GB SPORTS reacted to kevinhectoring in El DerbyCo
Which bit? We were told by a lady journalist there were problems with the ‘consortium’. We were then told by a UAE journo (SBW podcast) that there was a big backer who had withdrawn. A very big backer. There were no other plausible reasons given for the deal collapsing albeit some wittering about EFl and secured loans. Just the usual chorus on here that the Fake Sheikh had no money and was kicking tyres
we were also told the Oct heads of terms had no end date - ie MM had basically given the Sheikh an option and the ability to walk away if he (or the backer) changed their minds, say for Covid reasons
so: if MM in Oct had said, sign here and deposit 30m and then we’ll speak to the EFL, what happens ? Answer: EITHER no deal. OR ... Mr Big is committed - and then so far as he is concerned he owns the club And off we go ...
The stuff about the fake sheikh and tyre kicking is just silly. Henry was never going to sell Liverpool and got his investment bank (Allen &co) to reject the Sheikh’s proposal to avoid insult. Apparently. And my guess (just a guess) from what Ashley put on the record is that he tried to up the price at the 11th hour which was an insult to the Arabs
MM’s October contracts were ducked up as was his contractual process. This allowed BZI to back out. MM was furious but it’s his lawyers and advisers he should be mad at. He got it right this time and we proceed with the Spanish pugilist
what’s your version? One possibility is the Sheikh wanted to take MM’s ‘option to buy’ and shop it around, hoping he could raise the dosh from a yet-to-be-formed consortium. More likely he had backers lined up. But he didn’t need to bind them contractually because he himself was not bound.
I’m just reading the tea leaves and may be wrong. Certainly not itk except on the Liverpool bit

Weirdly, though due to other health issues i have to inject on a regular basis(no dodgy comments please) so i am used to injections both self administered and the big ones at the Docs but the AZ vax floored me for two days, fortunately i am working from home at present so no days off BOO.

GB SPORTS reacted to Boycie in Things that annoy me but shouldn’t..
People who press the button on zebra crossings and walk across before it changes.
Or press it when there’s only you on the road and can’t wait 30 secs.
Or press it when walking past for a laugh.
or press the ones where they’re part of a large junction when it’s quite safe to cross as we’re all sat at a red and now have to wait longer for you to cross.
(I understand children need to be safe, and them holding me up is fine)
But not bloody adults or even worse CYCLISTS!
don’t start me on the weekend LoonyLycra brigade! ?

Was at that game and sat on the other side of the cricket pitch, my old man got into an argument with a drunken Sheff U fan, who seeing our colours made out that we were the worst side he'd seen all season!!!
Hmmm.

And become a beggar amongst beggars. This is not Mels doing. If you can’t see the warped structure that lead to this over the last 15-20 years then I think you lack insight and logic. Anything Mel has done he has payed for in full. Finger pointing at the man man who’s used his piggy bank ( not very well) to try and realise some ambition is churlish. Ok so it didn’t work and the piggy bank is empty but all you bought is a ticket to a game. Mel has probably spent 20% of his net worth. He’s bailing out, I don’t blame him. He tried manfully

GB SPORTS reacted to Olton Ram in El DerbyCo
If nothing else, this news has meant the closure of the 507-page 'Abu Derby County' thread, which has been a part of our lives for so many months. I for one am mourning its passing

If it's a no from Chansiri then I'm all over this. Let's get it done. Maybe the fella can get his brother Shabby out of retirement and we could have a midfield of Wazza, Shabby and Lamps. Be like getting the band back together. I'd pay just to watch them train...

Walloping a side like that 6-0 on aggregrate over 2 League matches that season ?
Later this year we'll be celebrating 50 years since our first League title winning season & it'd be great to have a dedicated thread with the matches as they happened exactly 50 years previously. Sure I can dig out the old DET match reports but even better to overlay with memories from the lucky sods on here who were there to witness it ?

GB SPORTS reacted to Terry Hennessy in Kaide Gordon - signed for Liverpool
Good luck to the guy - but it's also just as likely he'll sink into football obscurity. Equally I think Wayne played a master stroke by bringing him into the first team and putting him in the shop window. It was clear he wasn't going to sign his contract - which had been on the table for several weeks, so he went to the highest bidder. As I said good luck to him, but the grass isn't always greener elsewhere is it....

GB SPORTS got a reaction from TimRam in Starship and a Human city on Mars
That may be a bit of a set back, landing control on seems a bit difficult to achieve.
Do you know when SN10 will be kitted and ready to go?
If that doesn't work as well i can see them needing a format for a conventional wheeled landing.
What they are trying to do is immense though, straight outta a Sci Fi movie.

GB SPORTS reacted to Carl Sagan in Starship and a Human city on Mars
SN10 is on the launchpad but needs engines installing. It will be ready for launch within a fortnight unless they decide to make modifications.
It seemed one of the engines broke apart on restart. But why was that? Was it just faulty, or are the stresses of the flip manoeuvre too high?
There's not the slightest chance of a wheeled landing. This has got to nail it on Mars without runways so comes in vertically. Several years ago I did suggest the same to their Head of Rocket landing and he told me no chance, because Mars is the only thing that matters to them. But he nailed it for Falcon9 and I'm sure will for Starship.

GB SPORTS reacted to rynny in Test Cricket is Back
I was thinking more of what happened to Phillip Hughes, you would expect someone to check he was ok before giving him some verbal.
Pujara got hit with the ball quite a few times in that innings, I watched from 25th over to the 40th, and in that time he was hit about 6-7 times, including once in the head then. So to take 2 to the head and get that, after everything that has happened...
