spot though.

He might be small for a CB, but no CB on L1 wins more headers per game than Cashin.
Height is less important in the PL anyway, with the best CB only winning half as many headers in that division as Cashin does. Unsurprisingly, Mitrovic is the most aerially dominant player in the PL. He didn't get anything out of Cashin when they faced each other last season.

Having watched it back, I think it was a red. Collins punched the floor and caught their player in the nose with his elbow.
Impossible to know if there was intent, but it was properly stupid to throw a punch when lying on top of a opponent. He was bound to make contact, and contact was bound to be a red.
As soon as we went down to 10 men against their 12 we were in trouble.
Interesting for their first penalty, the West Stand linesman flagged for a corner, which the ref overruled. After that, the linesman didn't flag for anything until the ref had made a decision. I think the linesman thought that the ref was incompetent and wanted to keep out of it.

So we got a completely different way of playing, put together in only 5 days, and it worked! Although it is only doing what most of us have wanted us to do for the last who knows how many years! But its here! Woo Hoo!!!
It wasn't particularly pretty to watch, but it wasn't ugly either. And some of the lack of class was because Cambridge were in our faces from the start, and stayed the all match. Since when have we managed to withstand that?
So we got the ball going forwards quickly, we pressed and challenged all over the pitch for the entire 95.something minutes and actually believed in ourselves! Collins was in his element, Knight played very well, but strangely for him looked knackered by about 75 minutes. Bird absolutely flourished, putting in great tackles and interceptions, and that disguised lay-off to Collins for the 2nd goal was an absolute peach! Wildsmith looked confident, mainly because he was playing in goal today, instead of advance midfield, and the defence meant that he didn't actually have a shot to save, just a few crosses and a couple of through balls. And that ref - he seemed to miss quite a lot of fouls, but in reality it is more likely that he simply let them go to keep the game flowing, and I am happy with that.
I'm almost of a mind to set off towards Pride Park ready for next Saturday's match already - I can hardly wait! Are we really back to great days ahead?

I'm not usually an interview kind o' guy, and rarely bother tuning in, if I'm honest.
So much so, I made a conscious decision not to tune in to all the hyped up pressers this past week.  Mainly as I knew it would be all fortune telling, promises, and plans for the future.  Stuff that is no more than words.  Not really my cup of tea... or coffee, for that matter.  If I must tune in, I want to be hearing facts.  Opinions by people that can... or have... affected things... on actual events that have happened.  Comments about reality, not hope.
So, rightly or wrongly, despite having the opportunity this past week, and despite reading on here of others' opinions of his interviews, this is the first time I've tuned into any post match Rams manager interview for a good long while (Probably Rooney after we survived v Wendies, off the top of my head?).  It's also the first time I've listened to PW in front of a camera since that very same day, when he hinted at his displeasure of that afternoon's events!  ?

I have to say... I like him... a lot!
Blunt, but fair.  Clear, concise, and to the point.  Little in the way of waffle, clichés, and technical jargon.  Using terms familiar with the man on the street... me!
I think we'll get on just fine.

Welcome to my club, Mr Warne.  ??
